Oh what ignorant people there are out there. People, this is not a real helicopter. The rear rotor only turns when you command forward or rearward flight (by pitching the craft forward or backwards. The torque is countered by the counter-rotating main blades so no (sideways) tail-rotor is required. Since there is no swashplate on the main rotor blades and they are not reticulated, that's why the rear prop is necessary. This all keeps the cost to a fraction of what a real helicopter would cost. There are not nearly as many moving parts, no servos, only electrically controlled motors. It doesn’t control the same way as a real helicopter (more like a cross between an airplane and a helicopter) but it’s still plenty fun to fly. Know what you are buying before you stupidly return it for working exactly as it’s supposed to. By the way, this is also not IR controlled but RF.

ts, there is nothing wrong with your helicopter; the rear rotor only turns during forward and reverse flight. Turns left and right are produced with the main rotors. You can verify this by adjusting the power to still be on the ground then push forward or reverse on the right controler.

This things awsome flies great right out of the box. I crashed it a alot before having to buy replacement parts. Replacement parts are cheap and easy to find. This is a great heli to lean on before spending big bucks on a high tech one. You will be impreased with the size and power of this thing. Its lots of fun take it slow master the controls and have fun.

I have now owned three Double Horse helicopters from Meritline. One of the reviewers is wrong, there are trims on this helicopter but they don't compensate for the drift. Be sure to have the heli flat when you turn it on so the gyros set up right. Having said that, I do agree that my Double Horses don't sound or respond anything like the videos on Meritline. Those heli spin up strong, the heading lock is solid, and respond rapidly to cyclic inputs. All three of mine are weak, poorly balanced, slip in power rotor, and are not controlled by TX unit. Where can I buy those Heli's on the videos at Meritline? I want one of those!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't maneuver this helicopter. Impressive to look at, easy enough to understand. The vehicle doesn't respond to the controls. New batteries, fully charged, and it won't respond. Try this is a very, very large grass field because it will fly off on it's own.

First 9053 RMA'd (thanks Meritline!) after speed controller died after 3 minutes. Since then, I've had 50 hours flying heli's... so I'm no longer a beginner on heli's. This unit was perfect, powered up, spun (trim couldn't be set) due to slipping main rotor. Lift was poor. Small tail rotor is TOO SMALL to provide FORWARD/REVERSE thrust. Was completely unable to maneuver nose over/tail back. Just lift, spin, and rudder... no front/back. "REMOTE CONTROL" is therefore "REMOTE" since there is NO "CONTROL". YouTube videos on "Volitation Heli" showed expensive mods to get to fly. Why spend SO MUCH time making such a TECHNOLOGY RICH craft and then forget the basics? Who cares if it has a Gyro if you can't fly it.

Arrived with the rear blade rotor non-functional. It would not spin, therefore the helicopter would not fly. As well, the instruction said it needed "180 minutes" of charging. Yet about 10 minutes after I plugged it in, the green "charged" light lit indicating it was charged. However, we powered it up and the blades barely turned, so seemingly the charger is bad as well. Charged it up all night, and the next day the rotors turned fine, except the rear still would not turn. Very disappointed.

Good Heli for the Money and as entry level RC Chopper,...once NEW upgraded blades where installed,...This thing has held up aftep dropping like a brick after about a 1 second signal loss,...and several times after turning a little hard,..has held up well,...canopy broken but patched up for now till I order new one,...even though the New Blades have only 1/2 gram more material in them,..they have been through FAR more abuse then the original blades coul;d ever take,...Pretty tough Heli!!

Ive been flying gas and electric helis for a while now, I know how they work. When the unit is hovering or when I spool up the main rotors while holding the skids in my hand the tail rotor wont work 90 % of the time when commanded to an elevator function moving the right stick up and down. I know the tail prop only turns when the mains are turning. Thanks, still waiting for an rma response
