usb is very handy works well once you get it to install, running windows 7 rc just wouldnt install driver correct untill i manualy pointed it to the driver it needed. remote sensor is built into the usb adaptor so no extra ir receiver needed. exclent picture and even the media software is comparable to the win 7 media center.and the radio is a plus when travling where tv is not avable.

I normally don't write reviews but this one is an exception. This thing really sucks. I have wasted 5-6 hours of my time and still I can't make it work reliably even though I am an experienced techie. The software is so flaky. It freezes the laptop and you can't kill it from task manager. Only option is to restart the PC. My Laptop has Windows Vista(64 bits). Don't buy it if you want peace of mind.

doesn't seem to work properly, no qam channels, poor analog signals, fm radio is just static, not sure if it's just my location or the product itself, but I got busy and forgot to return, so I guess I will have to figure out how to best use it, test it further or return to the manufacturer for replacement.

I bought this sticker for the QAM channels from our cable company. I first installed analog channels and the sticker works fine. Then I installed the digital channels and the program found many digital channels. I turn on the first ditial channel, so far so good. Then I switch to another digtial channels, the program hangs. The problem repeated. So I email the company, I quickly got a response and an updated version. Unfornately, the program still faid the same way. I wrote to the company again, it responded within a day, which is good, but the problem did not resolve. Then he said I got a back one and asked me to contact the ventor to switch a stiker. I am going to do that and will keep you updated.

This Item has a lot of feature and I love them all. There's only one problem that I have and that is my IP Security Camera isn't compatible with it unless I need to download a driver or some sort of software for it to function. I get a picture, but when I try to capture or record it doesn't recognize the device.

This is the worst possible product. I wasted over 8 hrs configuring it. The overseas tech support email responses were prompt but had poor English and kept repeating same steps. Eventually returned it back to store.

Easy to set up, receives plenty of digital channels. I plugged in my cable antenna with which I receive about 30 channels of very basic cable on my tv. With this in the laptop, I received about 70 channels, generally good reception but it takes a LOT of memory and a fast processor, otherwise the picture freezes constantly. I have 2gb RAM and I think you should really have 4gb tor tv and other tasks simultaneously. BTW, the arcsoft and total media software for this little thing takes over one Gigabite of your HD memory. Having a radio tuner is a real plus, stations come in very clear. I find the remote useless, simply does not work, tech support was not helpful with this. Also, the channels file is saved with some obscure file extension that you cannot convert to a printable file. So I had to make a handwritten list. The process for deleting channels is tedious. The printing of files to DVD is very easy, but again, you cannot save a tv program directly to dvd, you have to save it to t

The Mygica Hybrid USB TV Tuner Stick works better than any of my other three USB TV adapters. It picks up more stations and the HD stations come in better (smoother). The item was received in an acceptable amount of time and works better than expected. I recommend this device, and the seller, to others.

I can not make it work on the win 7 64, I plug the USB TV Tuner Stick into the USB port, the machine does not response. I tried to use all the USB ports, event USB extension. if it works, it should be good value. All my other USB devices, such as wireless card, drivers, and cameras, work well. since I discarded the package, I do not know if I can return it.

I'm sorry to say that this Mygica Hybrid USB TV Tuner Stick is a piece of junk. I didn't try it until a couple of weeks later after I received it and therefore I couldn't return it. I definitely would have. My money doesn't grow on trees. This item doens't get any reception. It doesn't do it's job. Maybe that's why they were "giving it away cheaply" in their opinion.

Seems to be a good tuner. However, on my fairly old PC (3GHz Pentium 4, 2GB memory) running Windows XP picture often freezes and software crashes. I've used only CQAM mode, quality of picture is quite good. It may work hopefully better under Windows Media Center or Windows 7, it seems that included software, not the hardware, has problems.

The unit works ok, but there is a 60 Hz hum in the audio system with the unit installed. The cable is not connected directly to the computer under normal operating conditions but connects to the cable modem which is not grounded to the computer chassis. With the Mygica Tuner in-line the cable is adversely grounded to the computer chassis through the usb cable producing a ground loop which would otherwise not exist resulting in a quite noticeable 60 Hz noise in the computer audio system, which to me is unacceptable. If the grounding problem were to be remedied it would have acceptable operation.

Meritline consistently offers the best prices on the products they sell. The Mygica Hybrid USB TV Tuner Stick is no exception. Being a USB device makes it easy to use on multiple computers. I had no trouble with the installation, and it worked the first time I plugged it in after installing the software. The HD pictures are better than the cable company's offerings. If you are looking for a low-cost way to view HD signals on your laptop, you won't go wrong using the Mygica Hybrid TV Tuner.

I had a signal for a little bit and when went back to try again it didn't recognize the tuner. I ended up taking it off.

Meritline's service was great, but this product is nearly worthless. The instruction are so sketchy (and so horribly translated) as to be nearly incomprehensible. Setup was very confusing, and I'm somewhat experienced with tweaking my computer setup. On one of my computers I couldn't get the driver to work at all; on another it worked, but couldn't be configured to receive any channels. Altogether, a total waste of money.

In my opinion this product is junk but at least it was inexpensive. I no longer use the product and packed everything away. If you want to refund my $30 purchase price, I would be happy to return the Mygica. I am very experienced with PCs and spent hours trying to get this working. The QAM feature (which is why I purchased the unit) never would work and the software consistently bombed on installation. I finally tried setup for over the air high def and this did work but I wanted QAM. The Mygica tech support is minimal and said to install updated drivers and a later version of ArcSoft. When these did not solve my problem, they said it was "my system" which is hogwash. The driver/ArcSoft combination is not optimized for the hardware. I finally bought a Hauppauge WinTv-HVR stick and this installed immediately and works fine. Unfortunately the old maxim of "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here.

