Not as big as you might think in the pic, about 5.5" x 2.5 x 2. Good thing about that is little weight to it. Gives plenty of light for it's size. Good for a tent light. Can read easily by it if maybe a foot or two from the subject. I did see the same light for sale after I bought it at a national sporting goods retailer "marked down" to $19.99. I would buy it again at $4.99.

Seems to work fine. I haven't used it extensively, or taken it camping, but it does put out a good bit of light, and I've used it several times now with no problems.

Looked good until I dropped it 3 feet on to hardwood floor, it shattered. My bad, but I have a few cheap plastic things that would have been OK with that kind of trauma.

"camping" suggests some durability. This has none. But it does create light. So call it a 'desk light with a hook". El cheapo construction.

It gives off great light. It make it easier than a flashlight, because you can place it on a surface next to what you are working on and not have to hold it

I really like this lantern. I keep a couple stashed in the house in case the power goes out. The only issue I noticed is that on one of them, the lights flickered a little. After a couple of uses and a couple of taps on the side, I guess the contacts all aligned and I have had no trouble since. The second one was perfect. This throws off enough light to safely navigate a large area, and enough to read within, say six to eight feet.

Nice little lantern. Very small, but puts out bright light. Pocket size. Perfect for inside tent. Light is dispersed, so not at good as a flashlight for walking in dark. Good for emergency lighting or reading a book in dark. For price, would recommend.

The items were a lot smaller than what I perceived from the advertisement. Perhaps the term "Camping Lantern" is mis-leading. The amount of light provided is inadequate for just about all camping situations. If I would have known these lights were so small, I would not have made the purchase.

Summary - Good amount of light, not quality light, lots of wasted space in design, low quality of construction. Good toy lantern for the kids, or around the house in case of power cuts--won't go in the field with me! Wanted to love this but it definitely won't make it camping with me, unless car camping, which is not my preference. Mine arrived with two fingerprints inside the "mantle" area, I had to completely disassemble this unit to clean the inside. I am glad I did, there is much wasted, empty space in the base and the two connecting rods you can see in the pictures conduct the switched power to the LED array at the top. These rods are threaded at each end and secured by a small nut at each end. These nuts have no loc-tite, varnish, or anything keeping them tight so they will eventually vibrate loose and you will end up with an unreliable light source.

Happy with purchase, but 2 of the 5 did not work. I had to remove the metal tab battery contacts and bend them to make them work intermittently. I bought several of these, and now find them cheaper at AutoZone, and 1 free at harbor freight, then the price here. But they are great small and bright!!

Works as it should. Small, portable, bright. The only negative is the way the light scatters but to be honest you only use this when you NEED light so it doesn't have to be perfect it just needs to be bright... which this is. Would recommend to anyone needing a small light. Would work great under the hood of a car in the evening.

if they all work as well as the one i got, i'd say everyone should get one. I used it for over a week every nite on one set of batteries with no problem. Hanging from the ceiling it was bright enough for a 12 by 12 room.

Product worked well once I repaired it. MeritLine just refunded the cost as it was not worth the shipping back and forth. One of the 'bolts' that holds the top and bottom together had a nut come off from the top. Being that these bolts function as a +/- conductor, the light did not turn on. Took some creativity but I completely disassembled, corrected and reassembled and now it works well.

Bright little camping lamp that is also perfect during power outage. It takes 3 standard AA batteries which last much longer than [lamps that only take] AAA batteries. It has a tiny hook which is convenient for in-tent use. The hook should be made bigger to be useful elsewhere.

I actually just used this product. We had high winds and lost power, it is very good at brightening up a room. Just a couple of batteries, also bought from meritline and I have a nice light to survive no electricity. I bet it is also great when camping.

A very nice little compact camping light, it is very small just to note. It should provide enough light in a 2 person tent, but for an outside table or larger tent, multiple of these are required. It takes 3 AA batteries, haven't tested it out for camping yet though Not sure of how long the LED lights will last on the batteries, should last a while though.

Nice little lantern. Small which is nice because I will not use it except when the power goes out. AA batteries is nice also because I can use the ones out of the Wii remotes.

I was surprised as to how bright this little thing is. It is smaller than I expected but a lot brighter than I expected. I wasn't expecting much other than a dimly lit light but I was surprised. It looks and feel cheap (plastic feel and very light) but give great light. I will get a couple more to keep around.

