    FAQ of Digital TV Tuner:

    1. Q: What antenna is required?
A: Although it comes with one, you can use any antenna to connect to this tuner, like regular UHF/VHF antenna. A larger and outdoor antenna is better for signal reception.

    2. Q: How to capture more digital channels with strong signals?
A: It varies with factors like different brand of antennas, antenna direction and position, PC location and building structures. Pointing antenna to different direction to test the reception and for sure you will get better signals when you have an outdoor antenna or place the indoor antenna near the windows and at higher position.

    3. Q: Will i get 1080i or 720P video through this tuner?
A: yes. All PC and laptop LCD monitor has higher resolution than 720P.

    4. Q: How many Over the Air HD channels in my area?
A: Go to antennaweb.org and input your address. You will see all the digital and analog channels available in your area. Another Website is www.titantv.com

I bought this USB tuner because I wanted to watch TV over the antenna, but the included antenna is a joke. I then bought the directional Artec antenna on this site. I got two more channels, but none of the major channels (ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX). The included software is pretty bad, and you can't use it with other software.

Does not work with Windows 7, Arcsoft will not run nor will it work with WMC.Works just fine with Vista using Windows Media Center. Arcsoft works but could be better. Meritline shipping is quick, even with Free shipping.

This little stick picks up the local digital stations just fine (assuming you have a decent antenna, if not visit youtube for how to make one out of coat hangers). It also works just great on my netbook which only has a 1.6 MHz processor! This is a good buy.

The USB stick works as mentioned. However the remote is piece of crap. It never worked. So, for the price I paid, the USB stick was the working thing. Antenna is not really useful. You may need a better Antenna.

the tuner im sure works perfect, but what lowers its quality is the antenna that is included, the reception is very very poor. i even bought a different antenna from meritline the reception was better than the previous but not like a regular tv antenna.

Meritline service is good as always. The product is not that exciting -- * the included antenna is very very weak. I live in urban area and my TV can pick up a dozen OTA channels with no problem. This one got 2 when I put it near a window (0 otherwise). * with cable, it could register more or less all the 250+ channels, but almost all of them are "locked" -- I could only watch a community channel and a couple of gospel channels. Note that all the channels are clear QAM -- I don't have premium channels and don't use a set-top box. I would guess this may have something to do with "digital rights protection", but then what is the purpose of this product then? I only hope that this is an issue with the included software, otherwise the device is useless. It is not worth returning, but I don't much use of it.

Easy to install, but make sure your service packs are up to date. First time scan actually found stations my digital convertor did not see. Did find out that for some reason it would not recieve stations when I used a 10ft USB extension cable to try and move the antenna to a spot were I thought it would have better reception. Overall satisfied with the product.

The tuner works great. My netbook isn't quite up to receiving the HD channels, but I didn't really expect it to. Picks up all the local channels quite well, even with the dinky included antenna.

Works fine, antenna is not very sensitive, may be location; using an amplifed antenna receives many more stations.

The device works well if you have a system that is a little more robust otherwise you will have issues I have tested the device on several systems the more robust the system the better the device worked. More Ram, faster Processor and fewer applications running made for a better experience. Otherwise you get reception that freezes, lags, et cetera.

This was my second "tuner stick" and I have been very pleased with both of them. I also have the Avertek version and all three perform identical. The Avertek cost twice as much as the Mygica. The only flaw found, the Mygica will not work with Windows 7 WMC. The Arcsoft is needed for Win 7.

Not bad but make sure your cpu is capable of 2.5 ghz or faster or HD channels will be choppy. My 1.8 ghz laptop can't process the HD signal fast enough. My 2.2 ghz desktop will play the channels fine but freezes up when trying to record. The instructions recommend a 3.0 ghz processor or faster in order to record and I would have to agree with that.

Seems to work okay. The included antenna pulled in some but not all of the available free digital channels. I then attached the cable instead and I get about 10 channels out of the 100 or so. I guess the cable company blocks some as they had a lock symbol. Overall for the price it was a good deal.

Horrible product. The USB stick barely loaded the software, and the reception only picked up one spanish channel, whereas my TV picks up nearly 40. The video quality was worse than 320X240. The return policy on these things stink - especially when you're buying things that only cost nearly the same price of the return shipping costs. I've bought a lot from Meritline, and probably still will, but will do so much more cautiously in the future. Would suggest the same for you.

Nice idea, very portable. I replaced the antenna hoping to get more channels (I live in NYC) but I only get two consistently. Didn't have much luck with the software but Media Center seems to work ok. I don't bother with the remote. Might take it with me and use it on my netbook, hopefully more channels elsewhere.

I must give this product a poor rating simply because of it's poor advertisement, instructions and spec sheet. My machine has enough power to handle the requirements for standard definition. However, this must me broadcast in standard def, not my recording options. Therefore, I am unable to record any of the major networks primary channels, as they are all broadcast in High Def. Had Mygica or Meritline gave a better description of the requirements I would not have made the purchase. As for now, I will hold on to the recorder, but I will not be able to us it until I upgrade my pc. (Not for a while) I'm very disappointed with the entire transaction.

A poor product in my opinion. The software found no chanels although clear QAM is available where we live. Technical support was responsive, but not at all helpful - they indicated the results I obtained were attributable to absence of QAM. Product returned and replaced with another brand which works quite well.

