Description

Optical Quantum™ has developed a line of WATER-RESISTANT inkjet printable CD and DVD media. Branded as Optical Quantum™ Best Print WATER-RESISTANT media using Liquid-Defense™ ("OQBP"), it's certain to revolutionize the printable media market. The OQBP WATER-RESISTANT media is a new innovation using nanoparticle technology. It secures the printed matter to the disc preventing moisture from separating the ink which causes smearing and bleeding.

Previously, traditional inkjet printing was considered inferior to the more expensive thermal printing because the inkjet printed image could smear or bleed if it were to come into contact with moisture. OQBP WATER-RESISTANT media changes all that. The media has a hub printable surface offering vibrant photo quality up to 4800dpi. The discs dry almost instantly and are highly resistant to smearing and color bleed when exposed to water and humidity. In addition to the brilliant WATER-RESISTANT printing surface, the OQBP media is developed with the highest standards for optimal duplication reliability and playback capability.

OQBP WATER-RESISTANT media is available with a white or silver printable surface offering superior color and quality. Yet it is priced at a fraction of the price for alternative water resistant media. This allows the everyday user the ability to afford and utilize inkjet printing without the fear of the image smearing or bleeding on the disc due to inadvertent exposure to water.

Disc Quality Report
The main criteria that are used to determine the quality of CD media are the 'Parity Inner Errors' (PIE) and Parity Inner Failures (PIF). Programs such as Nero identify the total count of (PIE) and (PIF) reported by the DVD drives as errors while it reads the imperfections distributed across the disc surface. Even though this method is not the only criteria available, it is a very useful indicator for the quality of the CD media, since there is a strong correlation between Disc Quality and the total error count.

    The printed side looks fair, they dry fast, are reasonably water proof, and have a flat finish which is not a bad thing, but the finish de-saturates the colors (some colors maybe more than others like the color blue drops a few shades). I have tried both these and the Taiyo Yuden Water Shield (now called JVC) with the same image and found that I needed to increase the color saturation in PhotoShop by 30% to get my images to appear the same. They are rated at 16X but I often get a maximum burn speed around 18+. The recording side is less than perfect, many of the DVDs often have small imperfections that line the other edge of the disk, sort of like very small specs of dust. I did a “burn with verify” on many of my first burns and they all read back fine so the imperfections are just a visually defect. I have probably tried over a dozen different brands and nothing has looked like these on the recording side, they look like some one’s seconds (but they burn fine). If they had fre

    I am very pleased with the performance of these discs as well as the finished printed image. Colors look great and feels soft without residue. Really worth the extra money and without the hassel of labels.

    As far as the recorded part goes they burn fine. I was not impressed with the printing. Printing was dull and did not dry completely.

    Print surface not as nice as the Taiyo Yuden. Has more of a flat dull finish compared to a glossy professional print on the Taiyo Yuden. Use the optical quantum for everday print but the Taiyo Yuden for quality professional jobs. price is about .18 less per disc if you take into acct the free shipping on the Taiyo Yuden

    Burned approx 600 of these discs for an onsite duplication project. Very good results w/ no coasters. Print quality is very good. Water resistance is pretty good after the ink has dried for 24 hours or so. Over all: very good disc at a good price.
