not hotswap capable everything works fine when the drive is in the tray on bootup. cant get the unit to access either spare drive drive unless its in the tray at boot. wd 500gb wd500aakx and seagate 1tb st3640323as. not going to mess with it. in the garbage

I think this is a nifty piece of computer hardware! I use internal HDD's for backup. but don't want to keep the backup's in the computer in case of a problem. So I had customized running power and SATA cords outside of the case to more easily hookup the backups. Not an optimal solution! This device solves that problem perfectly. It works, cables are included, installed easily (you need a "cd drive" size bay) and looks cool! I don't know about the "hot swap" feature. Hot swapping a HDD seems risky to me but it may be perfectly safe. Don't really have any use for the lock and key. Nice instruction manual.

The best hot-swappable SATA drive tray I've had yet. Very heavy duty, with internal fan. I highly recommend it(I have 4).