Absolutely worthless. I have been getting television over the air for three years on my HD TV. I pickup 36 chanels, most I would never watch, but I could not get a single channel with piece of sh*t from my home or office. I didn't even bother to return it. Wasn't worth my time or postage. Without a doubt I think it's the antenna is to blame.

Tuner works great with win7 64 on a Intel core2 2.2gig laptop, uses about 30% of the cpu to watch hdtv live. Did not try any software provided except maybe the driver. The mini antenna is ok in a strong signal area. The tuner appears to more sensitive than a full pci card I have. Over all a great deal.

Well... it does what it says. It doesn't claim to work with windows media center, just Windows 7. But even then, the software is really dated and I was never able to get the remote to work. I wish I had spent the extra money on a better tuner.

The tuner was not very high quality and did not work. Pros: The software provided was easy to use. Cons: I could not get a signal from Digital Cable. I tried multiple cable lines to no avail. After speaking with the manufacturer, I returned the product. Try at your own risk.

I have been having issues with using this tuner in GB-PVR. The driver crashes many times and I get 0 byte recordings. I am still waiting for an updated driver, but as of 5-22-2010 it is still a year old for windows 7 64 bit. I hope they correct this soon, as it seems to do a good job when the driver doesn't crash. It may be a problem with GB-PVR, but I think not since it just uses the same DBA drivers windows media center uses.

It seems to do basically what it was advertised to do. I am using Windows Media Center with Windows Vista Ultimate. The driver installation to accomplish this was more painful than it needed to be. Also, the remote-control functions aren't compatible with Media Center, but I wasn't expecting them to be. On a scale of "Junk" to "Awesome", I give it a "Meh".

I had really high expectation for this item but it turned out to be a bit different. I cannot view all channels that my comcast cable company offers. I just get random channels. I got this to record all the world cup games on my computer and it's working great! Too bad I can't get HBO, SHOWTIME, CINEMAX and all the other channels my company offers. Don't think you'll get all the channels because you'll be very dissapointed. Great price tho.

Bought the Mygica A680B USB HDTV Tuner in July 2010. The hardware itself is mediocre. Catches most of the regular off the air TV signals. The only subpar is the software that comes with it. Because I use it on Windows XP, the software is a little bit stiff...

The side covers came off first time I tried to unhook from the USB port. It gets extremely hot. And the software has issues also, it freezes up from time to time and locks; that is, it's difficult to even kill the program.

Works great with Windows Media player in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Tried both 32-bit and 64-bit. Included software and remote control are worthless. Included antenna is OK, but better to connect to QAM cable, roof antenna, or better "rabbit ears". If all you want to do is time-shift broadcast TV this device works just fine. This HDTV tuner is a decent product for the price. HOWEVER, I did have troubles with it and only works on a limited level. I didn't try the provided antenna b/c I assumed it was worthless. I tried to scan clear QAM cable channels through Time Warner and had problems. The program would crash during the scan, plus it would show different channels each time. I couldn't get the channels I wanted that show on my TV. I have XP without Media Center, so primarily used the provided Arcsoft software. I tried other programs with no success. I believe it may be DVB based QAM, not ATSC and that may be the problem in the States. Not totally sure. The remote worked, but only if I was 3 feet away, so pretty useless. Overall, only buy if you only want digital HD channels over the airwaves and have a good antenna. Otherwise, you will be disappointed.

I like this product, but it has its limitations. It gives clear pictures on my 15.6 inch laptop monitor. I typically use it from within a coffee shop with wireless. This is in San Diego. It typically will get several channels, with strong or adequate signal, but not all that would be available with an outside antenna. The small antenna and short lead is probably the primary limitation. So, one should expect uneven results from place to place. Where you orient yourself would probably effect which signals you get. If you plan to use it from one primary location, then take effort to connect it to an adequate antenna. It takes its time scanning through the available channels.

Ok product. You definitely need amplified antenna because I think the internal sensor is weak. Even though my tv was picking up channels, the tuner wasn't picking up all. So if you buy it, buy an amplified antenna too.

This tuner works well for over-the-air broadcasts, but is terrible at locating and tuning to clear-QAM channels. Media Center's scan did not find any clear-QAM channels. The software shipped with the unit did, but could not later tune to them reliably.

Good product. Simple installation and configuration with Windows Media Center. Software that comes with the stick is pretty lame I removed that software and only installed the driver from the CD. The application on the CD wouldn't find half the channels Media Center did. Good video quality. I did have problems with Media Center and using two tuners, I had to install one on a different computer to be able to record two shows at one time. No big deal just transfer the video to the computer hooked to the TV over my network. I would recommend this product using cable, don't know about the antenna

Does not work!! I plug it into my Windows 7 machine, hook up the cable and it doesn't work! The channels start to load, takes about an hour, but then like half way through the program freezes and my computer tells me it must be ended. And no matter how many times I try it it always does this. I don't want to call customer service because it costs $10 which is a fairly major fraction of what I piad for the thing!

In general, works well for me as an OTA ATSC tuner. Can't comment on cable. Works with BeyondTV. The only issue is that every now and then, it seems to lose the signal and programs don't get recorded. This is our 2nd tuner for BeyondTV so I can't be positive it's the Mygica vs. some interaction between the drivers for 2 different tuners, BeyondTv, or whatever.

Hardware works well. Good HDTV quality and has better sensitivity than my AverMedia HDTV USB dongle, so it receives more TV stations. It generates a little more heat. But the bundled software is a different story. It froze when the number of stations scanned reached certain number (~200), had to kill the process to get PC back, and channel list editing is a disaster; no scrolling of channel list, has to click-by-click to reach the channel you want. Imagine that to scroll thru 200 channels.

