Compass is worthless. It doesn't float freely so there is no way it will point North. Sometimes the compass heading is facing vertical because it gets jammed. The bell works though; that's good for 1 star. There's better ways to waste your money.

this little bell is great. easy to install and durable. im not very good at reading a compas but it seems to work.

Compass points South about half the time, East or West the rest of the time. That gives you the general idea in which you are headed, at least, except that compasses are supposed to point North. Bell produces a nice loud ding if you flick the hammer purposefully.

Compass quality isn't the best (compass is easily 'distracted'), but for the price you can't beat the compass + bell combo.
