Hooked up to my new MBP 2011 thunderbolt port to my Sony 55 inch LED TV HDMI port using this adapter with the HDMI cable provided. Instantly the video displayed in 1080p. I went to System Preference --> Audio --> Choose HDMI out instead of Internal Speaker in my MBP. I immediately got the audio in the TV. I am very pleased and happy about this purchase. Thanks a lot.

Audio does not work with my Mid 2009 15" Macbook Pro. Video works fine, but no audio to my TV. I bought this cable for this purpose and it does not work.

Works as stated with a new (late 2010) 13" MacBook Air. On a Panasonic 50" plasma the MacBook screen switches from the normal display to 1600x900 automatically, but then the user can select 1080p. (The TV screen showed up as "PanasonicTV0" in the listing.) The sound output to the TV has to be selected in the Sound panel. That does not happen automatically. (The sound selection possibilities were "Internal Speakers" and "PanasonicTV0.")

The mini displayport to hdmi adapter (195-129) that I received looks nothing like the picture of the product. Near the hdmi port, the adapter is larger, and I would call the whole adapter beige instead of white. Overall, it is an entirely different adapter than what is pictured. I was expecting the adapter in the picture, which looks much nicer. I would not have ordered this if I knew.

Works great on a PC too! Tested with an AMD 6950 card. Pushes video and audio. The card gets confused and only uses one audio source if there are more than 2 hdmi connections that use audio, so no using monitor speakers and your home theater at the same time.

I can now plug my macbook pro into my HDTV using an HDMI cable and HD picture and sound goes out the TV. Just configure your MBP to output via the HDTV in the system preferences the first time you plug it, restart then good to go :D
