Works well and great value. I checked an infared hearter to see what it is drawing in energy and was amazed that it was doing fine and the company advertized correctly.

Good price on a very effective tool for determining where your electricity dollar is going. For example I always thought my 20-year-old basement dehumidifier was a huge power hog, but when I ran its power through the kill-a-watt I saw it was only drawing about 300 watts max (equivalent to a halogen lamp). So now I don't worry nearly as much about how often the dehumidifer runs. The kill-a-watt will also show power factor (a measure of efficiency) - I found that our Dell servers at work had lousy power supplies that were only ~65% pf. It will also accumulate KWh over time, so for something that runs intermittently like a fridge you can leave it in for a week to get a good cumulative KWh consumption number.

I'd give this Five stars if it had a capacitor to allow the unit to be disconnected without losing all the data. Now you need to get into some strange positions to jot down the readings. On the other hand it seems to do just what it is advertised to do. I learned a good deal of information which allow me to have a better understanding of an items electrical use. I even saw the value in adjusting the refrideratior!!

This tool is very good. I can now know what appliances use what amount of electricity. I know that, for example, my dishwasher with drying cycle uses just 8 cents per wash cycle. However, no way to check the biggest electricity users, i.e. clothes dryer and range.

This is a nifty little device. I recommend it. The Hz measurement is slightly low on mine (but within specs). I agree it would be handy if you could preserve the reading when unplugged but here's a tip: Connect the meter to the wall outlet using a short extension cord - that way you can move the device to a more convenient place and orientation.

Works great. So far everything I tested with it worked. To confirm accuracy I tried 5W and 1W night lights and it read accurately. Tried it on many devices and was very surprised with the unexpected outcome. For example, I didn't know that laptop power supplies stop drawing power once the laptop is charged! Very useful device.

Excellent value. Device worked as advertised. I used it to measure the consumption of all devices I have and it even measured a small nightlight accurately! Meritline had the best price on this device.

Great product and good price. It has helped me understand where my power is going and the wattage consumed by various appliances. Of interest, the freezer at -20F, is only costing about $4.00/mo. I thought it would be significantly more.

A handy device for finding which appliances are gobbling up your electric bill, and meritline's price was the best I had ever seen. I'm VERY happy with the purchase.

It comes in handy to find out how much power all those small, left-on items are taking.

This meter is quite accurate for its cost. There is no internal battery, hence data would be lost during power outage. Meter is good value and quality.

I've only used it a couple of times to measure wattage but it is working fine so far. At it was at a decent price.

I tested my old refrigerator first I was using to cool sodas and found out I was spending $30/month to cool sodas. Unplugged the refrigerator for disposal immediately. Great tool!
