This is essentially just 2 pieces of plastic folding away.... forming a "rack" style stand for your device. It's quite small at 3.75"x1.75" w/ the smaller center piece folding out to become a stand. The folding mechanism is very basic & tend to be s little sticky/tight at times; but shouldn't be a problem if you don't plan on opening/closing it a lot. I'm not sure what they mean by using the "brand new special elastic material", but it seems to be plain ole plastic to me and nothing special. And since it's just a piece of plastic.... there's not really any "weight" to it so you'll want to make sure your device is not too big (it has only about 1" of device sitting area) or top heavy. I personally would not pay the $4 regular price for it due to it's extremely simple & basic construction. It doesn't even have some rubber feets to prevent it from sliding around. I got a few @ $1 sale & thought it's fair at that price.

For the people whose stands keep tipping over, you need to side the pivoting leg after rotating it from flat. If you can close it now, you haven't slide the inner part along the side grooves properly. Now, it doesn't collapse and/or fall over. My stand doesn't have the open clip (as shown in one of the pictures) to hold headset. Instead, there is one drilled hole which allows a 3.5mm headset plug to be inserted loosely at 90 degrees (not very useful). Anyway, cheap and pretty well made, worth buying.

For the 29 cents I paid it's a good deal. The stand is flimsy and the two pieces that slide to make it flat for carrying or to make it a stand tend to come apart. Barely holds my Droid smartphone but might be good for small media players.

You get what you pay for! Not a bad little stand. Definately worth $.99.

I have a small 4.3" archos tablet device, and even it was too heavy for this item to hold in portrait mode without being unstable and almost falling off the stand. It has nothing to help hold the device in place except 4 sets of raised "dots" that do not provide enough resistance to hold the bottom of the device in place. I would say if your device is taller than 3 inches, then this will not likely work well for you.

What can I say? I like these for what they are, and find them greatly handy to hold small items like a digital audio player. Although they can be a bit stiff to open, they open fine enough in the end, and are pleasing to look at, in my opinion. I've purchased a few for gifts--recommended (and it is hard to find something like these elsewhere; and certainly at Meritline's low and sometimes wonderful sale price). Only major quibble: Meritline should let customers choose the color (note: the white, nicely, is more a cream color than stark white).

What a useless piece of plastic junk. Directly to the garbage... not even recyclable.

Very lightweight. Not very stable. Surface is slippery. Cell phone falls off easily.
