Okay for basic continuity check. In auto mode it cycles through each wire from 1 to 8 (+ ground shield - most don't have this). The test button on the front is to manually cycle through each wire. It is geared for straight through cables, but could be used on cross overs (the sequence of lights would not be in order). I haven't tried it on any long runs, but it works fine at 100'. If using the remote terminator, only the remote end will show the continuity, not the main unit. The plastic case is fine for light or hobby usage but it would break if stepped on so it's not recommended for commercial use (although cheap enough to have a couple of spares). The on/off button is cheap and extends out from the side, I expect it could easily break off if you're not careful. Uses standard 9v battery. I measured the power consumption at around 15mA which could probably be reduced by removing the unnecessary power and auto light (case appears easy to open).

Meritline.com Verified Buyer Works fine. The 2 red and green LEDs are pointless, annoying, distracting and provide no useful testing purpose. I cut 1 lead from the green LED to disable it. One lead from the red LED can also be cut, but a 2.2k ohm resistor needs to be soldered to the leads attached to the PCB in order for the circuit to work normally. (5364710)
