    I had another charger from Meritline but it protruded too far from the dash and interfered with my cup holder. This tiny charger fixed the problem as it fits very close to the dash. Works great and seems to be well built with a rubber/soft band around the USB ports for easy grip.

    Nice small design. In it's stock condition, this charger does not charge in "AC" mode on our Samsung Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S3 phones. It only allows charging in "USB" mode. In USB mode, phone charging took forever and would actually lose power if running GPS or other apps that require the screen to be on all the time. So, found several videos online that demonstrate how to short the two center pins to enable the AC charging mode. Why it doesn't come this way stock, I do not know. The plastic housing appears to be ultrasonically welded, so it was difficult to pop apart. It did get a little scratched up and a tiny sliver break off in one spot, but the unit will be inside the cigarette lighter anyway so it doesn't matter. I soldered the two center pins together for both USB connections, put everything back together, used a super glue to attach the plastic back together, put the rubber "tire" back on. Voila! The phones now charge in AC mode! MUCH better charging than before!

    This works as a basic charger, but there's no way it provides 3A like a iPad charger. In fact, based on my phone's battery monitor it doesn't even provide a steady 1A charging. My phone's 1A car charger is better.

    Works well to charge my Samsung Galaxy S3, haven't tried it with two smartphones yet but if it works to spec it won't have a problem charging then both nice and fast. Nice and discreet, not too big.

    This unit will trickle-charge your phone if you turn the phone off. Otherwise it doesn't produce enough amperage to keep the battery from discharging, much less charge it. Therefore it is of no use for powering your phone while you use it. I have since found that this is a problem common to these types of chargers.