Originally A680B tuners worked fine. But now, after 4 months in service, one of the 4 started giving me "no signal" error in WMC 7. An e-mail to tech support was like Chris Tucker talking to Jackie Chen. "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?!?" I stated that the tuners worked fine for 4 months, and now I am getting the "no signal" error after having the tuners on for a few hours. Switching channels shows program for a minutes, then "no signal". Restarting shows programming for a minute, then then "no signal" error again. Their answer is that A) these tuners are incompatible with multi-tuner set up. B) The "no signal" error is a WMC problem. What? A) I have had 4 of them running fine for 4 months. B) The "no signal" issue only comes up after a couple of hours of TV on, i.e. tuner is getting hot. Turning it off and letting it cool solves the issue for another couple of hours. Poor customer support!!!!

Works good, lets me watch most of the digital channels from Comcast. I say most because there are some that it doesn't see, not sure why. I don't use the remote so I don't have any comment on that.

bought for my laptop. Very easy to install and navigate. I am surprised at how very well it works. I have poor reception in my area but scanned in 18 over the air channels. When I scanned cable channels i scanned in many more channels than I get with my basic cable service, so I'm very pleased. I love the tv recording function to the hard drive and was able to burn dvd's of the recorded shows without any problems. I wish they had a function to record to dvd disc directly from tv. the only complaint I have is that I cannot get the remote to work right. It's all messed up, the controls don't do what they are supposed to do. So I use mostly the laptop controls. That's the reason I give it a 4, not a 5. Still, overall, a really neat, useful little gadget!.

So you're thinking... Why would I buy a product rated 3 or 5 stars? If you read through the reviews, there are a number of reasons people give these negative reviews. Poor antenna.. poor software.. couldn't figure out installation.. didn't work with my cable.. etc. Well, if you're using these for over-the-air broadcasts, using your own antenna, using windows 7 media center, and you're savvy (or persistent) enough to install and setup, you'll probably love these things as I do. Using the TunerSalad mod, I have a 7-tuner setup using these and a couple other brands. Windows 7 media center lets you set a specific tuner to a specific channel, so I have 2 dedicated tuners hoocked up to a VHF antenna for my 2 VHF stations. The other 5 tuners cover 15 UHF channels. One con -- these do run a little hot, and I've had a couple of them die after extended use. Probably because I have seven of them clustered together on a signal booster.

Great deal when its on sale! Worked great with 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium media center and Comcast cable. Used W7 driver from meritline link. (be sure to kill any other video using programs during the install, like Skype and maybe unplug any webcam to avoid file permission errors during driver install.) Did not try the remote or any software on the included CD. Picks up 50-100 clear (unscrambled) QAM channels on San Jose Comcast system. Includes all the local HD channels and the HD looks great. Note Media Center only shows local QAM channels until you go into settings and tell it to display all the "unknown channels". Found link with instructions via google but can't remember it now.

Works awesome on Windows 7 with Windows Media Center. You don't need to install any software from the included CD to get this to work. You'll want to install the infrared software though. Just get the Win7 drivers that's linked in the product description and launch Windows Media Center. Set up is easy and picture quality is great with Comcast. Time-shift and recording works without any lagging. I haven't tried over-the-air using the antenna. I have it on an Acer Aspire D250 with 2GB of RAM. It also works fine with my Dell Inspiron E1405 with 2GB RAM. Awesome value for the price. I may just buy another!

I purchased this because it was suppose to support QAM-256 unencrypted cable signals. I am using win7. Pros: The card will pickup ATSC over the air channels and a few cable TV channels. The audio and video quality playback is good... (when it decodes a signal). Cons: I only able to pickup a few channels on the FIOS cable system in Dallas. This same cable outlet will deliver many unencrypted channels on my standalone TVs. I also did tried adding an amplifier cable jack output (in front of the A680B USB Tuner) So far none of the drivers or suggestions from technical support have helped the problem. Has anyone had any luck at getting any of these Geniatech tuners working on the FIOS cable QAM-256 system?

I'm surprised how well this thing works. I hooked it up to a small dual-core Acer netbook. and it was able to record and playback HD OTA program just fine. Software needs a little finesse. Having to rearrange acquired stations is a real pain. An option to play the program in a stand alone, resizeable window would be nice. As usual, the included portable antenna is for emergencies only. If you want a good reception, use a real outdoor antenna. Overall, you can't complain about the quality of capture or display especially for the price.

Installed easily on a Windows Xp professional box; Was pleasantly surprised at how clear the picture was (this is also dependent on the computer you're running). Just be forewarned: it does get hot. So if you're using this as a tuner for a HTPC make sure you have plenty of air circulation for it. Cons- The included antenna won't pickup much: buy one or make your own to get better reception; The remote only works if you have an IR receiver on the computer

Bought this 8/10/2010 - works as advertised, but no real software updates and slow to switch channels effectively. NOT MCE compatible (I've tried every driver combination to try to get it to work on Windows XP, Vista and 7 as a recognized tuner within Microsoft's MediaCenter software - and it will be recognized.) If you want a digital-only tuner to watch TV - GREAT :: DVR functionality? Yeah, it's there, but don't expect TiVo-type full integration.