Arrived quickly from Meritline. Worked for a few weeks and then stopped all together. Meritline replaced the USB stick in a few days, no problem there. It does not see all the Hi Def channels available on my other TV's and the ArcSoft product takes much work to get the "locked" channels out of the mix, after it finds all the channels it no longer shows a lock and this makes it hard to find the working channels in Hi Def. You must try them all.

Works well with cable but antenna was not so great perhaps due to distance to source. Video gets choppy some times on a 2Ghz, dual core notebook with Vista and 4 G Ram. May be due to a subpar video chipset. Does the job for college student for couple hours a week viewing.

Works very well with Media Center - I have not tried the Arcsoft - it does run hot and to get a decent signal in my area, I have to use an old set of rabbit ears. I've watched the Olympics and Survivor in HD for the first time (for me) and it was an excellent experience. Using Windows 7 / 64 Bit AMD

The product is a very nice idea but the supplied software never worked with my new PCs (XP and Vista) but strangely the TV and the video capture works with my 6-7 year old laptop with Pentium M and XP--go figure. Unfortunately my old laptop has small hard drive so I can't use this product for my purposes. I would not recommend the product because of the bad software (Arcsoft Total Media 3.5) included. I have another analog tuner/video capture from Pinnacle and I am very pleased with it.

Aside from the remote, this uses exactly the same hardware as the more expensive DIAMOND ATI Theater HD 750 TVW750USB. I use this in conjunction with a Diamond ATI HD 600 TVW600USB a for dual-usb-tuner setup in Windows 7 Media Center using a large over-the-air antenna and a cable splitter. I find the Mygica U6012A to be just as reliable as the ATI-branded 600 edition. I recommend using this with cable or a large over-the-air antenna. The antenna included is too small to be affective in most locations. Note: To install this in Windows 7, you will need to update the driver manually within the windows device manager. If you don't know how to do that, you may want to learn before buying this.

I finally got Clear QAM on a new cable system recently installed. The U6012A drivers loaded fine but regardless of the operating system (W7 and XP 32-bit) the Software kept failing to work properly. When looking for channels it would proceed to a certain point then fail. The failure was not recoverable. It was a .dll file causing the problem. I tried everything including setting it up on three other computers with the same result. There are no updates on the ArcSoft site so no way of fixing the problem. In fairness I have not called Meritline tech support or Arcsoft yet. Perhaps there is a cure, but until then I suggest this is one product to steer clear of. One of the very few I have been dissatisfied with from Meritline.

Not that impressed. If you live in a larger city where the over the air HD signal is strong it might work fine. I guess the signal strength in my area just isn't strong enough. FM tuner worked but was a hassel to get set up and fixed. I have Cableone for my tv and hooked it up directly to the line. Got a few channels but most either didn't come in at all or would but if i changed the channel away I couldn't get it back. Passed my return time so gotta keep it. Hopefully it'll work sometime in the future for me.

Very clear HDTV image. Works excellently in Windows Media Center. There is a slight 1 sec delay between the live signal and the HDTV stream (as compared to a regular TV). IR remote works very nicely, and does not require perfect line of sight either. Driver install was a bit difficult in Win7 x64. Required fiddling with the Device Manager to get it to work. Bundled Arcsoft software adds a lot of extra files and codecs to the system, not recommended. However, drivers are DirectShow compatible so works in any DirectShow media player, such as Media Player Classic. SVHS/Composite conversion output is acceptable, but not great. However, there is a half second delay in the conversion output, even though my CPU was not maxed out. This makes it difficult to play certain console games using your monitor as a screen.

I don't have much to say about this product other than "it works". Where I live, I can only pick up 2 HD channels via airwaves and they come in very well with using only the provided mini rabbit ears antenna. A longer antenna would most likely pull in more stations. I intend to split my cable in the basement and run a coax line to this little gizmo. Then I can watch regular cable on my PC while I'm working. One con, the dongle is kind of heavy and shifts a lot in the usb port, sometimes disconnecting the signal. Use a short usb cable and lay the dongle flat on the desk. Then no problems

It does as it claims, the software seems a little clumsy, and they protect the drivers with an install code like more expensive software, which I find odd for an inexpensive piece of hardware. Nevertheless, it is a good value for the money, it does the job of similar devices that cost 2-3X as much.

It was pretty hard to get working because my computer could not get a signal. The antennae works when you find the right spot to put it, but it must be by your window. I could not get one channel on my computer, so I just gave up and used the mini antennae for my tv that sits by the window. Now I have a 20 dollar mini antennae and a useless tuner.

Very easy to use, but would like to see some simple upgrades. You can cut out commercials, but the video has to be burned to disc (not stored on a hard drive) or the commercials re-appear. Would like to see a pause button so a seamless video can be made of several clips without having to use the cut feature. Otherwise, it's a nice, simple program that anyone can figure out.

Then I figure out the thing must have been broken cause the light that comes on when its pluged in kept turning on and off.I couldn't return it because of some stupid code they put on the envelop that I had tossed. it was a complete wast of time and money

This product works as advertised with regard to analog TV which is all my cablevision provider allows. All the digital channels require a cable box which is too bad. I did not get any FM reception with the device-- just static but I have no antenna attached. I am using it with windows 7 and media center. The remote works with media center except for the start / stop of media center. It starts the Total Media software instead but I find Media Center a better product at least with Win 7.

Excellent product; software is not perfect, but I'm still looking for any software that is exactly as I would design it! So much better the USB 2.0 TV box that I had... no comparison. Very sensitive for over the air TV as frequently I am able to get stations of nearly 100 miles away.

I'm unable to truly evaluate this product. I live in a 'fringe' area for digital TV reception. I didn't get any stations with an indoor 'rabbit ears' type of antenna. I expected that to happen. A roof antenna might produce a different outcome. I was unable to get signals from my cable company, because they've switched to encoded digital. This was expected, too. So I'm going to test it out while traveling. I'll test it in an area where digital TV signals are stronger.

