Cavalry "Retriever" Series Dual Bay USB 3.0 2.5" / 3.5" SATA Hard Drive Duplicator Docking Station, Copy Entire OS (Bit by Bit Copy) Without A Computer - Black, Model EN-CAHDD2BU3C-ZB

Manufacturer Part # EN-CAHDD2BU3C-ZB

Description:

As an exceptionally powerful and useful hardware tool, this standalone hard drive duplicator turns what used to be a daunting and complicated task into a simple push of a button! Any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive or SSD, with any operating system, disk format, or file type, can be duplicated without a computer connection or any advanced computer skills. If the original drive was bootable, the copied drive will be bootable. Hidden files, system files, applications, license keys are all copied intact.

How can this be so easy? The Retriever simply makes an exact copy of every block sector of the source drive to the target drive. If the target drive is larger than the source drive, the extra capacity can be assigned to another partition.

The Retriever can also be connected via USB 3.0 to your PC or Mac when not duplicating drives.

I had a similar experience to Lee's. I tried several duplications that resulted in partial images. I upgraded the firmware and tried again. This time, both disks were trashed. It works fine if you just want a USB drive caddy, but duplicate at your own risk. I double checked the source and destination after the failure and they were correct.

This is one great little device! You can use it as duplicator or as a docking station. It works with 2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDDs. Very good and easy to use! I recommend it!

Worked perfectly! I copied my boot drive. When I swapped drives the computer booted into win XP and all of my activated programs worked fine. I didn't have to reinstall or reactivate anything. It works so well that I am sure that it will be made illegal or taken off the market. I followed the instructions on the quick start guide. The only problem is that when it is done the light for the source drive is steady green but the target drive light continues to blink. The documentation states that this is a JBOD DATA access to B. Huh? I don't know what this means but it didn't affect my copy of the drive.

I got it hoping for the best, after reading the one negative review I was hesitant so I tested it with a disk I didn't mind ruining; everything copied perfectly, it works like a charm. I made an exact replica of my 360GB hard drive in a 720GB hard drive and is running great, all my music, passwords and programs are working properly . If you get a bigger disk you will have to assign a drive letter to it (I am using windows), format the drive and it will be ready to store more data.

This is easier to use than a toaster. Seriously, with a toaster you have to set the darkness. Here, it's push one button. The unit duplicated a failing 320GB WD Scorpio Blue onto a 320GB WD Black in less than two hours. The user is elated. I'm currently using it with a bare drive from a fried PC. Well worth the price premium over a Sabrent DSC5, IMHO, especially if Meritline is has it on sale. It is a physically stable, polished solution.

I bought a Lenovo with a small factory HDD with Win7 pre-installed and a factory restore on a small partition. I needed more storage. I wanted a bit by bit copier to image the factory HDD onto a larger HDD and still preserve Windows. After reading Lee's review of "corrupt the source drive..." I was quite hesitant to use this device on my only precious C:\ as you can understand. I read the instructions several times and followed them precisely. I put new larger HDD into comp and it auto ran ScanDisk no bad sectors, no problems, Bam boot right into windows exactly with my software etc intact pefectly! I keep factory original as Backup. I do not understand the negative review posted here. 1)There is no firmware to upgrade. 2) instructions are very clear. 3) you do NOT need a computer for this to duplicate (in fact do NOT hook to comp if you want to duplicate). I think Lee confused "Source" with "Destination". I had great experience with mine and would recommend without hesitation

Very handy for copying drives. Much faster and easier than a software based solution. Only down side is it will not copy if the drive has errors.
