" I ordered a 2.5 Combo HDD enclosure, using an Amex issued outside
the USA (I live in France), to be delivered to an address in the USA. At
the beginning Meritlines customer service looked very suspicious about this,
asking for fax copies of my ID and credit card (which I was ready to send)
but then they verified my credit card and found it OK. This step did not
involve any additionnal delay, and the item was shipped quickly and delivered
in due time. Thanks to a trip to the USA I could get the HDD enclosure from
the friend to whom it had been sent, and now Im happy with it. The reason
why I ordered this way is that international shipping fees are way too high
(almost the price of the item). The upper cover of the enclosure was slightly
bent (apparently a manufacturing defect, not a shipment damage) but I could
easily fix it. The screws are a bit harder to fasten than on a - otherwise
very similar - Momobay CX-2 enclosure, but the price is much lower so this
is OK. Once a disk was fitted inside, it mounted perfectly under MacOS 10.3.7,
no need to upgrade the firmware. Meritline guys: I would suggest you update
your product description at : the Firewire connection of this enclusure
is _perfectly_ compatible with MacOS 10.3 and above!" |