Works great out of the box. Plugged it in and Windows Media Center found it, spent a few minutes scanning for channels and I was done. Now, you must remember that the antenna you use is THE MOST IMPORTANT aspect of this. The included antenna is crap and I got nothing when first using it. I had bought one of the "flat panel" type antennas and just hooked it up to my TV. I got virtually nothing in reception. I had to move the antenna up into the attic and then all the major local channels came in perfect. I then ran that cable to the Mygica tuner and voila! I got all the same channels in crystal clear HD. Works great as a DVR. Couldn't be more pleased, especially with what this costs. FYI, I have not tried the remote. To summarize, if you get crappy reception nothing is gonna make this device work well. You need a good antenna system.

Sorry, here is the second part couldn't fit the whole review in one. first, don't do this unless you are out of the return or replacement policy or just like me, don't want to pay for the return shipping and don't care if you break your tuner. •Take the tuner out of your computer's USB port, gently push/bend the tuner's USB connector slightly upwards ("HD TV Stick" up, serial number down) . Don't try to bend it while it's connected into your PC, you don't want to break your USB port, don't use force, , all you are trying to acomplish is to get the inner connectors make contact with the board. Now try it, If it still doesn't work try to bend it again, until you get your computer to recognize it then you can go on with the driver installation. If you got your drivers from Meritline you have to use the setup.exe to install the drivers then restart your PC, I downloaded the drivers from Mygica because they include a folder with the inf file I need so I didn't have to run the set

1 star for quality control and the hassle I had to go through. For those who couldn't get it to install, the problem is the hardware not the drivers. I'm not going to talk about what I went through to realized it's a loose connection inside the tuner, instead I'm going to explain the symptoms and a possible fix if you don't want to go through RMAing and shipping. A bad tuner will do the following: 1- When it's connected to PC you get a message in the task bar saying " USB Device Not Recognized. One of the usb devices attached to this computer has Malfunctioned.. etc" 2- In device manager under "Universal serial bus controllers" you'll see "Unknown device". A good tuner will do the following: 1- With a working tuner, in the task bar you should see "windows could not install drivers successfully" or something close in the task bar. 2- In device manager you should see a new entry "Other Devices" and when you expand it you'll see "Auvitek". Here is the fix for bad

Unimpressed with this. I have this connected to my desktop. I am running XP-Pro on a Quad Core CPU and 4 gigs of ram. My system is less than 6 months old. I am also running HDMI out to my monitor via a Radeon 3200 video card. I can normally play 1080P files with no problems whatsoever. This is connected to my cable serv. When scanning, it finds all the channels but will only play the digital ones. The SD digitals play ok but the HD ones (720p and 1080i) are jerky and pixelated. This device can not handle the HD channels and will not play the regular channels..so worthless.

Today (13Apr2012), I ordered my second A680B. It is an awesome product. I bought the 2nd because it delivers an excellent HDTV picture. I currently own 3 (6012A) and 1 (680B) tuners. Unless you get a defective unit then you should have a good experience. The picture is BETTER than my QAM cable signals. If you do not then consider my recent experiments. Using windows 7, I can record (on an amd c60 1ghz netbook) two simultaneous HDTV channels and watch them in realtime over my lan on another computer or watch one channel while recording another on that netbook. I am frustrated with reception and and the remote. I can receive almost seventy local stations (phoenix az). But if I move my (amplified antenna) just a few cm then I can loose over 25 channels. Yes the included antenna is limited but placement is REALLY that important. The biggest surprise was that media center and total media don't pick up the same stations with the antenna in the same place. I could write a lot more but I mix

If you know what you are doing, a fast CPU and a good TV antena is a must to bring in all the channel and works properly. Remote is too slow, I don't think I will use it at all. For less than $30 you got yourself a HDTV and DVR, so you don't have to fight with your wife for TV anymore. Works nicely with media center except media center don't give you signal meter if you need to adjust antena. A very good product, only recommand to people who understand what is required to this kind product work.

Works as described for less than half of similar tuners. As with any HDTV tuner, it's difficult if not impossible to set the antenna so all stations come in. I have two HDTV converter boxes and an internal TV card and this is every bit as good if not better.

At first, I was very impressed with this tuner....easy to install, and with a larger antenna than the one provided, it actually picked up more channels than my TV! Unfortunately, the remote control malfunctioned after only a few uses....several buttons failed to work, in spite of careful handling, and new batteries did not correct the problem .

Pretty much a duplicate of most other reviews, all cable channels locked, and the included antenna picks up nothing. An old pair of rabbit ears got all the stations per tvfool in the Phoenix area. Most annoying that this tuner locks all the cable stations that my TV picks up just fine. (No converter box)

I expected to be dissappointed based upon the low price and a few negative reviews, instead this device exceeded my best expectations. It works great and within a short setup time, I was watching 13 over the air broadcast stations with the included antenna. One suggestion -- I had previous experience with an identical antenna that came with a portable tv I bought. That may have made the difference between being happy and not. When they say placement of the antenna is important, it is CRITICAL. This antenna was the same as one that come with portable, it worked better than a 40 dollar amplified antenna, but the difference in one inch of placement is no signals vs. many. I must have put it in 1000 different positions before finding a good one, and it likes being secured to metal with its magnetic base. I suggest experiementingwith placement with a real tv and seeing where you get the best signals, before doing the scan with this USB device. That could save you from being dissap

Probably short-sighted on my part, but.... I bought this for use with home cable TV (Time-Warner Cable). I figured that since all my TV's plug directly to the incoming cable (as they are all "cable ready") it should work- not so. Unfortunately, my cable is an analog signal and this product does not support an analog cable signal. It works for over the air HD TV, but that's all that works for me.