Nice lantern at a reasonable price. Uses many smaller LEDs instead of a single powerful LED which produces a more even light. Haven't done the runtime test yet but seems to be going strong after about 4 hours on fresh Eneloops. I like to ruberized button and the foldable hook on top. Great for about five bucks.

It was broken when I got it. I opened it up and one of the wires from the batter was not connected (no solder at all.) I soldered it on myself and now it works, but clearly there are quality control issues.

My friend bought one of these and brought it to work to show it around...I was highly impressed and ordered 6 for myself...puts out a tremendous amount of light. Very lite weight...3 batteries last all nite. Use it for a reading lite or around the house in emergencies. Very pleased with this light. I put a small piece of aluminum foil on the backside for a reflector and the light is focused to the front for walking in the woods.

This unit is incredibly bright and high quality looking. I am sure this will come in very handy through the year. Very nice small size and very clear nice plastic lens surrounds the overhead mirror/multi-bulb reflecter and all wrapped by nice and sleek flat black material that feels and looks good to the touch.

This light is excellently made and the lighting is set up where as this unit is very bright. I love this thing and it will work for many different things and the battery life will be excellent running these L.E.D. bulbs. NOT ADJUSTABLE as advertised. 11 NOT 12 LEDs as advertised. (Maybe the 12 LED models ARE adjustable?) Took a L - O - N - G time to arrive and had to sign for it at so it was fortunate that I was home or I'd have to make a trip to the Post Office and stand in line to get it. Latch to battery compartment required a screwdriver to open or would have broken a fingernail. Otherwise an interesting and useful item when the power goes out. Might even be something a grandkid would like to have going "up the hill" to our outhouse in the eastern Sierra where we have no public utilities or electricity or indoor toilet! :-)

Uh A MONTH? I love the product, ordered 2. Takes AA's, at the time of order the site said AAA's so I had the wrong kind sitting here. Once I finally got it, I LOVE THEM! Very bright, even for only 11 LEDs it matches the light output of the 21 LED flashlight I've ordered in the past. I love Meritline, but if you order a product shipping from HK - even though they're fantastic and you'll get your money's worth - PREPARE TO WAIT! Took 2 weeks just to process the order though payment was instant? And then 2 more weeks to get here on the slow boat from China? Too much. Still worth it in the end, but I won't order HK based stuff if this is normal. 2 weeks I was prepared for, a month is excessive - especially when the order processing took 2 weeks???

I've owned 2 of these lights for 2 years, and they're very cheaply made, but also bright for a design using lots of older style LED's. In no way are they "camping lights" in the sense that implies durable, but they're very useful to avoid candles or oil lamps during power failures as bathroom or area lights supplemented by brighter task lights. They might make for a nice tent light, with the top hanging bracket not used or treated very gently. Useful to have around, but only worth it when on sale for under $3.

I got this on sale for 4 bucks, what a deal! It arrived with a loose connection, which was simply fixed by tightening some small nuts inside. The level of brightness is good and it is pretty lite in weight. It is going to replace a propane lantern in my pack to save weight and size. All in all a nice lantern. Also the light intensity is definitely not adjustable, as others have said.

Agree with previous review. There is no adjustable brightness. Where it says "Turn the switch to adjust the brightness"? The switch is a recessed push button, not turnable. I've tried turning everything on the light, nothing remotely turns. Not a smooth glow of light, but spotty from reflections of the LEDs, like disco lights without the spinning. But that's not so noticeable in normal use. Otherwise, good value.

Got this on sale on the 12th for $2.49 shipped. Figured what the heck, cheap enough even if it arrives non-working. It's very bright and arrived within 10 total days to FL from the time I ordered it! Works fine and now I'm thinking of getting more!

There's nothing "adjustable" about it, as the only two settings seem to be On or Off. Even so, this thing gets the job done, it's pretty bright and the batteries last a very long time. I accidentally fell asleep with this turned on, and didn't notice until it was dark the next night, and it was still as bright after 18 hours as it was when the batteries were brand new. It's cheaply made, but for the price, it definitely gets the job done.

The clip to put the batteries in is hard to open. It is very bright. The hanging bracket is handy. Take notice of the size. It is quite small, advantage or disadvantage...you decide. Just don't expect it to be much taller than a pop can. I like it enough I have ordered a second one.

