This is a charging cable for a Shuffle or any other tiny MP3 device that charges through the headphone jack. It is not for audio, just recharging.

$2 for this, or pay $27 MORE dollars for the official iPod shuffle dock and continue being a Apple tool, the choice is yours.

We tried the device with several iPhones and iPods on two MacBook Pros and weren't able to get any audio output no matter which app we tried. No documentation or instructions were provided. Of no value to us.

Be aware that this cable is for charging and mounting an Apple Shuffle or similar MP3 player and NOT an USB Audio cable. If all you need is a replacement to the bulky stand that came with your Shuffle - this is it. Can't beat the price. Will buy another as soon as it's a deal.

The cable burned up the second I plugged it in. The OS gave me a warning the the USB device had drawn too much power and had been disabled. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and was given the same error and then started to smell the cable burning. The kernel log shows the following error: "USB Notification: The device "EHCI Root Hub Simulation" @ 0x24000000 has caused an overcurrent condition. The hub it is attached to has been disabled". Luckily the iPod Shuffle and the USB port were not damaged. Don't waste your money on this.

Had my old dock for shuffle (clip) broken and it ate some dust. This worked as a replacement. For the price I am happy to see my iPod working back again with all new songs loaded and not eating dust any more.