NOTICE - Fyi - Before any purchase of Digital Transmission TV signal (TV) - If you have not actually tried it in your area, CHECK FIRST. In the middle of Los Angeles, there are only a couple channels that reach my home. The new Digital Broadcast system depend on where you live, and being in a major city does not mean you will be able to get much. LA - 4 channels and no ABC (from my home in the middle of the Southern California Basin)

Been using it for 2 months and works well with win 7. I get around 40 channels with most of the main channels like ABC, NBC, CBS. The remote also works but is slightly hard to press. It works and very good for the price. Recommended!

The included antenna is too weak to be used for serious home use. The USB tuner worked great for both QAM (unencrypted cable) and ATSC (antenna), it picked up the same channels with the same quality of reception as my Series 3 TiVo DVR. The included software and drivers worked fine in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The included DVR software is crude, but worked without problems. The tuner worked just fine in Windows Media Center, so I have been using that. The included remote didn't work at all, period. If I could rate the tuner alone, I'd give it 4/5, and the remote and antenna get 1/5 and 2/5 respectively. So I'll end with total grade of 3/5.

Mygica AB570B worked perfectly out of the box. I had it up and working in about 15 minutes. It picked up 54 channels with the tiny little antennae that it came with. I expect to upgrade the antennae to something better and hopefully be able to pickup more channel. Excellent product and great pricing...

Now supports Windows 7 64-bit, and when it works, it's fine, but Arcsoft software is very glitchy, sometimes locks up, sometimes totally quits all together and shuts down and then sometimes even totally locks up whole system and a hard shutdown/reboot is required. I used Revo Uninstaller to totally remove all remnants of this product from my laptop. I should ask for my money back, but it is not worth the hassle. Thank goodness it was only $25.00

No NTSC, so it can't be used with basic (analog) cable. Most digital channels are locked, so it only picks up local digital cable channels. Couldn't correctly map the digital channels to the guide. ATSC picks up local digital channels OTA channels, but only with a better antenna. About the only use for this tuner is if you're getting an OTA signal. For everything else, stay away.

hooked it up to my Pentium dual, 3gb, Windows 7 home premium laptop. Works great, I live next to some mountains that usually make over the air reception impossible, but was able to pull in 8 channels even with the flimsy included antenna. Worked pretty well via cable, pulling in some HD channels that looked great. However the scan for cable took forever, almost an hour. Also hooked it up to my Acer netbook, using a USB drive with the CD data on it. Also worked great

The TV tuner stick runs really well, along with the software that was included. However the antenna is garbage. . . it picked up 8 stations with a max signal of about 1/2 strength no matter where I placed it. I used my own antenna, and it picked up 66 channels OTA with most of them at full strength. The remote is also cumbersome, working sometimes while not working most of the time. The tuner also has a tendency to run hot for some reason, so be aware of that. For the price though, it's a good way to get OTA on your computer. Just don't expect much from it if you take it and its antenna out with you.

Gotta say, this little thing surprised me. I'm using it in my Windows 8 media center box and it's been extremely reliable. PQ is great and it's actually performing better than my HDHomeRun box! It changes channels quicker and seems to have a more sensitive tuner. Only thing that concerns me is how hot the tuner and demod chips run. I mean, most ATSC tuners run hot, but they usually have a nice big PCB to dump heat into. The PCB in this thing is so small there's no real place for heat to go. So I wonder how long it'll last... I may slap some tiny heatsinks on the two chips just to be on the safe side.

On an XP or Vista machine, put the CD in the drive and it will load the software [be patient] . Wait till finished then insert the TV stick. On Win 7 and 8: 1. DO NOT PLUG IN THE STICK YET. 2. The proper drivers MUST be installed as the first step. 3. If your CD is marked A680B(W7) the Win7 32-bit and 64-bit drivers are on the CD in the Driver folder. Or download them. Identify system type by going into All Programs/Accessories/System tools/System Information or run DXDIAG and look for X64 (64-bit) or X86 (32-bit). Install the appropriate driver. 4. You can use either the Total Media S/W on the disk or Windows Media Center (standard on W7, optional on W8). If using the TotalMedia S/W then install it from Setup inside the TotalMedia folder on the CD. 5. Open the TV IR folder on the CD and run its Setup file. Leave CD in drive. 6. Insert the TV stick. 7. Remove paper barrier sticking out of remote. The remote must be pointed toward the red power LED for the remote to work.

The first one i got had a defective remote did not work at all. The antenna is horrible unable to get any signal even outside so i bought one from Walmart for 20.00 but went to Meritline.com warehouse and had it exchanged for a new one and now the remote works and i get 72 channels using win 7 media center picture quality is awesome very very clear. i'm planning to buy another one for my net-book and buy another antenna from Walmart. I give it 4 stars for 2 reasons shipping package was just in an envelope and the defective remove.. it actually deserves a 5 star.. This i can recommend just because i love to buy things and try them out..

This item works beautifully in Windows 8 Media Center for off-the-air TV channels. I had a bit of trouble getting the drivers installed, but I had previously installed another tuner from a different computer and when I installed the A680B tuner, I failed to uninstall the drivers from the previous tuner as Meritline recommends. When the other tuner was uninstalled and the drivers deleted, this tuner installed without a hitch. I am as pleased with this one as the other Mygica tuner I've had for a few years.