The tuner works just as advertized. Loading the software is easy although I haven't determined if the FM radio not working is my fault, software or hardware. It just hasn't found any stations. I need an outside antenae to get local air TV stations although one area of my house gets some. I think this is a really good device and would recommend it.

The USB HDTV Tuner works well for my Father In Law, he gets about 40 HD Tv stations and all his favorite radio stations come in good as well. He lives in a big city with many tv & radio stations, and 15-20 miles from the broadcast towers. I hooked up to another pair of rabbit ears off an old tv set, and the Mygica USB Tv Tuner works well with them. Used on Win XP 32bit Sp3.

Works as advertised. Software & drivers installed without any problem on a dual-core PC running WinXP-SP3 with 4GB RAM. In the SF Bay Area, I'm 32 miles SE of the Sutro transmission tower. The ATSC tuner picked up 18 channels with the included antenna and 56 channels with my attic-mount antenna. Did not try QAM since I don't have cable TV. The FM radio and video capture worked fine. File size for video recording: HDTV = 5.25GB per hour; NTSC capture = 3.4GB per hour. The tuner gets warm during use (117F near the antenna input - don't forget to remove the translucent plastic sheet covering the vents). The included USB extension cable is a nice touch. The remote control is superfluous since it's just as convenient to reach for the mouse. I would trade the remote control for AM-radio capability.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I have gotten digital TV antenna type of item before. They have all provided crappy signal with my old Windows Vista desktop. I just tried this unit on my new laptop running Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium. To my surprise, the signal was strong and the picture quality looks AMAZING on my laptop with HD screen. The set up was a breeze with the included ArcSoft Total Media Software. It was simple to set up with Windows Media Center as well. I prefer Windows Media Center as it provide true full HD screen experience and comes with DVR functions as well. All the digital channels came through brilliantly. Including all those "secret" channels that I do not get at home with DISH Network. Now I can use my laptop and watch TV virtually wherever I go! For those who are having problems running with Vista, I would highly recommend upgrading your OS to Windows 7 and it should run perfectly. I HATE VISTA! Thank you Meritline for providing such a great product at

This tuner does not pick up any digital channels. It will only scan and find the analog broadcast. I have emailed tech support from the geniatech and the update they email me did not make a difference. I borrowed a Happauge USB tuner from a friend and it worked just fine so the problem is not my system. All those five stars must be from people using rabbit ears over the air. I have cable and I wanted to enjoy the QAM but unfortunately you get what you pay for in this case.

Installed the driver, not the Arcsoft and setup on my laptop using Vista and MS Media Center. Scanned for station using the antennae that came with it and all local digital station were detected. Some stations are obviously stronger than others, but reception with the little antennae was as expected. I also use Avermedia HD tuner on another computer, and results are identical. Cannot beat the price, especially if bought on sale. I have always gotten good results with Meritline on shipping. A better antennae would make this a five star in my book.

I have a Vista Home Pro desktop with 4 gigs of ram and cable TV. First of all the tuner setup will only scan the analog channels. When I select digital channel scan the application freezes and the only way to shut it down is to turn off the computer forcibly . The included Total Media is buggy even after getting the latest version from their support. I tried other media programs and Windows media, nothing works. Very annoying problem with the working analog channels. 9 times out of 10 the picture freezes when I start the program and the only way to try again is by turning the computer on and off. Big headache, disappointing product should be pulled off the shelf by Meritline before they start losing customers as a result.

Delivery was prompt and product was as expected. I didn't have my hopes up with this off brand but it works like a charm with my Vista 64 Media Center. The ATSC tuner is very sensitive and receives as well with the crummy little rabbit ear antenna included in the package than does my rooftop amplified antenna! The NTSC tuner is a little rough with analog cable, but acceptable. The ARCSoft software also seems to work well, although it will not play well with Media Center when the MCE drivers are loaded (common conflict). The FM tuner seems to work fine as well. All in all, a great tuner for a great price!

Mygica U6012A Hybrid USB HDTV Tuner - a terrific product at great price (thank you, China slave labor)! Software is attractive & functional. Tested on a dual-core 1.73GHz notebook, with 2GB memory, 160GB hard drive, & Vista Home-Premium. A weaker machine may be overwhelmed. Digital tuner receives & records SD & HD Over-The-Air as Mpeg2 video and up to 5.1 audio. No color, tint, brightness, or volume controls. Subtitles don't show or record. FM tuner receives & records in stereo. Composite & S-Video inputs record SD in stereo. Haven't tried Clear QAM. Record by time/schedule or mouse click. Video & audio quality is excellent -- see ATO broadcast recording snapshots (fullsize): http://www.fileupyours.com/files/302336/MyGica_OTA_SD.png http://www.fileupyours.com/files/302336/MyGica_OTA_HD.png NOTE: 1) You MUST follow the installation instructions EXACTLY. 2) Included mini-antenna is ineffective. Use a full-sized one & change orientation for best reception, per channel.

Excellent Product. I love it. Throw away the antenna. I hooked up my HD antenna in attic to it and plugged into my HTPC. Sweet deal. Arcsoft software is no brainer to stup compared to Media Center. Works out of the box. Media Center requires a psuedo IR blaster driver to trick into taking the composite input. Remote is perfect. I enjoyed it. 5 stars to Meritline.

From the all over the board reviews it seems like it's a quality issue. I received this unit. Installed the software and the proceeded to spend 3 hours reinstalling, fiddling, and finally giving up. FM stations come in fine for me but TV is is extremely hit/miss. Once I got it semi-working it would freeze when changing channels and then lose channels. The TVmonitor program crashes every time I try to start it and have to restart and mess around with that as well. Possibly works but not gonna pay the shipping back and forth till I get a stick that works.