My problem is I can't seem to be able to access the inner room, and the lamp arrived with human hand fingerprints on the inside, that have to be cleaned (too sad the manufacturers are not paid enough to wear gloves; what if next time Meritline will also give us avian flu as bonus?)

Good light but don't drop the thing. My five year old son dropped this thing out of his hand at his side in the grass and the battery cover popped off instantly. It barely fell a foot into soft grass and broke. I now have the thing wrapped up with electrical tape to hold it shut. Gonna order another one for 2 bucks right now though.

Took a MONTH to get these, which wasn't the best. But, when opened up they do work as advertised if not better. With fully charged up AA's it can go for hours and provide some solid light for getting around, reading and more even in total darkness! So quality wise, it's well worth it especially if it's on sale. I broke both the bottom tabs already for the batteries but it's dark black and somewhat confusing down there so if you're very careful and get the hang of opening the door, you'd be just fine. Batteries certainly won't fall out! Overall it's an 8 of 10, far better than more expensive camping lights at Wall-e's and such.

This lamp is super bright. I think the name 'adjustable' means when the batteries are low, the light are dim. Otherwise, excellent lamp that I can get. Very high quality made. Only a little bad thing about it is that the battery cap is very hard to open. Make sure you are using full charge batteries or else it wouldn't be that bright.

For one thing, it's NOT adjustable unless your definition of "adjustable" is just merely turning it on. With that disappointment, overall it's pretty good; very bright and useful for blackouts, out camping, or just want to get something quick in a room without turning on its lights.

This light is actually quite small - pocket sized, really - about the size of a can of soda. There's a picture on the package, though, that makes it look like it's nearly a foot tall. It's not! It takes 3 AA batteries, and is actually quite bright. It will certainly benefit you as an emergency or tent light. And the price is very good!

These lights are fantastic. The AA batteries last quite a while and are inexpensive. I keep 4 of them around the house for power outages. Color is brilliant white which seems a little harsh, but it typical of an LED light. The payoff is great battery life and large amount of light. They're more than enough light to use the restroom or get dressed when the power is out. The pattern of light isn't suitable for reading or using as a flashlight, but it's more than enough to light up a room in the dark. Try one, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

If it works, it works well and is more than worth it. Problem is, one had a loose connection in the top and it only works if you bend it so the connection is made - no way to fix it. Buy more than one when on sale & toss the bad one you will get.

Awful. Arrived damaged. One of the long bolts that holds the top and bottom halves together, which also acts as an electrical lead, was not connected and it looks like the only way to get at the nut that hold it attached it to break the top off. I know it was cheap but it should arrive in working condition.

I purchased this since I was looking for a battery-operated replacement to the gas lantern we use for camping. I was surpised how small this is -- it is really just a small flashlight in the shape of a mini-lantern. Going back to the product description, I see it says 13cm in height -- so I guess that is my mistake. But metric measurements and calling this a "lantern" may throw off buyers who presume this thing would be about a foot tall with corresponding brightness.

Lots of little LEDs in this one. Not spectacularly bright, but not bad, really. Has a funny little hook on the handle. Some people have complained about the button—either mine is better or they're just making it up. The battery cover is a bit hard to open, but not too bad. Overall, I found this an excellent buy.

well, it's what we paid for... It's bright but the workmanship is far less than I expected. Therefore, I do not expect this to last long. The service is favorable; very good!

Pretty good for the price, it is value for money. It was a bit smaller & not as bright as I had expected. Good for Closets or small spaces. It however had only 1 setting and I am unable to adjust the lights as mentioned in the ad - but no complaints as I wanted only 1 setting.

I use these as night lights for my kitty so she won't trip going downstairs to her litter box when the power goes out. They run for about twenty-four hours on three AA alkaline batteries. I wouldn't pack them for a trip up the Amazon but indoors they're just fine. Recommended.

Based on the description and many of the positive reviews I was expecting a significantly brighter lamp. No I would not try to read by it. Just useful if you want some light that's not particularly directional. I find that a lamp like # 248-119-001 puts out much more light, though more directional. Comments about cheap construction are fairly true: batt. compartment hard to open, switch hard to depress to turn on/off.

