200 Lumens output only if you use a 14500 Li-Ion battery. Granted this little light will put out roughly 100 lumens on a single AA, but will not come near 200 Lumens on standard AA battery

"200 Lumens output only if you use a 14500 Li-Ion battery. Granted this little light will put out roughly 100 lumens on a single AA, but will not come near 200 Lumens on standard AA battery." While I don't have this EXACT flashlight, I have the black one which appears to be identical (http://www.meritline.com/focus-zoom-lens-flashlight-light---p-44806.aspx) and I can say it is THE BRIGHTEST I have ever seen. Compared to one that's 120 lumens, this one appears to be SEVERAL TIMES brighter! So maybe you got a "defective" one. Also, I believe a 14500 Li-Ion battery is 3.6v, so assuming that doesn't burn out the (apparently rated) ~1.5v LED in this light, it stands to reason that would be LOADS brighter than a ~1.5v battery source. BTW, I use 1.85v NiZn PowerGenix rechargeable in mine which is much brighter than alkaline.

This is one of the best little lights you will find. I have bought and sold many of these in black version. These are rated by the manufacturer at 120 lumens max and the emitter is regulated at 450mA, at 0.7~4.2V max. My guess is you get about 30% increase in light output with the li-ion battery over a 1.2V NiHH rechargeable. I do not believe that any heat sink grease has been used on the emitter to help keep it cool but the housing does get warm rather quickly indicating that the heat is being dissipated. I keep mine in my pocket and use it daily. I get about a week on a rechargeable 14500 Li-ion battery. The manufacturer rates it for 40 mins. run time max.

"200 lumens if you use a 14500 battery" and its true. I already have the black version and i figured i can brighten my life if i got the gray one as well, but its totally different. it barely lets out any light unless its got more volts flowing through it. so unless you want to invest in a 14500 battery, stick to the black version.

This is the greatest small flashlight ever! I've purchased 5 of the small flashlights sold by meritline over the past year. This is the smallest, most light weight, brightest, using only one AA battery! The zoom is so easy that I can use it in the one hand holding it. That leaves the other hand free while adjusting from spot to a wide area. It is metal and very well made.

Best flashlight meritline sells as long as you use a 14500 Li-Ion battery. AA gives fair/good results but my 3.7v Trustfire rechargeable batteries makes this a great light. Make sure you use protected 14500 so you don't go over 4.2v

This tiny flashlight with a regular alkaline AA battery is a pretty good flashlight. Add a 14500 LI-ON AA battery and "torch" is a good description. This flashlight with the LI-ON AA put my Streamlight Stinger in the drawer. I thought my Stinger was awesome for years but this light out performed it impressively. I bought this flashlight, a LI-ON charger and four 14500 LI-ON batteries for less than one Streamlight retail battery pack. If you're a flashlight "collector" like me, you will be impressed!

WOW! BRIGHT!!! It really is a "torch" in your hand. Amazing you can get this much light from one AA battery. My understanding is that LEDs "in theory" convert each electron to a photon. That certainly seems to be happening here!

I just bought 2 more after purchasing 14500 Li-ion rechargable batteries and charger. These are great lights with this battery. Not too impressed with AA battery. Threads were a little rough, added some o-ring lube and it smoothed out. It does get warm. Love the clip. I use it every day. Recommended

Absolutely love this light. Most LED flashlights concentrate their output in a single hotspot, designed to throw a lot of light a great distance. This can do that too, but the flood feature is the best part. This light can really illuminate a large area with plentiful light. I'm using a 14500 battery but it works excellent with cheap AA as well. No fancy stroke modes - just simply, bright, versatile light. I can't recommend this light highly enough. If they made a higher-end model with a glass lens and tighter tolerances that would be even better, but I'll just buy 2 of these instead.