The tuner works well, and it's worth buying just for that. I'm using mine with Media Center on Windows 7. The downside for me is that the drivers seem to only support having one attached to your system, so I can't record on multiple channels at once. I gave up early on using the remote or included antenna.

Very process intrinsic on the CPU & hence response time with the IR remote will vary. It will be nice if there is Linux Support for this. The IR Remote I got is different than the one shown here and the antenna is of low range. Sadly the Digital Shift has compromised delivery due to signal strength. Analog Signal although snowy was watchable in times of urgency.

The HDTV stick works well. However there is no driver in Windows Update, you have to do it manually. Also the included accessories (antenna + remote) are basically junk, they only offer the lowest possible functionality. Don't worry about the negatives. Once you get the setup done, and have a good antenna, it works very well.

I haven't tried out the DVR functions, my only use for it will be to watch live sports broadcasts while im at work in HD. The quality is pretty spectacular if you are in an area with good reception. Fortunately, I work extremely close to the Empire State Building. I can't comment on the DVR software at all since I havent used it.

Worked OK for awhile. Only picked up major networks off the internet feed in Windows Media Center. The software that came with it picked up 85 more but was difficult to use. Then my cable company went to DOCSYS 3.0 and it hasn't worked since. Support didn't understand the problem so it's useless. My TV tuner on my flat screen gets about 200 channels off the internet connection even after the Docsys 3.0 conversion.

Was easy to set-up. Arcsoft software and included TV viewing software was nothing special and was a bit clunky, You could not label channels with your own labels was one feature that I missed. Biggest problem with it was the fact that on Comcast in the Pacific NW USA it only picked up local and infomercial channels, after some research it looks like Comcast makes you go through one of their HD boxes no matter what so I can not blame it on the Mygica, just something to be aware of.

I could only get 2 QAM channels using Media Center. I was ready to return the tuner, but I tried installing the Total Media software that came with the tuner as a last resort. Total Media tuned in all the QAM channels, so now I am happy.

The interface for the software is not very well refined. I am able to do most of the stuff I would expect from the software, however I have had the video lock up when trying to fast forward or rewind live TV. Especially if I have more than just a few minutes buffered. All in all for the cost, it works great to record and works great to watch live, can't complain for what I paid.

Not all of them have a strong enough signal all the time, but I'm not even trying to move the antenna around. It's on my desk next to my laptop. Image is as good as others I have owned. HD is outstanding, but makes my 2.56GHz core 2 duo work hard. Nothing can else can be running. What more can you expect?

Unfortunately this TV Tuner does not detect any of the extended TV channels I have. So I ended up only getting the local channels - ABC, NBC, CW, FOX. Even though part of it was misunderstanding on my part, the product is still below expectations. The quality I get for some of the channels is pretty good, but the antenna included is no good at all, the software freezes frequently and is rather slow, and I am having trouble getting it to work with 3rd party programs. Hulu works better, if you are just in for the TV shows.

The bundled TotalMedia software will let you create a PIP window to watch a program while you're doing something else on your computer. But it's kind of hidden. Unfortunately, TotalMedia always opens in Maximized (full-screen) mode. First, you need to click on the Restore button in the upper-right corner to get it down to a size you can adjust. Then, when you click on its misnamed Full Screen button, it will expand the picture to fill the reduced window. You can then use the borders to size it as desired. Unfortunately (again), when you press Esc to get back out of Full Window mode, it will re-size the window to some arbitrary size which may place it partially off the screen. I figured out what you have to do to get the remote to work. Although the install program includes the installation of TV IR, it's not a driver but an application. To get the remote to work, you have to run the TV IR application (Program Files\TV IR\TV IR.exe) IF YOU HAVE RESTARTED WINDOWS. As long as you have run it once since the last reboot, you do not have rerun it each time you restart Total Media. Because of this, you may want to put a TV IR shortcut on your desktop, or even put it into your Startup folder.

I found no correlation between what antennaweb.org said I should be able to receive and what I actually got using the A680B with an alternative antenna, the Artec from Meritline (201-088).

Oct '10 – I installed the A680B on a Vista 32 laptop. The shipped installer (USB2_HDTV_Stick.exe) sequentially installs drivers, Total Media, and supposedly the IR software. Total Media ran but I can't get the remote to work (battery was fine). Setup was simple but it crashed/froze a lot. (I checked for an update but 3.5.7.282 ©2005 was the latest.) Using cable (TWC-Carlsbad), it found 300+ channels. 5% were unlocked and had very good quality. Next I used the included antenna. I'm on a 750-foot-high hill in N. San Diego County. I put the antenna in a window facing LA/OC. Not one channel! I then used an Artec antenna (201-088). It found 37 channels from the same spot. About 5 had full bars (6) and great A/V. Another 5 had 2-3 bars and the picture was sporadic. The rest had no bars, no picture, no sound. Having locked in all those channels, I went back to the included antenna. Nothing again!

This this is awesome. Plugged it into my Vista 64 MCE machine and it detected it instantly. Hooked it up to my homemade Coat Hanger Antenna and found every local channel. Picture is flawless. I use it outside for watching football games via a projector and everyone raves about how good the picture looks. I highly recommend this.

