I bought 2 of these recently. A slight pressure in the area where the microSD is inserted causes the "drive" to be unreadable, losing all data and requiring a format. This has happened to me so many times, I just gave up on this reader. I now use a SD adapter with a USB SD reader. Much bigger, but reliable.

Be careful--this device doesn't fit properly in some USB ports, it's too thick. When you force it in, the plastic starts to shear off. Works in some, not in others. (same problem as other cheap similar devices)

I've had it on my keychain - getting knocked around and generally abused - for eight months. It still works great. It's incredibly small and was an unnoticeable addition to to small keychain. People don't believe it's a USB memory drive until I plug it in. Do note that the gold contacts must naturally make line up with the contacts in the USB socket (duh) for it to work; several otherwise intelligent people have plugged it in upside-down and wondered why it wasn't working.

So far I have used this with a spare 2 GB µSD card. Sorry, no speed tests. I just like how tiny it is. I wear it hanging behind my work badge (with provided string) so it is always there, but unnoticeable. It is extremely light, the aluminum wrapping is sturdy and there is so little spare room (unlike other SD card readers made of plastic) that it feels very robust. The only price is that it isn't key'd so you need to know where the contacts are in your USB jack and align them with the gold contacts. Or you insert it and if nothing happens, flip it over and try again.

Works well with an extra 8GB MicroSDHC I had. Well constructed. Good USB2.0 speeds. It gets warm, but the heat dissipates quickly. As others have said, make sure you plug it in with the contacts facing the right direction.

Interesting that the one negative review was balanced by others with similar viewpoints and linguistic expertise. Note that I have not yet purchased this product, but the glowing reports from all but one will certainly influence my decision. They all agree that this is a good product.

Very cheaply made and fragile. Does not work at all on my laptop. Windows does not detect it.

It's a good reader, fits in my USB slots and simply works. Immediately recognizes my MicroSD card, I used a 4GB SDHC. Windows 7 x64 automatically installs drivers for it. For the price I paid, I can't complain. However, I also have the N30 style readers which I like a lot better because they are smaller (shorter in length) and have an access LED, this one does not. I also found it odd that the slot cutout looks like the card should fit all the way in, but it doesn't. It sticks out about 1/8". The photo of the reader with the card in it is an accurate depiction of what it's like when fully inserted.

Seems decent, works well enough, but on my Windows 7 64 bit it only runs at USB 1.0, as I get a prompt saying it would run better on USB 2.0 and it takes much longer to transfer files than via my other readers.
