This HDMI to Component Cable doesn't exist because: 1. HDMI is digital with pulses and component is analog with waveforms 2. HDMI has 19 pins and component + audio has only 5 3. HDMI has the HDCP copy protection signal whereas there is no component equivalent 4. A cable is a passive device made up of 2 connectors, solder and wires. It cannot convert one signal into another

Dont buy this on 5/8/2009
can i use this cable for hdmi out of laptop (HP Pavillion)as a tv out and connect to tv?

Yes, this cable can be used to transmit video and audio from PC to TV. Please check the PC to make sure the TV out function and corresponding connector is available.

For people considering purchasing this cable, please be sure to note if the TV/Monitor is capable of displaying the resolution that you are attempting to transmit it in. Many monitors that have composite inputs either support 320 or 480i natively, and most modern monitors will support up to 720p. ALSO, when setting up your dual monitor display, try the lowest resolution first, and then gradually increase the density to determine which resolution that your monitor will support. Also, as one other reviewer mentioned HDMI is digital with pulses and component, so it is critical to make sure that your system supports composite digital pulse modulation, most do not.

My Computer or DVD player is not detecting this cable. Looks like they sent me cable which is not working. and more over this is very small cable.

The cable never worked. when i tried contacting meritline, they never responded. Poor customer service and product as well. Initially they said the product would work with a laptop. Now they seem to have added a NOTE: saying not compatible with laptop.

Bought this cable to have my Vaio display on an older Sharp television with RCA inputs. I am technically proficient and was quite curious to see if this cable worked. It does not work. I requested Meritline for a customer service rep to contact me to tell what I was doing wrong OR issue me a return authorization. I was issued a return authorization in a few hours without a call. One positive to this is that Meritline's customer service is quick to respond to Return Authorization requests!

I tried this cable between a Blu-ray player and my T.V. and when it didn't work I attempted to remove the HDMI side and the gold tip stayed to my Blu-ray player and the cable side had the pin,wires hanging out I tried slide the wire back into the tip and they just smashed.

First of all the price got reducec from $9.99 to $7.99 within couple of days of purchase (by the time it was ready for shipping). I checked with meritline to do a price match but they didn't agree to it. But now the cable is junk. It is too short and also at the same time not working with my new hp laptop. waste of money. i want to retrun this but i'm not sure meritline will take it back now. waste of money :(
