This looks like a prop from the movie "Inception." It was used in the movie to test whether one was dreaming or not. In a dream, the top never stops spinning.

Hard to be sure, I could be mistake but I really think the listing is in error, I think the thing is aluminum alloy, not stainless. Seems lightweight, relatively warm to the touch, and as others have noted, not very hard or durable. Bought two, one spins much longer than the other. Not bad. Much shinier than the actual prop seems to have been.

This stainless steel top is NON-magnetic. The diameter is slightly less than a US 25 cent coin. The height is barely over one inch. It seems to be fairly nicely balanced and is obviously machined and not molded/pressed. I like it. Be careful, though... I accidentally dropped mine on the street upon opening the package and it made a little ding the side. Don't let it fall off a table onto a hard floor. Seems like stainless would have been a *little* harder to damage... but I guess not.

Aluminum is too lightweight for this application. It needs to be made of brass or some other, heavier metal.

Its a good purchase for the price but top is very light and feels really flimsy. on the first day it dropped from table and now it has a dent in the bottom surface and wont spin properly.