Bright, compact and lightweight, these lanterns come in handy during camping trips and kept my house illuminated after Hurricane Sandy. I put cheap heavy duty batteries in these lanterns and months later, they still give off strong light. Being lightweight, they break easily. The thin plastic hooks on top of the lantern fall off or break and the battery case door on the bottom often is removed without warning.

Must be a great switch because it takes about 20 lbs of finger force to turn on or off. Works best if you use you thumbnail directly on the center to switch. That requires about 5 lbs.

Perfect product for what we were looking for - a small light-weight camping light. We hang it in the tent and it works great. At his price, I would definitely recommend!!!!

I really like this LED lantern, it has a nice feel to it and is reasonably well made. Yes it is plastic and a sharp blow or drop to the floor may render it to fall apart. I have no intention of tossing it about. That said, the hanging hook leaves a lot to be desired, it fails to index into the housing and could pull out when hung from it. Is this a good value? YES it puts out a lot of light and is easy on batteries. I just wish these took two or four cells, as three leaves you with an extra or searching for one more. Buy it, you'll like it

This is the 2nd one i am ordering...I love this little lamp. It's small but bright very bright. It uses 2 aa batteries but it lasts a long time. Also i like that it is small cuz i can use it standing upright like a lamp on the desk or i can hold it in my hand and use it like a flash light. It has a neat little hook on the top and during the winter time, when it gets dark early, I will hook it to my dog leash handle when i walk my dog. One con is the fact that it's plastic and a bit fragile. I haven't done so but i would imagine that if you dropped it even once, it would be the end so handle with care!!

The light coming out of this is nice, but the switch is bad quality and caused the lantern to flicker. It is a very cheap switch and is not easily replaced.

This small, lightweight lantern throws off a lot of light. I ordered one dozen of them for our Cub Scout pack's camping trips and they were a big hit. A few of our lanterns had flickering lights, so we adjusted the pressure of the metal contacts on the batteries and that solved the problem.

Battery cover latch broke after opening battery compartment two times! I did not abuse it at all. The hanger bracket is VERY flimsy so be very gentle or it will break and your lantern will fall to the ground. Gives off a fair amount of light, but very weak construction of important parts!

Much brighter than I expected! Would do well to fill a small room/tent with light. Good battery life. Probably wouldnt be the most durable light if it were dropped, but well worth the price.

purchased this for emergency power outtages. Puts out a good amount of light. does need 3 batteries. Has a decent range of light output (visible area), but the LEDs aren't too harsh on the eyes. Doesn't replace a flashlight in an emergency but will definitely help when you need your hands free. Not sure how useful this would be camping...might stick with full size lamp

Small yet brite, sadly no plug in adapter so bateries only. But does light well..nearly too bright. One of the two I got, flickers alot but is still working. If it had not bad flicker in the one, I would have given it a 5

We bought several of these lamps as gifts and for ourselves to use in cas of a power outage. Shortly after we got them we had a storm and were without poer for 30 hours. These lamps worked great and gave plenty of light with just one per room.

Excellent light for emergency use. I have bought around 8 of these and placed them in various rooms around the house in case of power outage. They are compact and lightweight. I see these same ones in Sports Authority (Coleman branded I think) for $20 each. As always, good service from Meritline. Note that sometimes it may take a couple of weeks to get them after ordering but certainly no complaints for the price - especially when they are on sale.

Its an excellent product, nice and bright, I bought one and liked it so much I bought another, which is the ultimate approval.. This is a great little light, perfect for those backup or emergency situations. Don't expect it to light up a large area but perfect for a tent or bathroom (if the electricity was out).

Impressed for it's size. At first it wasn't that bright, after about playing around with it... randomly got brighter. Definitely good for camping outdoors (tents/washrooms/etc) or just for home when you have a power shortage.

Ok, Finally my order has arrived almost a month. I had lost the hopes but then I received e-mail from meritline & the possible reason for delay & what can be done. So thanks for all that. About the product then let me tell this is really a very good thing. I wish I would have brought more than one. I will say go for it. Great for camping or any outdoor activity. It takes 3 AA cells and burns all night. Great emergency light too! You need at least one of these. Only problem I've had is that the bottom battery door broke on mine after I dropped from 6 feet in the air onto the floor. Not it's fault and a lesser light would have died entirely. Due to long battery life, I just taped it shut and keep on using it.

