An excellent product! Highly recommended. The 8 led light is very bright. With Auto and Day / Night mode settings, it will light up when approaching approximate 2.5 ~ 3 meters. I originally set it up for Day / Auto. It lights up during the day and night when approaching. Changed to Night, it will not light up during the day - like the auto night light. But with sensor, it will ONLY turn on when someone approaching. I have two fly of stairs perpendicular (90 degree) to each other. Place one each on top of the stairs and it lights nicely in the night. The construction is quite good. It's very light without the batteries. Without the batteries installed, it becomes heavy. The only drawback is the shape. The design seems to be used on a flat surface. But for most people, I suspect they will place them vertically. Since the top perimeter is smaller than the bottom, when placing on the side vertically, it tends to tilt. You would need to have it lean on something else in a a

Both units worked fine and they are fairly bright. The motions sensors work well at more than 3m and the setting for only working in the dark works as well. The doc says that it only pulls 70ua in standby. I'll have to see how long the batteries last. One warning: the description claims that it takes AAA batteries and it really takes AA. No big deal. It works well & I recommend it.

These lights are excellent. They are bright and they work as promised. It is a plus that they use AA batteries that have much more power than the smaller AAA used in other comparable lights. The lights work great with NiMH rechargables. There are only 2 minor negatives I have seen so far. The sides are sloped so the unit will not free stand on a shelf or table top, but it must be mounted to the wall. The batteries are a very tight fit and they are difficult to remove. I use a small screwdriver to pry them out. I bought several of these to give as stocking stuffer gifts at Christmas.

for a few bucks I grabbed one on sale. i will buy more next time the sale comes around. one will give enough light for a man to see what he is doing in a dark bathroom at night. i have not went thru 2 AA's yet but one would think they would last a long time. i am very very happy with this slick deal. shipping was fast too. around a week turnaround. this is not my first meritline purchase but by far my best one from them yet.

I like the product, but it doesn't seem to turn off on its own even when set on Auto. More tinkering, perhaps. Also, the claim 80,000 hour LED life is completely ludicrous. If on for 24 hours a day, that's over 9 years! Get real! It certainly does not have the build quality to even come close to that claim. We'll see...

I have bought ten of these. I keep finding new places to use them. They are very bright and light up stairways. If there is a power outage, these are bright enough to light up a whole room to move around without using a flashlight. I stuck one on the fridge so when I get a glass of water in the middle of the night, I don't have to turn on the room light and hurt my eyes. I have one stuck halfway up the stairs for the same reason. The cats have learned to sit in front of the light when they want some illumination.

It says "super white", but the light cast is bluish. Still, better than pitch black. The lights detect motion, turn on when we approach within 4 meters. We are using rechargeable Nicad batteries in them. The batteries are easy to access after mounting the light. They are not brilliant, their light is subtle. Brighter than a nightlight or a candle, but you would not want to read by them. They turn off after 90 seconds with no motion.
