I've used Military Lensatic compasses for years so my opinion of this product might be slightly jaded. They're nothing to write home about. I purchased two for my sons who I hope to give some basic orienteering training once the weather gets a little warmer (we live in the north-east U.S.). They look like they'll do the trick. However, the dial seems to turn ever so slowly and the magnifying glass in the rear sight is blurry. Overall quality is pretty much what I expected for the price. I'll get them better quality instruments once they have a better grasp of "care and maintenance of equipment".