The stick is easy to set up and easy to handle, pretty intuitive lay out. It scanned unscrambled digital cable tv channels nicely and recording from online tv schedule is a snap. The problems: you cannot print out a channel line up, no support for the .channel suffix. Deleting channels that are locked is a real tedious job, should be made a lot easier with better software. Next problem, the radio is very weird, I was unable to have a working scan function to lock in available radio channels, it just kept locking in every little increment, even when no channel was there. A waste of time. printing a dvd from recorded materials is easy, as is looking at, editing and saving photos. All in all this is a really good tv stick that could benefit from a software upgrade, especially for the radio function.

Finally got it to work for everything, to install the tuner and configure the Software to work with the tuner is not hard, to capture from external device, go into "Video" section to setup the capture device then everything is ok. The tuner works good, video is very clear as long as the signal is good, the included antenna is ok, got 14 channels from it, switch to a stronger antenna got 28 channels, and that's what I normally got from my own powered antenna, the remote did work, just have to aim directly to the tuner. Window XP sp3 and on board video, Overall I am very please with the purchase for this price point, and Meritline ship it very fast.

Wow, this receiver is hot! I am using it on the same outdoor antenna on which I have tried several other ATSC tuners, both USB and those built into TVs. This one receives the same stations but they are now stable. None of the previous tuners could hold the stations the way this one does. Markedly and substantially better. This is Definitely a sensitive tuner. None of the other ATSC tuners could achieve this level of stability. Same outdoor antenna, much better reception. The software is stable as well. It installed without issues on my Dell Inspiron E1505 running Windows 7. This is an older laptop that is not even supposed to run Windows 7. I made it Windows 7 and the ArcSoft Total Media 3.5 supplied with the Mygica USB Tuner is running great as well. People have to temper their expectations with over the air free TV. I love it but some people who were raised on cable or satellite are not satisfied. Nonetheless, at Meritline's low price this purchase is a "no brainer". Install it

I have to chuckle at some of the negative reviews on this dongle. The driver and software link is in the item description. Those who say clear QAM doesn't work needs to understand how to set it up in WMC, you can't just let WMC auto detect your dongle and set it up as a analog adapter, you have to select manually configure then select the clear QAM tuner first manually "then" WMC will ask if you want to add another tuner say yes and then select the analog tuner (you will also be asked for you cable provider), then it will scan (takes 20min) and when done both basic and clear QAM stations will be listed in the guide. I have owned this for almost 3 years and it runs around the clock. I am going to add another to WMC so I can record two shows at once.

Frequently goes on sale and would be a great deal if clear QAM actually worked, but doesn't find a single channel on Comcast cable, not in Windows Media Center or Arcsoft. I returned and the second one did not work, either. I was finally able to get a refund, so customer service came thru in the end, but do not waste your time if you have Comcast and want to use clear QAM. Analog did work, FWIW.

Does not find any clear QAM channels, unit possibly defective. I have 3 other tuners that find many QAM channels. Analog works but I bought this for QAM. Meritline support told me to contact Support@geniatech.com and ignored my return request despite the 30-day return policy stated on the product page. Very BAD!

Works Great with Cable AND Terrestrial Signals!,...Works GREAT With Windows 7 64bit and Windows Media Center,...Remote arrows only manage to maneuver whatever You want to Highlight,...and press "OK",..so it will still work the volume,..You just have to move "highlighting" to Volume up,..or Down,..and ress "OK",...Also,...it does the "Scrolling" through the Media Center with the Arrows,...and "Escape" returns You back to Last selection,..or Page. Overall Great produck for the Price!,...and a nice set of Cables! (S-Video,Composit,L-R Audio) For Camera or Video Recording from External Source,... which hooks up to the Micro USB Port. Also acts as a DVR!,...GOOD PRODUCT!

The tuner is weak even with an amplified antenna BUT I bought it also for the video input features. Compared to any other universal input (USB Video) this thing is superb. I have been wripping old VHS videos and playing my game consoles and my friend records gamepaly and FM radio! For that I consider the value an amazing buy (just reception is poor).

I so wanted this to work well. They claim it is Media Edition ready, but not really, as it only partially functions. It works, kind of, but a lot of third party software does not recognize it properly and you do not get full access to all tuning modes. It also took a LOT of time to make it work. Lastly, it is BULKY, and easily pulls out of the USB socket, and damaged one of my USB plugs. I cannot recommend this.

If you are using this device for its TV tuner feature, you will be pleased. The picture quality is outstanding, and the sound is solid. I would not use the supplied antenna for anything other than the radio feature, so use another antenna for TV. The video capture feature leaves a lot to be desired, and produces videos with loud scratchy sound. Basically- great tv tuner, poor video capture.

This thing works great. Easy setup...just be sure to get the latest drivers shown in the product description above. Mine came with ArcSoft Total Media 3.5 which I installed for capturing videos from analog source (ie, and old 'hi8' camcorder). For the price, this thing can't be beat. Only thing missing is a pouch to keep it all in when not in use...it comes with so many attachments I'm bound to lose something.

Using Win7 32 bit. I had a problem with the audio driver installing. Searched for the file called auvidongle.inf in the inf folder on the CD and edited the file with notepad. There are three lines with the letters VID_05E1&PID_0040 in them. Copy those three lines, and change the PID part to say PID_0400 rather than 0040 on the three lines. Save the file to a new CD or copy it all to your HD and it should now install. I did not install the application software, just the drivers. Then I used Windows media center and it worked pretty well. Good luck.

For the price, it does everything the more expensive tuners due just as good. Picture quality isn't great, but I haven't tried an HD signal yet, and SDTV never looks great on an HD monitor. All in all, if you want a simple tuner for your PC and don't want to spend $100, this is more than good enough for your applications.

I received the U6012A Hybrid HDTV Tuner in an acceptable amount of time. I didn't realize that it came with not just Cable TV and ATSC/QAM tuners, but as well with an FM Tuner. The Total Media software that it ships with works pretty well, though the intended purpose of the tuner was to be used with Windows Media Center 7, which it worked well with. I highly recommend this to any Windows user out there. I also tried it on my Linux box, but to less success. I expect a functioning driver for it soon though.

