DOA would not work at all. Checked with a volt meter. Found the battery + side riding on a plastic rail and never making contact with the + contact in the lantern. Pushed some cardboard under the + contact plate raising it so it makes contact with battery now it appears to work fine. Didn't expect to have to fix it before it worked.

This lantern is very bright. Has nice filtering. It's a beautiful design, very Asian looking. Very sturdy except for lower part which is somewhat flimsy. The switch has some resistance and could be smoother. The battery contacts had to manipulated to work. Otherwise great lantern.

Works fine, the light is really bright and adjustable. But, the handle broke off before I could even get it out of the package.

This is my second review on this product. 'THANKS' Char, I place part of a credit card behind the contacts to engage the battery and it worked fine. I don't give it 5 stars because I had to make this modification.

DEAD ON ARRIVAL. I TRIED 12-16 DIFFERENT BATTERIES, NEITHER LIGHT WORKS! WOULD COST MORE TO RETURN THAN THEY ARE WORTH. AFTER SEVERAL PURCHASES FROM MERITLINE, I AM NO LONGER GOING TO BE A CUSTOMER. CLAY OOLEY

Junk Junk Junk!!!!!!!!! Don't waist your $$$$. I purchased 2. Only one arrived in working order. The replacement came in all smashed up because it was not properly packed to be shipped from China. Another replacement arrived in the same packaging not working. Its probably not a bad product if works.

Thanks Char for reporting your fix. I thought I had a dead light until I tried you fix and it worked for me too. I was surprised, though my light had bigger issues because when I tested for continuity on the battery contacts with the switch in the on position, my meter showed a dead circuit, I would've thought it would show some resistance.
