An excellent monopod for the price. Build quality is very good and the twist-lock action is solid. The legs move in and out very smoothly and does not get caught. Easy to set up and use in the field. The legs could be slightly larger in diameter but it does not feel cheap. I paired it with my Manfrotto R498 ballhead and mounted my Canon 7D with grip and 400mm f/5.6 lens and it works flawlessly. When you need just a bit more stability out in the field where carrying a tripod is a hassle, this monopod is a great value. I don't think you need to spend a whole lot for monopods unlike tripods. For maximum stability I use my Manfrotto, but for on the go, this Fotopro monopod can't be beat.

I recently purchased this item at Meritline and am happy with it. I am not a power user, but needed something lighter than my Manfrotto tripods for wildlife shooting. This fits the bill nicely. In some ways I wish it had cam locks on the adjustable sections. However, the twist locks are secure. They are just a bit bulkier than I thought they might be. Weight of the unit is very light. It is very rigid when open. The reversible 1/4 - 3/8" screw is quite handy if you want to mount a camera or other device without a ball head mount. The strap could be made of slightly heavier material, however. The cushioned grip feels great in my hand. And this is SCORES of dollars cheaper than the Manfrotto I had been looking at. If this item had cam-lock legs, I'd give it 5 stars.