This product is awful. Using the ArcSoft software on Windows 7 x64, the video capture feature captured 3 seconds of stuttering video, and then the next 57 seconds were a freeze frame of the video captured in the third second. This should work just fine on my quad core system, but it seems to have an issue capturing video. In Windows Media Center, the antenna didn't pick up any channels, and only one radio station was tuned in. I would say avoid this terrible product and don't waste your time.

Don't really use this thing too much because, with the older laptops I have & their 1GB of system memory this tuner hogs WAY too much CPU/memory! CPU usage with the tuner is near 100%. I was hoping that it would be more more useful, but it's now tucked away in my laptop bag, collecting dust :-(

The included USB extension cable is flacky and caused other USB devices to stop working in 32-bit Windows 7 if other devices are hooked up via a USB hub. Throw that away and buy a separate USB extension cable. Remote: channel changing sometimes is inconsistent--it jumps around to other channels. Total Media Recording: does not record AC3 streams even if available for an HD program. It will only record the stereo stream. Suggest use other PVR software instead.

Second, Windows Media Center does not detect the IR software included with this piece of junk. That means you cannnot use it for your cable or satty box via composite or svhs input. Waste of thirty bucks. BUY a happauge instead. Sent an email to tech support. WORTHLESS response form them too.

If you can install it and get it to work the FIRST time, then it is an excellent product according to most buyers. However, if you can not get it to work on the FIRST try - then send it back or you will become extremely frustrated. Don't expect any help from the manufacturer or think you will be able to talk to a human being to help you set it up. That is non-existant. The best you'll be able to do is to exchange emails for days with someone in China. PS Meritline is excellent in allowing you to return products that do not work on your system. Just make sure you keep all packaging and components intact.

Works very well with Windows Media Center. Also works with AM Cap. Remote did not work. FM Radio is a very nice addition. Install the drivers, then plug in the card, unplug the card, and plug it in again, and all should be good in the device manager.

The USB TV Tuner and the remote seem to work fine (I use Windows XP) with the following caveats: Installation/TotalMedia: - Encountered the error 'The device is not available, or is being used by another application' when trying to use the device in TotalMedia. Solution (worked for me): - http://www.freecomforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1227 - I also removed the folder 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcSoft\MPEG Engine' before running Registry cleaning app. (Some suggested doing this to clear up mpeg decoder compatibility problems). TotalMedia 3.5 crashes: - TotalMedia would freeze if you unplug the USB stick while TotalMedia/TotalMedia Monitor is still running (even if you're not watching TV at the moment). - TotalMedia crashed if you change channels too fast. ATSC OTA Channel Scan/Antenna: Place the included antenna pointing one end close to one side of the wall seems to help pick up signals better for me. USB stick extension cable: Make sure you use a USB v2.

I'm raising my rating a little from yesterday's one star. I found out that I could use Windows Media Center (instead of the included Total Media software) that is included with Windows 7 Home Premium to scan in the channels and make recordings. But it sure took a lot of hours of personal research and debugging to get to that point.

The little antenna that comes with the product was not strong enough to pick up more than 3 local hi-def signals. Tuner works well for what it is capable of doing. First off, for those complaining of QAM issues, you must have the correct drivers installed for your version of Windows. Windows 7 did not natively support the Clear QAM antenna until I had downloaded the correct drivers. ATSC & NTSC reception works well. Overall, the product did take a while to properly configure, but it does work correctly.

Probably worth the 30-40, but not much more. REMOTE CONTROL is AWFUL. The IR TV software is always mis-firing and the button presses are never consistent. Aside that, the drivers worked fine on Win7, got it to work with MCE, no problems. I could barely get OTA signals with the included antenna hanging out my window, so I just switched to my rooftop antenna, works excellent.

TV Tuner works fairly well. The included air antenna didn't work at all but connected to my cable connection. I can view the analog channels but since I don't have HD subscriptions, the digital channels don't work. The ArcSoft TotalMedia 3.5 is difficult to setup under Windows 7. Couldn't get it to keep the channels until I ran it as Administrator. Also it stopped recording programs abruptly when it encountered something it interpretted as Copyright notice. I've uninstalled ArcSoft and started using Windows Media Center. This works much better both for recording and viewing. Overall it is worth the $30 for the tuner

You get what you pay for. Installation on my 64 bit Vista laptop was a hassle; even when I uninstalled the drivers that came with the cd and installed the ones on this website, it still said I had an error with an unidentified component (something with an inf error). I eventually got it working by installing the driver from the mygica website, but then the totalmedia software would freeze. I ended up using the windows media center software and it finally worked. Even with the fix, every time I reconnect the tuner, it reinstalls the unidentified component, but it works.

I bought this April 2010. I found it again and am trying in on a new laptop and using a good sized magnetic base telescoping antennae from a Axiom 7 inch lcd TV. The single most desirable TV station for me, the local PBS affiliate, only has sporadic reception. It works OK basically, but I need to explore antennae options. I wonder if the models that replace this one have any better performance. I got it with a bunch of other items, but with a discount it may have cost 35 dollars total.

Despite using all the latest software and drivers provided by geniatech support, picture and sound stutter or drop out every few seconds. A Hauppauge TV tuner in the same computer using the same antenna works without any problems. I either received a defective one or they all do this; either way this item is risky and you should be prepared to pay the return shipping. It took a week more than 30 days for me to reach this conclusion so I'm crossing my fingers that Meritline will still take it back.

I was pleasantly surprised with this little TV tuner. I live in a very mountainous area in upstate/rural New York. My nearest digital station is approximately 50 miles or so away. With just the little antenna (and a six foot extension cable I had laying around the house) it instantly pulled in 6 channels in stunning HD. It also pulled every local radio station and more in. Most radio stations clearer than my car stereo. With an outdoor antenna I suppose I would get tons more as my digital tv get from it's outdoor antenna. The av inputs are ok too I guess, Its just a plain old sd signal and nothing to write home about. I guess it would come in handy to transfer old home movies into digital format or to hook up and old video game system to. Over-all I am very impressed at such great quality and ultra low price!

