Read the reviews & bought this one. I am more than pleased with this light. Plan on its use on the Bicycle. The adjustable beam works great. Has 4 modes, 1>steady on-low power 2>steady on-High power 3>Flash mode 4>off On high power mode it projects a beam approx. 200ft on the tightest focal pattern and the pattern width is about 10 feet. Broadest focal pattern has a useable beam of about 75-100feet with a pattern width of about 25 feet. Flash mode is impressive, comes with a metal pocket clip, 6" removable laynard & a plastic sleeve for the single size rechargeable battery you can use. Or use 3 AAA batteries. O-ring gaskets seem to have a tight seal. Better than most $100+ dollar lights I have used. If they can't see you coming with this light, They are blind.

These may be the best items I've ever received from Meritline, although I've purchased dozens of different items from them. These Flashlights far exceeded my expectations. After receiving the first one, I ordered two more. Highly recommended, no disappointments here.

Great value for the cash! Good design and surprising build quality. The beam adjustment by clicking/turning the ring is a much better design then most others I've seen. Brightness is very good! How far the beam adjusts, wide & narrow. Is very good & better then others I've owned or seen. Overall, very good buy!

These guys are bad ass. My previous goto flashlight was a single cell 'Small Sun' that I had purchased from Meritline; looks like the same manufacturer. It is bright and what I really like about it is it's small size. This flashlight is about 50% larger in size. I put a fresh AA in the Small Sun and compared it to this guy with an UltraFire 3.7V Li-ion battery in it, both set to the same beam size. The Small Sun, although until now was my previous favorite and was quite impressed by, doesn't hold a candle to the 280LM. I estimate that the 280LM is 4 times brighter. My Small Suns will be given lesser duties now such as a vehicle glove box flashlight because I'm very willing to give up it's small size for the outstanding performance of the 280LM. Real happy that I can use a single cell rechargeable battery too. I just purchase a couple of bicycle flashlight mounts form Meritline (I really like Meritline) to mount the two 280LMs I have. I think it's gonna be like riding with headlights.

I've ordered from MeritLine for several years, but this is my first review. The product is so great, I had to write. I ordered a Fenix E21 flashlight from Amazon and ran into this light on Meritline a few weeks later. At $32, the Fenix was pretty expensive for such a small light, but I was looking for something to hook on my bike. The Fenix is bright, but didn't cast the light that I needed for a bike light. This Cree arrived after only 2 weeks from order. This is a much better light for what I need than the $32 Fenix. The light is much brighter than the Fenix - I'm guessing 50% brighter. The zoom makes it perfect for hooking it onto my handlebars. I get as much light as I would if I were using a $100 dedicated bike light. I never would have guessed that a $10 light could work this well, but it's a real deal. I'm going to buy another before the price goes up!

This is a solid, well designed light at a reasonable price ($7 when I bought). The ability to take 3xAAA or 1x18650 is also a nice convenience, although most probably aren't packing 18650s. It's got a clip and lanyard for two ways to carry, One tip for owners, if you got curious and disassembled the rotating green ring, you may notice it stopped "clicking" when you put it back together. That's because the "clicking" is caused by a ball bearing under the green ring that is pushed up against the inside of the ring by a small spring inside a hole. When you pull the rotating green ring off the body, the ball bearing will go flying, and maybe the small spring with it. If you find the ball bearing and spring, put the spring back in the small hole and hold the ball down on top of it. Then put the rotating green ring down on top of the ball and spring. This will make the ring "click" again.

Was very pleased with this flashlight. Solid feeling, very bright adjustable beam. 3 mode switch was O.K. Few months after purchase, noticed that the light would only illuminate for a portion of the focus range and finally, not at all. Disappointing. Light was kept in a clean fanny pack and was not abused in any way. This occurred after the 90 day adjustment period so no joy on that score.

This is a nicely built light, and the output is very good by most standards. It is best not to keep it on continuously because it can overheat. I use it for house inspection work where it will be on for 5 or 10 minutes at a time only, I think it has reduced in intensity since I purchased it since I see a dark spot in the output after I left it on to test how long the battery would last using a Panasonic battery. It lasted over 4 hours. I don't think it liked to be on that long.
