Error Correction: In step #8 turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Here are some videos that describe how, exactly, to do it. Note, they all bleed the air BEFORE refilling, not after like I did. Alos they turn the flame adjustment down first. How to Empty and Refill a Butane Lighter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ttjmi4PK0A&feature=related Also how to clean the lighter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6tlNT2ZdxE&feature=endscreen&NR=1

Here are the steps to make this type of lighter work: 1) Hold the lighter upside down 2) Hold the Butane Fuel aerosol upside down. I use Ronson Multi-Fill Ultra Butane Fuel in a 2.75 oz can with a white plastic tip. 3) insert the tip of the Butane Fuel aerosol and gently press down on the brass filler valvle on the bottom of the lighter's fuel tank (which is now facing up). The ligher's tank will start to fill. 4) Fill the lighter up to the top of what looks like a "fill line" which is the circular ridge on the outside of the lighter's fuel tank 5) remove the Butane Fuel aerosol from the brass filler valve on the fuel tank 6) still holding the lighter upside down, insert a ball point pen tip into the brass filler valve and release the air that is still in the tank 7) ***Important*** wait 15 minutes 8) Using a flat blade screw driver turn the brass valve adjusting screw CLOCKWISE 1/4 turn 9) Now you should be able to get a nice blue flame

I bought a 2 pack and after filling both with Ronson premium fuel one won't light and the other sometimes takes a couple tries to light. It lights only within a very, very narrow limit of it's adjustment. A little to high and it goes out and to low it won't light a all. Trying to light in the wind would be out of the question. I've owned others so close to this model that are an inch longer and work fine for a few months. Nice try Meritline, I still love you!

Problematic. Works great WHEN it works. But most of the time the flame stops after a brief moment. Seems to work best ONLY when the tank is nearly full, and that doesn't last very long. Also - the clear plastic areas look like they have a ton of stress fractures in them, and I'm not sure I trust it to not leak the butane. Very unhappy with this purchase, and I'm usually pretty happy with most Meritline purchases...

I liked this little lighter. As others have said, you have to adjust the control on the bottom (where you insert the butane nozzle). Once you do, it lights reliably with a strong flame.

Didn't work out of the box, and no instructions made for a disapointing first impression. After finding the mixture screw adjustment on the bottom after a few turns it burns hot and works great! I'm getting two more...

Works good. I filled it up, let it sit about 5 minutes and worked fine. On the original setting it worked intermittently. Turned the adjustment on the bottom to a little higher and works great every single time. Super hot and really small. Smallest butane lighter I've seen. Pretty cool and sleek gadget to have.

Best lighter I have ever owned! If you're thrown off by the awful spector of a screw driver, stick with the dollar store junk. This thing almost LOVES the wind, is great with fireworks, lights every time. at any angle. Safe and sure operation. Just ordered two more. Driver set from Meritline has a forked-blade driver that makes adjusting this lighter a breeze.

All you need to do as this worked for me: Fill it upside down and wait a couple seconds then take a flat-head screw driver and turn it counter-clockwise for a desired length of flame.

Keep one in car or emergency pack, very compact but fully functional and always lights-up on first press.
