This is NOT linux-compatible as claimed. Instructions that ship with it say Windows XP/Vista/7. So don't plan to use this on your Ubuntu notebook as plug and play.

I can use the card in Ubuntu 32bit kernel 2.6.35.22. I got the RTL8192CU linux driver from Realtek.com.tw site. Its driver date is 2010/12/17 version number 2.6.6.0.

This product works well. its miniture size is great. The adpator can stay on the laptop pemanently without sticking out of the USB port. This device was a lifesaver since the internal NIC went out on my laptop. Highly recommended.

I could not get it to work. Auto-install would crash. Spent hours trying to install manually but could not overcome driver problems. Tech support did not respond to my emails. I ended up throwing it out. Bought a Belkin PCMIA card for about the same money and it installed easily and works great.

Tiny, installed easily on XP on an ancient IBM Thinkpad T30. Works surprisingly well on a USB 1.0 port!
