actually it does work with vista, it is a great convenience for me, just have to make sure you power down the drive before you remove it. i love mine, and am ordering 2 more

As a video editor, this is the perfect solution for data storage and backup. I can keep data and backups on multiple drives and plug those drives in as needed without the need to put the drive in a tray each time. Just plug the bare drive into the bay and go. These bays are well designed and easy to use. If you need to switch drives constantly like I do, this is the ideal low cost solution. Highly recommended.

Works perfectly with Vista Ultimate. One of my HDDs was less than full height so it was a bit tricky to get it into the enclosure properly. But once in it worked perfectly. It's in there right now as I type this.

This drive rack is great for my usage. I occasionally need to access a bare drive, but not frequently enough to warrant having a dock sitting on my desk. With this rack, I can semi-permanently mount a drive, but still have the ability to quickly swap in a different drive if needed. The item is actually better quality than I was expecting. The arm that pushes the drive out seems like it might not last forever, but overall it seems to have a pretty good build quality. About the only downside is that you can't really fit a 2.5" drive in this easily, as it relies on the size of the 3.5" drive to line up the connections. There's nothing stopping you from putting a 2.5" drive in, it's just too small to easily do so. P.S. For easily swapping drives in Windows, HotSwap! by Kazuyuki Nakayama is a great little app (in x86 or x64).

The tray works fine on my Hackintosh (MSI P55M-GD45 motherboard). No issues fitting different drives (WD and Seagate). Hot-swap worked once I plugged the carrier into an external eSATA port (with an eSATA-to-SATA cable) that had hot-swap functionality enabled. I took one star off because the connector on the back of the tray is missing some of the plastic that would otherwise allow a locking SATA connector to lock on. Disappointing, but for the price I won't complain too much (as long as the cable doesn't disconnect).
