Surprisingly sturdy for such a lightweight item. Extending is quick and easy. The first time it was a little stiff when extending. I am very happy with this deal. Very compact.

I was surprised at the quality. Light and sturdy. Compact yet tall enough when fully extended. Best is the clever lock/unlock mechanism. You can go from compact to fully extended without moving your hands in two seconds.

I am no longer recommending the "Fotopro NRA-55Q Monopod" to people, because mine broke. It was always sticking when trying to open and close it, since I received it (about 3 months before this review). I figured that it would loosen with time or maybe I would just lubricate it. After only using it about to take pictures, for only about 4 times. It really stuck bad on (2011-01-22), and I could not retract it. In order to retract the "NRA-55Q Monopod", I was struggling with it back and forth for some time. . . some of the small extension tubes separated from each other and a broken plastic washer fell out on the floor. Now the extension tubes keeps coming separating from themselves. I am feeling confused about how I might be able to fix it. Now that it is broken, I feel that it is made too "cheaply", and I wish that it was possible to get my money back.

Solid monopod. i was on the fence about it but after reading the reviews i went for it and was glad i did. the action twist to release each section is a bit stiff at first but loosens up. the Release plate was the main reason i bought this, plus it was on sale. The release plate is small and stays out of the way when mounted on the base of your camera. it is plastic but feels real solid. i put my canon T3i with a battery grip and 250mm zoom lens on it and it holds sturdy. the cool thing bout the replace plate is when you hit the release lever, there is a small metal piece that pushes the plate up making it that much easier to release your camera. the carrying case that it comes with is kinda cheap compared to the rest of the monopod. however the small belt pouch is awesome. you can use it as a holster then use it as a support in the secondary closed pocket making it a body-pod. great feature. overall it is a great product for the price. it when not on sale, you will not find it cheape

Worked very well on my professional DSLR. Small enough to fit in my camera bag, yet steady enough for low light shooting. This monopod can only be extended to knee height. I wish I had bought a taller version.

I ordered this on a whim but it turned out to be much better than I expected. It's amazingly sturdy for something this compact and light. Expands from 15" to 64" in 5 sections exactly as advertised and can be opened or closed to any length with a quarter twist. The (unadvertised bonus) belt pouch helps steady a camera while you are walking. And the quick-release plate is excellent. You can also get it with a ball head for twice as much, but most of the time you can angle this monopod as needed. Treat it gently and don't try to mount your view camera on it and it should last reasonably long. Small and light enough to throw in your bag for emergencies.
