High Speed HDMI and HDCP 3 Ports Mini Switch with External IR Receiver and Remote, Intelligent Auto Switch, No AC Power Needed

The 3x1 HDMI mini switcher routes high definition video (in multiple resolutions up to 1080p) and digital audio from any one of the three sources to display unit. Three inputs accommodate the simultaneous connection of up to three high definition video sources, such as satellite systems and HD DVD players. The output sends the high definition audio/video signals to a high definition display. Aside from the manual switching, the switching can also done via the IR remote that is provided with the unit for added convenience. The compact design eliminates the bulk of an HDMI switcher while still having the same functionality.

    Features:

    • No power supply needed.
    • Switch easily between any three HDMI sources
    • Intelligent auto switch. When one source device is turned on or plugged in, the switch will automatically select this source.

This is the perfect companion to a universal remote with startup macros! Most TVs today don't let you start at the same input all the time, and boot up too slow to allow a universal remote to cycle through to the proper input anyway. By using this device to hook up three HDMI components to the same input on your TV, you don't have to worry about needing your universal remote to select the correct input for you (unless you use inputs other than HDMI as well)... you can just leave your TV on the same HDMI input all the time. The priority/smart input switching works great according to which slot you plug each device into. The only exception being that if you turn on a lower priority device AFTER a higher priority device, it will switch to that input anyway. But others may find that functionality more desirable.

Worked incredibly well and no you DO NOT need an external power supply. I love the smart control as it will switch to the device that's powered on automatically.

Claims "No power supply needed." This is not my experience, as it did not work until I connected a power supply from another brand switcher. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase a power supply to use this switcher, so add the cost of power supply (about $6.00) to the cost of this switcher. Slow to switch from one input to another.

When I got it, my cable box didn't work with it. If I turned on one of the other devices along with it, everything worked perfectly. I added a power adapter. Voila! Works like a charm. Apparently the DishNet converter box doesn't provide enough power via the HDMI port to run the switch.

Item as described, but it won't work with a Direct tv DVDR hooked up to it. It will work if it is the "only" one hooked up, but if you hook a dvd player and a Roku to the other two inputs the direct tv dvdr goes blank until you disconnect the other two. I tried hooking a dvd player, Roku, and a computer to the 3 HDMI imputs and they all work so it is something in the direct tv dvdr

I tried two units (one after RMA) and the remote only works from 5 feet away. I am now wondering if the power adapter is required for this to work correctly. Also, if you use a Directv receiver, note that they always have power applied to the HDMI port even when they are "off" so this unit will not auto switch (not the fault of this product) 3 stars, because support didn;t mention the Directv issue and because the RMA has the same trouble as the original as far as the IR receiver and no one suggested anything except to replace it.

works with pretty much most of the components in my setup, except for the appletv (160gb) - when i have the directv on and turn on the appletv, it has a displaying the appletv content (although it has switched to the appletv port) but if i turn off the directv then turn on the appletv (wait 10 seconds before switching) all is well.

Plugged the switch in and it worked great. Haven't used the included remote because the auto-switching works perfectly for me. Note: I do use a Harmony remote to control my system and I have the remote programmed to turn one device off before turning the next device on. Don't know if this is needed, but don't mess with somethin' that ain't broke!

Great product and price. It replaced our manual unit that cost 2x more.