This is a nice, bright torch that will be put to good use camping in the northern-most woodlands of Minnesota--the most beautiful place in the world!. I've got several of these and have found them reliable, bright, and not too battery hungry--I use rechargeable batteries and get about a three hour burn on year old, approximately a dozen charge batteries. I would recommend this to family and friends.

Casts a surprising amount of light for a small lantern. Just purchased 4 more @ the 2.69 price to use as emergency lighting during power outages. Can light up an entire small room, such as a bathroom, with ample light to see. Also getting one for use in the kitchen for deep cabinets. Great purchase!

A total piece of trash. Very small and arrived not working. I took apart and found that a wire inside had never been soldered. It is very small and very light. Would blow of a picnic table in a light breeze. Don't waste your money!

The lantern is a decent product. The LED's cast a very bright light. The only drawback is that it is cheaply constructed being made of mostly plastic. For the price however, it is well worth it.

I had a similar one from Walmart for $5. But when this one came in it I immediately returned that. We used it in our camping. Very very bright. 3 AA batteries worked 10+ hours. The black skin is comfortable. The switch is good. But the hanger is fragile. I like it very much!

Great buy. Bright light for the size. Used it for camping for 10 days without needing to change rechargeable batteries. Doesn't look very durable, but so far has held up well with absolutely no problems. I could see this selling for a lot more at outdoor stores.

I live in hurricane country (Texas Gulf Coast) and this is the best small area light that I have found. LED's assure long life and low battery usage also. I got another one after receiving the first one. Great buy, and great for camping too!

Looks are deceiving! Small but gives off quite a bit of light for its size. This item gives off enough light to see where you are going, After power loss, used it to check fuses in electrical panel with no problem. Great to read a book by it, or for use in a tent, and or trailer.

Excellent bright light, BUT the carrying handle on the top and the battery cover on the bottom broke in less than a week. Otherwise the body is sturdy so I don't think it will break any more. Also, I can't see how this light is "adjustable" as the product title says. It's either on or off.

Received the order in a very timely fashion... Ordered on July 8th, received on July 27th. Not bad considering it ships from China and I'm in Toronto. Pleasantly surprised by it, MUCH better than a candle, as others have pointed out, in some cases better than a flashlight which needs to be held and pointed while this one can just be put where needed and provide 360 degrees of light... Really happy with the product and the price.

WOW...don't let the size fool you, this little guy packs a punch. it is BRIGHT!!!! popped in 3 AA batteries and when i pressed the button i was blinded. Good size and solid construction. i'm gonna buy 2 more. Great Buy!

I like this lamp a lot. Gives off a lot of light for the three AA batteries,and I like the lantern style vs a flashlight for lighting up an area rather than seeing a path or object. I ordered a few and one arrived broken, but Meritline issued full credit for the broken one without making me go through the hassel of returning it. Can't do any better than that.

This is a great little LED lantern. I bought four to share them with friends. For the price and the fact they will not drain batteries quickly everyone should consider buying a few of these. This camping light works great just like the other ones I bought from this website. Just like other people mention, adjustable is not a right word to use with this light except for whenever your batteries are low, the light is dim. Another problem is the battery compartment, you have to fix it in order for it to be open easily. Overall, great price with a bright light.

Unfortunately, the lantern I received is defective. I put in the batteries - the light goes on, then goes out. I shake it, it goes on for a second, then flickers out again. Completely useless.

Nice little unit. While it is small, it does put out quite a bit of light. You could read by it if it were close to your book without eyestrain. After receiving my first one a couple of months ago, I ordered another, primarily in case of a power outage. An excellent value for the money.

Given the low price of this light I'm impressed with it's performance. The LED light is reasonably bright. I'd recommend keeping a few on hand for use outdoors or during power failures. Use of AA batteries and light weight are advantages. No real negatives I can think of.

The best feature of this lamp is that the LEDs point downward. When placing the lamp on a picnic table the lamp illuminates items on the table instead of blinding you.

This is a great lantern! The rubberized finish gives the unit a great feel and using LEDs instead of bulbs allows the batteries to last a really long time! Mt daughter's girl scout troop has a younger member who is afraid of the dark, and this lantern has kept her quiet for multiple nights. (I bought 2 - one for my daughter and one for this other girl who was driving my daughter crazy when her flashlight went dark 1/2 way through the night.) All is well at the campground now. :)