I've been using this little tuner for a year now, and it works great. The integration with Windows 7 Media Center is perfect. For the price, this is a winner. The only reason to pay more, is to get one with dual tuners. I have another PCIx card with dual tuners and that is nice for recording one show and watching another.

I've had this running in my HTPC for a few days now. Included antenna only picked up about 2 out of the 30 channels in my area. With a much larger antenna, I get about 20 of those channels. The tuner works, but does not look as good as the built-in tuner on my Vizio HDTV, and only picks up about 2/3 as many channels. FM tuner works, but takes a few seconds to change between stations. The remote control is a joke. The IR receiver picks up signals from my tv remote. For example, when I press volume up on my tv remote, the Mygica tuner reads that as if a "3" was entered, volume down makes it think a "4" was pressed. This means I have to hide the tuner and can't use the included remote. Not a big deal to me, but may be a deal-breaker for others. For the price, it does well, but if you're looking for something you can rely on for all channels you should probably pay 2 or 3 times more.

Pro: On Windows 7 it was an easy installation, just install the software first, plug in the USB TV tuner with the provided antenna, and let the software scan for channels. While it did find 2 channels of about 9 digital broadcast able ones, I believe with a stronger antenna that it might be possible. Cons: Keeping a signal seems to be a challenge, but overall the picture was clear. Can be confusing at first trying to learn how to scan for channels through search, but not horrible.

I have 2 of the 6012's on a Windows 7 Media center. With the latest driver updates for windows 7 these work great. I am able to record 2 different channels at the same time. I have no problem with the FM playback like was mentioned elsewhere. You can not access the composite inputs from media center so I use Arcsoft for that. I had mine for over a year without any problems. I had a Superbowl party this year and everyone commented on how clear the picture was in HD. My system is on a projected 11 foot screen.

Worked as described. But of course not as powerful as TV. (Even with TV Antenna). This is how my laptop looks like:- System Description: Operating System: Vista, 32-Bit, 1 GB RAM Its a little slow on 1GB RAM, I would recommend at least 2GB RAM for Laptop for this app to run smooth. I installed Application player which came on CD along with GICA. Another note, this ships from USA, so delivery turn around time was preity quick.

Strange behavior in Windows 7 Media Center -- if this tuner is recording a TV show, and you also try to use the FM tuner, instead of playing the radio broadcast, it plays the TV show's audio. In a nutshell, you cannot use the FM tuner and the TV tuner simultaneously. If you use this tuner in a Windows 7 Media Center multi-tuner setup, make sure to set this tuner as lowest-priority in the Edit Channel > Edit Sources menu. That way you can make sure the FM radio tuner is available, except when all tuners are in use. If you don't care about FM radio, buy the cheaper version of this tuner.

Works well enough on analog cable. Finds few clear QAM channels despite other TVs which find 60 . Need to switch between analog and QAM, rather than scrolling through both. For twenty clams it was an okay purchase for a laptop, but don't make it the centerpiece of your system.

Works flawlessly. No problems installing on XP or W7 based systems. Using both Media Center and the provided software. ATSC tuner needs an outdoor antenna for best reception. Excellent clear QAM reception. I definitely recommend this product.

I didn't have a lot of hope for this to be an awesome gadget, but for the price I thought it'd be worth the gamble for a new toy to play with. I was right! This thing tunes analog cable tv stations as well as digital ATSC (over the air) and clearQAM (unencrypted cable) tv channels like a champ. It also has s-video and composite inputs for video capture from VHS, camcorder and other older, analog video gadgets. This stick works like a champ in Sage TV and I've tried it in Windows Media Center and a couple other PVR/DVR applications with success. The provided software if fairly limited, but gets the job done if you're not interested in using this stick for a HTPC or other dedicated application. I recently spotted them on sale again so I'm back to pick up another one :)

This is the third one I have ordered, and it's wonderful as always. Now all my computers have their own tv tuners. It's best using Windows Media Center. However, if you don't have windows media center, look up something called "NextPVR". It's 100x better than the arcsoft program it comes with.

I received this TV stick today. I had downloaded the new drivers for Win 7 when I placed my order so installation was a snap. I then installed the ArcSoft software without a problem. Do keep the CD envelope since it contains an install code. The Arc Soft software will allow you to save favorite channels however it seems to lose your favorites and I haven't found a way to remove those I don't watch. Windows Media Center does not recognize this TV tuner. How long will it last? I will find out. I am getting good reception on many channels in my SF Bay Area location and picture quality is excellent.

Bundled antenna and software are pretty bad, and remote is spotty and prone to breaking open if dropped, but the tuner itself, when hooked up to a good antenna and Windows Media Center, works just fine. Way cheaper than other options!

The included drivers on the CD only worked with ATSC signal in Windows Media Center 7. To get the Clear QAM signal to work you need to download drivers from mygica website. Once installed, it works great with Verizon FIOS. Tech support was fast, although there is a slight language barrier.

It worked so great on my Win7 32 bit desktop that I just got another one for my XP sp3 laptop, and it's also working great there. I live just outside of Kansas City and that little antenna is pulling in 22 channels for me, including all the major ones. On both machines the first thing I did was install the drivers provided on this product description page. Then I use WMC on the Win7 PC, and I use the arcsoft totalmedia app from the included disk on the XP machine. I'm not sure why so many others have trouble with this. Things went flawlessly for me on both machines.

The tuner works great. It does fine for over the air digital broadcast signals. You can also hook up any video source to the included composite video input wires such as DVD Player, or video camera and the computer will encode that into a usable digital format. My only complaint is that the antenna broke as soon as I tried to use it. When I extended one side of the antenna, it simply slid right off. Still receives a signal ok though.

