Not the end-all of power supply testers of course, but a good value in a go - no go tester. Be aware that the only loading is 0.3A on the +5V supply rail; The tested power supply's other outputs are unloaded (except for the LED indicators themselves, ~ 0.006A.)

If your PSU gets no lights on negative rails (-12V, -5V), but shows lights on all positive rails (12V, 5V, 3V), PSU is probably OK. Negative's only used by some old motherboards; some newer PSU's don't provide it. You do need green on the positive voltage checks. Bought this before I had need (due to ship time),needed it 1yr later. The one I thought should be good was bad, the one I thought questionable was good. This unit helped me figure that out, but also told me why.

I love this thing! tested 5 power supplies i had marked bad and set aside and 2 of them ended up good. sure they are oem >250 watt supplies but they normally would have went into the trash. no motherboard or workbench setup needed! no chance to fry a motherboard with a questionable supply. for 5$ every tech should have one in their toolkit.

Excellent tool. If you need a fast go/no go tester for power supplies, this will do the job.

It works, but let me list one con: it doesn't apply a load to the PSU. So PSUs with twitchy capacitors etc show as working when really they are duds. But for the price, hey, get one :)