Long story short don't buy this. Included antenna has never picked up a station - no matter where I am. Once hooked up to my digital antenna it picked up some stations, but not as many as my TV's do. The included software is a joke. I recorded an hour long show and it took 6.86GB of hard drive space. I am sure I could have encoded the file and significatly reduced its size, but who wants to go through that kind of effort every time they want to record a show? The software said there were two tuners and asked if I wanted to use both, but I can't figure out how that is supposed to work. If I am recording a show all the other options get greyed out. You can't pause or rewind a live show (no real suprise here). While the included remote does technically work it doesn't work well since the device is plugged into the back of my computer (it's IR so it needs line of sight). If all you want to do is watch a single live show from an antenna installed your roof this device is

here's the trick i use to obtain channels, start with bigger antenna that you normally use on ur home TV. i was able to get ~57 channels (~ same as using home TV's) once the A680 USB found and registered these channels in my computer, i then switch to the included small antenna. i am happy to report that i was about to get 80% of channels (need to move the small one around) Very happy with my ~$19 purchase. more info: 1. Location: Cerritos, CA, USA 2. OS: Windows 7, use Windows Media Center. (it walks u through getting the channels : ) 3. computer: Lenovo Thinkpad X100e, 2GB RAM. 4. antenna: next to window, but still on desk next to my notebook i set it up right before the new show "The EVENT" and recored the whole show with very high Quality using Windows Media Center. remote acts a bit strange, but the most basic functions work for me..so. last year's thanksgiving i didn't get the Free after $30 rebate @ Fry's(dif. brand) but it didn't have W7 WMC driver ready

Steer clear of this product. When it does pick up signals the quality is HD, and it records fine about 1/3 of the time. It took over 2 hours to scan through my Clear QAM channels, and right around channel 384 the program crashes. There is no way to manually add channels, so I can't get anything above 384. It also does not always turn on. There is a black screen and I have to switch to another channel and try again.

For under $20 with a coupon, it may be worth it. Installation takes forever because the channel scanner is sooooo slow in scanning 300+ channels. The first time the channel scanner ran it found no channels. The second and third time it crashed. Finally, the fourth time it completed successfully but only found about a dozen channels on my cable system. Will run it a fifth time to see if it will find more. Bottom line I wouldn't rush out to get one.

Hardware itself is ok. I was able to download the driver and make it work with Window Media Center and watching TV from Clear QAM on Windows 7. Just be aware that Chinese made driver is very poor and doesn't play well with other USB drivers such as my Western Digital external USB-based HDD and it no longer works because of TV tuner. I was forced to use firwire instead to workaround the interference. I would not recommend this product to anyone because very poor driver software.

Pros: SW interface fairly good with nice features. Harware is good for the price. I like the options of what format to save it in. I could not get the grid to work correctly for broadcast channels. Cons: No time shift, cannot watch a time shifted program while recording. This can be fixed with software or perhaps windows7. Conclusion: Perhaps you can get this to work better with 3rd party software? Hardware seems to work fine. Worth $20.

The unit arrived in great condition and the installation of updated and revised drivers from the manufacturer's website and software install went very smoothly. The unit was unable to recognize more than 3 channels with supplied antenna and when plugged into an amplified HD antenna this went to 26 channels. The Arcsoft supplied software was basically useless, as the recognized channels would not play using this bundled software. The native Media Center software in Win 7 64bit OS was also able to recognize and even play the channels. There was no joy however because the images were halting with jerky pixel dropout moments. A pain to watch and even worse if you were going to record the show for later. The unit did this when in USB 2 or tried as a last resort USB 3 ports. My machine is a very fast gaming machine with AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 Ghz CPU and 8 Gigs of RAM and Nvidia 9800 Video Card w 1 Gig of Video Ram so this unit's performance was quite disappointing to say t

I am using this on home built, Asus P5K-VM, 8GB Ram, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. You may hit one website where this is documented and where you can download the latest drivers, meritline...Here are some helpful hints and what I was able to get to work and what you may not want to try because it doesn't work. The only reason I am giving this one less star is because I had to compile information from everywhere and the remote is useless i.e. they should just send this product without remote, it doesn't work, DOA, bad design, well known problem. Of course don't expect tech support, well written manuals. If I am rating this as a novice user, I would give it 3 stars. Connected the tuner to my usb port, driver failed to install. As suggested, do not use the enclosed DVD for anything except the Remote IR driver. If you can't find it, wait till you install the new Win7 driver from meritline. Do not use the driver from the DVD else it will default to antenna, no cable, and therefore no Q

Use this on a decent power laptop or desktop with plenty of memory. Use Windows media Center standard on win7 to use this device. Win Media center is an excellent product for tv control and recording. Antenna with unit stinks. I had a different portable antenna I used.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. - Installed all software and drivers per instructions. - Connected device and it was installed successfully. - Rebooted. - Started the ArcSoft Total Media and scanned for channels. Found about 37. Everything work fine ... EXCEPT ... The remote control driver. In the Task Manager-Processes, the "TV IR.exe" was eating my memory. It went from 10mb to 1gb in about 1 minute and kept climbing. I'll try this newly posted driver update to see if it resolves it. Otherwise it works great.

Well let me start off that this order was a complete fail. Im not sure if I misread the product description but it didnt work with my cable service. Our cable only has some of its channels digital. I do understand that digital is different than analog signal but still dispointed nonetheless

I think it performs within what was promised, but I was disappointed. My roommate has a TV with a clear QAM tuner which pulls down 150 channels using the same coax connection I use. I cannot get them through the A680B, which only shows them as locked. Whatever is blocking the reception makes it inadequate to my purposes. If I had known that, I would not have purchased it.