Great deal compared to buying a real HDTV or if you have to travel with your laptop...I haven't tried the video capture feature yet. My HDTV gets only a few more channels than this can tune in so it's pretty good. If you already own a laptop and have cable internet a simple splitter will give you tons of channels (analog and digital) for free plus the radio is cool for background. You need to download the patch if you have Windows 7. Nice remote control! Toss the included antenna and order Belkin PureAV HDTV / VHF / UHF / FM Amplified Indoor Antenna sku# 218-268-001 it'll give you way more than the free toy antenna that is included; it will be the best $20 you can spend if you don't have cable tv.

I was surprised. This kit works for my setup just fine. I have my DISH DVR linked to three other flat screen TV besides the main home theater big screen by coax cable. Just loaded software and worked in Windows 7, but could not use in Media Center to view. Also would not minimize as small either, but split the screen to view and use the Internet at the same time. Also you will need a flexible coax cable and a 90 degree fitting to keep it from disconnecting from the USB port.

The only reason this didn't get the highest rating possible is because the antenna broke immediately. When I plugged it in, I went to extend the antenna and one of the sides came right off. It still works, so I didn't complain, but it's just odd that one of the sides of the antenna broke like that. Otherwise it's a nice product for the money. I haven't used it as much as I thought I would, but it seemed to work just fine when I first got it.

This tuner certainly has it's faults, or at least it's compatability with Vista...but am I glad I bought it...I guess. I use it to watch tv in my bedroom. I run a comcast box to it and the picture is very grainy. I also have to keep the tuner set to channel 4 and change the channel with the box remote...but it gets the job done. However, there are times when I have to keep reseting the tuner. It says the tuner can no longer be detected. I use the included software because it locks media player up. I've read a lot about doing a clean install, but I really didn't want to go through all of that. The picture's grainy (could be my system isn't powerful enough), it works when it wants to (could be compatability with my machine), but for the most part...I am now able to watch tv on my computer for a relatively inexpensive price.

It wants me to close the application using the device but it is not open so ??? Setup didn't take very long. I used the instructions on Meritline and I think I used the Win7 driver. I'm sorry for such an awful review of this product but we first tried contacting Mygica because the CD code was not valid. Once the new code arrived to install the CD, even my son who is an 'expert' level Techie wasn't able to get it to work on our laptop (Vista, for those wondering). We've had an excellent purchasing history with Meritline but the sum of the total parts on this item was to request a RMA to send it back.

This tuner works perfectly. I am using it with Windows 7 Media Center and using the included antenna. It is more reliable than the far more costly pro grade digital demod that we are running at our broadcast facility.

Amazing!!!!! this is an excellent deal, the image quality is an A Plus, just use a bigger antenna and forget the one supplied, I’m using a regular V antenna 2’ long, then you can watch real High Definition TV, the price is excellent, other brand selling for over $ 100 when you need this for Windows 7 compatibility, delivery was only 3 days, I really recommend this product, Thanks Meritline.

Downgrading previous review. It's going in my drawer of useless devices after 2 months of frustrating, error-prone use, often requiring rebooting. In Cleveland and SFO it captures only about 1/3 of the broadcast stations available. Also, copy protection prevents transferring home-made VHS tapes at all. The manual is nearly useless and also in poor English.

Piece of crap. Does not work with Windows Media Center on win7 x64. WMC needs to see the remote IR so that you can plug in, for example, the xbox 360 and watch it in WMC. Many emails to tech support in china failed to even ACKNOWLEDGE that there was a problem, nor could they understand what I was trying to say. DO NOT BUY.

Remote does NOT work with Windows Media Center, though tuner does. Since the IR receiver and the tuner are connected, having it plugged in screws up the IR receiver for the Windows Media Center remote I bought separately after the fact. I'm thinking there's probably a way to disable one in device manager but I haven't gotten around to it. I would take this one with a grain of salt.

I purchased this tuner solely to use with Vista 32 Media Center. For Media center, you only need to install the drivers. It is connected to my household antenna and it works beautifully for recording HD and SD digital OTA broadcast TV. If you want to use video capture, FM radio or other features, you have to install the software that shipped with it.

The seller is good. I received the product in a timely manner, but no audio driver for windows 7 that works for radio. The device also only picks up 1 or 2 channels if that, and I live in city limits. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEVICE AT ALL UNLESS YOU BUY YOUR OWN HIGHER GAIN ANTENNA AND GET DRIVERS THAT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7!

For the price much can't be expected from this device. With that said after many hours I was able to get it functioning. NOTE: DO NOT USE A USB EXTENSION OR FRONT PANEL USB PORT. THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES. I don't know if it was just my unit but if the stick is not perfectly aligned Windows does not recognize it. I ran into numerous problems when using a front panel usb and the supplied USB extension. Working on Win 7 x64. And also don't expect a 3" antenna to get good reception in your mom's basement :)

Windows 7, 32 bit on a Core 2 laptop. Received the stick and had a bit of trouble installing it for use on Windows 7. Did not use included software after reading other reviews. But downloaded latest drivers from above for use with Media Center. Took several tries to get the computer to recognize it, and then a few more times to get Media Center to recognize it. I bought this for use primarily with QAM channels. It works occasionally, but is VERY unreliable. I would say about 1/3 of scheduled recordings occur. The others don't take place with "No TV Signal" message. I'll be sitting at the computer, get the message, flip on Media Center, and there'll be no signal on that station. Flip to another station, get a signal, flip back and the station I want will magically reappear. Even for $25 I'd recommend saving your money to put it towards something better. The inconsistency is too much to be able to recommend this.

