I was pleasantly surprised to find this one has 5 modes. One click turns it on full intensity and then a light push on the button (not enough to click it), dims it to about half intensity. Another light tap dims it by about another half intensity. Another tap and it flashes at full brightness at about one cycle per second. Another light tap and it flashes SOS at full brightness. It is dimmed by changing the pulse frequency of the LED. At it's dimmest you can see it flash about the same as an old CRT TV. If you wave your hand in front of it it is similar to a very fast strobe light effect. It should improve battery life substantially. It is very bright and has a very wide beam that lights up a huge area in a 12x24 room at night. When you slide the front outwards it zooms in to a square area the shape of the LED. I wish they would coat the inside of the focus tube with a reflective coating as I believe some light is lost to the inside of the focus tube when it is at out at full zoom. I

I got my flashlight today. It took just under 3 weeks to arrive. I was surprised when I discovered it zooms the beam. It goes from a very wide beam to a very narrow one. It also has 4 modes high, low, flash and SOS. It looks like a nice flashlight. Now I have to find a holster to hold in when I wear it on my belt. None of my holsters are big enough

The housing seems to be good solid construction. It does not appear as bright as some more expensive flashlights of similar rating that I compared it to. The focus illuminates a large round area when set to wide beam, but when it is set to tight beam it looks like a perfect square of light imaged from the led's surface. I have only used it for a few minutes. I would give it a better price rating than performance rating. Regardless, I'm satisfied with the price to performance ratio so far.

Claims that the lens is coated glass. It is not coated and is plastic, not glass. Am disappointed because the item is not as described.

This is an amazing flashlight and by far the best one I own. It will zoom nicely but when on wide it throws off light in an amazing wide smooth beam with no dark rings in the beam. As for the brightness it is probably close to 1200 lumen while using a 18650 battery like it says because it is very bright. You do not want to look anywhere near the beam or you will be temporarily blinded. I was also pleasantly surprised my light also came with a AAA battery holder. Look no further, you will not find a better light for the money.

Oops, I should have read previous reviewer's comments. This unit does indeed zoom, which could be useful to some. (I still prefer a spot-only flashlight.) Worth mentioning is that as you zoom in, the beam pattern loses its circular shape and becomes square.

Be aware that this has a flood output, not spot. If you want a floodlight, it's perfectly fine (hence my high rating for it); but look for a different model if you want a spotlight.

I liked it enough I ordered another. The first I received was 5 mode the second was 3 mode. Quality is the same otherwise. I use salvaged laptop batteries for power.