This thing looked great, had great reviews, but I installed it using the provided drivers on the website and I can't get any signals. Yes, the provided antennae was junk, so I opted for a little more hefty one. I have no problem receiving over the air signal on my TV, but neither windows media center or the Arcsoft Total Media could get any channels and I tried SEVERAL times! Don't waste your money, get something that's by a known manufacturer. I even went to the mfr website to download drivers, and NONE of them available to download!

Works very well. Included antenna is useless unless you are within a few miles of transmission. Remote is "ok" at best. Is not compatable with my desktop's existing ATI digital dual tuner. Worked on laptop with WIN XP MCE (1.8GHz, 1 MB RAM) where Hauppauge TV HD stick would not.

Tuner and software performs as expected, but the antenna is weak. I recognize the convenience of an omnidirectional antenna, but its short height and polarization attenuates signals, rather then adds gain. Unless you are close to transmitters and/or unobstructed, you will have to replaced it in order to receive all local signals.

Works well with Windows 7. Pulls a good signal from distant locations. Full 1080i recording can be taxing on an Atom processor.

Works well, if you have a newer PC. On my older PC running Win 7 I installed drivers from both CD and website and had to plug it in and unplug it a few times, reboot some, and try diff USB ports before it finally correctly loaded drivers. On the new Win7 64bit laptop I installed drivers from the CD and it worked when inserted the first time, and WMC found it and it tuned in all the local stations I expected. Verify your antenna strength with a TV first before connecting to this stick; don't blame the stick if you don't have good reception, get a rooftop antenna instead.

i use it on my Acer Aspire One netbook and the picture is beautiful on screen and I really like the ArcSoft Total media software that controls the TV tuner. The position of the antenna is necessary for good reception depending on where you are so I may look for a stronger antenna for it eventually, but very happy overall. Thanks

This product is great! Fast shipping and it was home and plugged in before I knew it!It picked up 11 channels straight away but I followed other reviews and bought an amplified indoor antenna and I got 24 more channels.Wow!Best is to plug into outdoor antenna or tv cable. Some of channels were repeats but I was still very happy.I got all major channels that I am looking for.Just make sure to move the antenna to a higher location near the window for best signal. The remote and antennae isn't that great but for the price it's still a great deal.Buy this with a stronger antennae and you are set!!!Great picture quality and easy to use interface.

I received this item in 2 days! I like the TV tuner, but the antenna didn't do anything for me. It's a flimsy stick that didn't pick up anything. So I connected the roof antenna to the TV tuner and it works perfectly. It's like a cheap TIVO, and the HD channels are beautiful. Now I see how I'm supposed to really view my shows. And what I love is that I can record TV shows that I otherwise would miss. I use windows mediaplayer to watch TV with this device, instead of the included software. They both work fine, but I just prefer the interface of the windows mediaplayer. I only pick up channels that I normally receive on the TV, but I don't have cable anyway so it's not like I expected to. It's a neat little device, and I mainly purchased it for the recording function. I use it with my Windows 7 32bit computer. The remote works fine as well, but I just don't really use it.

I have a dual-core processor, 2gb ram and XP. The Magica turner works fine with the analog final but had problems with QAM signals from my cable company. It may work fine after I have just scanned and searched channels, but next time I turn on the computer it cannot stably receive the same channel signals. I am disappointed as my main purpose to buy it is to pick up the HD QAM signal.

I was expecting to be disappointed by some cheap crap, but this may be, for the money, the best thing I have ever bought. I just plain works. The antenna is crap, but get over it, when has anything TV related ever come with a decent antenna? This thing is built well, the drivers work, the software works... I was shocked. Most computer hardware never works right, costs too much, etc. Freakin' awesome. If I had a reason to buy more, I would.

The software was easy to install. However the antenna was not that sensitive. It only picked up 2 out of 4 major public TV stations in my area. Time setting for TV program recording was easy to schedule. The editing program was not that user friendly though. Overall this is a low cost HD TV tuner for computer with a reasonable value.

I have mixed feelings about this product. I installed it on an Acer Aspire Net Book, 2 gig ram, running Windows 7. When working, the picture quality was great. While using the included antenna the channel selection was limited to about 3 1/2. When connected to an outdoor antenna I was able to receive upwards of 10. I live in the sticks and was pleased it did as well as my set top box. On the down side. The remote did not always want to work 'properly' and if I left the software running quietly in the sys tray, it seemed to bog down other applications that were running. When I shut down the program, and rebooted, the computer sped up to normal speed. I have everything set to manual start and am having no problems. Over all it a cool little gizmo that will let you watch TV darn near everywhere.

I've installed the software just fine on a Windows XP machine, and a Windows 7 machine. The recording quality is excellent, but packaged software is buggy on both machines. Using the internet EPG (Programing Guide), most shows cannot be recorded as it says the given channel is not on the list even though they are. Using the DTV EPG, you only get an hour or two advanced programming which isn't very helpful. Can't change settings for converting existing videos, but I wasn't expecting that ability anyway. If the web page that serves as the Internet EPG can be fixed, this will be a great product. I tried other "free" alternative programs, the TV Tuner worked but the software didn't.

As an experienced user running Windows XP, this product is a great disappointment. The unit required many hours to setup and, even then, would only run as an analog tuner. The unit would not setup for QAM digital broadcasts. As for the product, the quality is poor (i.e. runs hot with a very snowy picture), has defective drivers, and non-existent tech support from MyGica. My repeated e-mails to MyGica went unanswered. The old maxim of "You get what you pay for" is certainly applicable here.