This stick-tuner works pretty good once you get it working. Just make sure you are using the drivers found here on Meritline (unless you want to use the lame included software) and Win7 Media Center. Works well (95% of the time) with my single ATI CableCARD tuner so that I can record something while I watch live TV on the other tuner. You could likely pay more and get something slightly more reliable and easy to use but you can't beat this for the price, especially if you catch it on sale. ;)

Note: be sure to d/l the updated drivers from meritline for either xp or vista before starting the installation. The software install went smoothly except when the bundled software 'arcsoft' asked for the serial number. It wasn't easy to find (on the flap of the cd envelope), otherwise all went smoothly. The channels available will GREATLY NOTE: I SAID GREATLY depend on your indoor antenna and whether or not buildings might block reception. When you get the free over the air (OTA)digital channel, they are beautiful and picture perfect.

This is a great USB tuner stick that can also capture from an analog source. It works great in Media Center, although the remote isn't very useful unless you run the bundled software. The Arcsoft software that comes with it is okay, but I prefer WMC. The little toy antenna that comes with this tuner won't do much for you unless you're sitting at the base of a TV tower, but cheap rabbit ears can be used and will work fine. Overall, this tuner stick is an excellent value.

Works perfectly with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The reception is brilliant and HD channels looked absolutely gorgeous on my 1080p LCD monitor. My girlfriend just bought this for her laptop and had me set it up for her. We skipped the packaged software and installed the Windows Media Center drivers listed on the product page. After the drivers installed I launched WMC and within minutes we were up and running. Picture is great, the reception is amazing considering how small the included antenna is(we're getting all but 1 of our local major channels, and even my full sized antenna has trouble with that one!) The hardware simply does what it's supposed to but the real beauty of this is the EXCELLENT features of windows media center!

But I did have a lot of problems getting it to work; I don't know what actually worked for me to tell the truth, but I downloaded the drivers from Meritline and from the manufacturer and tried the ones that come with the device. In the end I reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch and installed all the drivers, and something worked. If you have a few hours and have a backup HD to make sure you don't loose any important files, then go for it. PS the antenna included is just for show, make or buy one. Can be used with Windows Media Center

The product is very temperamental. You cant exit once you have it loaded other than rebooting. Hogs a lot of resource (I have dual Xeon with 4gb memory), to a point where you cant to anything else. Update to software (in the CD) are not available at the web site. I am in downtown, so the number of channels available is very limited (I get about 4). The included antenna is very small. Overall I give it a C-.

Works well on my netbook - found stations easily and shows clear pictures. Had issues trying to use it on my desktop ---not sure why, but couldn't find any stations - even though showing a strong signal. My guess is that it was an issue with my setup and not the product. Planning on using it with the netbook anyway.

All I can is WOW. This little thing works like a charm. I am using it with Windows 7 and Media center. I am stunned at the incredible quality of the OTA HD channels and recordings. I didn't use the disk at all. I only installed the drivers from this page, and then opened Media center and scanned for digital channels. It was up and running perfectly in a matter of 5 minutes, and most of that time was waiting for the channel scan to finish.

Works great. Does not require additional power source which is great. Surprisingly, the small little antenna does pretty well. Happy with the purchase.

The tuner is a good product. But the TotalMedia has very high demand on CPU (> 2.6 GHz). Windows 7 Media Center works on the tuner and has low CPU demand. If your computer is not so powerful, Windows Media Center may work for you.

Poor analog video quality, very grainy. OTA HD works well.

Works okay so far. BUT, it does not come without some issues, which I list below. 1) The serial number / activation code is on disk and not on paper sleeve that encloses disk. Really dumb since you will be asked for this information during installation. Only way to get it is to eject disk, which caused problem for me as it screwed up install process. So, copy code off disk BEFORE begin install. 2) Product did not come with any written installation instructions or anything else, for that matter. 3) Could not get channels to show up at first. Don't know if it was Total Media software or tuner. The issue was I had to use 'Safely Remove Hardware' to shut down tuner and then restart computer. (Was this the result of the installation process being interrupted due to having to eject disk to get activation code?) Once I did that an AGAIN scanned for channels, everything worked fine. 4) Remote illustrated in manual on CD is not remote that came with tuner. Had to get cor

The unit work well with both my desktop and laptop. The small free antenna wotks better with my DTV converter than a DTV antenna I purchased at Walmart for more money.

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but this product is excellent. I have not tried it with the ArcSoft TotalMedia software because I found that Win7 Media Center is amazing. Only a few negatives: When setting it up with MC, don't set it up as cable and antenna at the same time; it will not let you switch between them. YOu can, however set up ClearQam and Analog Cable at the same time. Every now and then I receive an error that there is no tuner found. I simply close MC and restart it. Also, winMC does not support the AV input. Overall, great product. HD is crystal clear and analog is good considering you are playing it on an HD screen.

The antenna is inadequate to receive much. At first I thought the tuner stick might not be working. A regular large antenna did the trick. I had to load the latest software from the arcsoft website. The device produces a very clear static free picture. The tuner stick is a real bargain.

Best TV tuner for $30; Win 7, Media Center for recording & viewing. Just install the drivers from the website if you have Win 7.

After reading all of the mixed reviews here, I went ahead and bought the Mygica hybrid USB TV tuner stick. I am not disappointed. It works well but could use an upgraded antenna. Surprisingly the little toy like antenna does work in areas with strong signals. The FM tuner is a nice bonus. Unlike others, I liked the Total Media software and feel it works well (Vista). I would buy this again.

This product did what I expected, pick up a lot channels with really good performance. And with the new driver from the website, it works under W7 64 bits as well. And its antenna is small but fatastic. Worthy of buying!

Was looking forward to using this item on my laptop in my home office. Unfortunately, it did not work out of the box. Would not receive signal on multiple OTA antennas. Tried multiple PCs with various Windows OSs with the same result. Had to return for refund. Really wanted this to work, but it didn't for me. Your mileage may vary.

Agree with previous writer. I have tried everything on both my laptop (XP) and desktop (Win 7) and can,t get this to work. Very poor documentation

The software for the unit seems to have caused a problem with my PC. Sent it back.
