I bought additional 11 of these lanterns and donated to the Buddhist Monastics who currently live in the remote area of Sonoma Coast where there is no electricity. They use these lanterns every night and they work very very well for them. They said that these lanterns are brighter than other solar lanterns.

The solar panels charge the lantern really fast,the light is bright,is really helpful during power outages and other emergencies.The shipping is also fast,I will buy another one.

When this item arrived the carrier had smashed it to point where the top cracked and there were some plastic pieces floating around while the wires were still connected. In a way, I'm impressed that the lamp stayed together as much as it did given the box was crunched. When I tried to turn the unit on, the light would stay on only if you held the button down. There was no other light mode other than high. When I sent a picture to Meritline, they could not see the damage and suggested that I reassemble the unit to get it working. I had to direct their eyes to the damaged parts in the picture and remind them the that light switch didn't work. After a few back and fourths, they agreed to allow me to return the product. This is the first time I had to spend so much time convincing them the unit was faulty. Anyway, when the light was on, I was not impressed by the brightness. For the 16 bucks I paid, you can get much cheaper lanterns at Meritline and other stores with that perform

This is a wonderful product. I ordered it a mth ago and daily I am using this as in-house night light. LEDs are really powerful and lumens they are giving are enough to shine the whole room.

Two panels give it a good charge. Smaller than expected, gives out a usable amount of light. Greatr for camping or emergency light. Great for use in total darkness. Light weight plastic construction, do not drop it on concrete! Down side no Sun no chargeing no light. Would buy again for camping or emergencies.

Good concept. But the switch doesn't work well. I have to press several times for it to work. Also it seem to charge only in direct sunlight. A better purchase may be to get a good desk lamp and recharageable batteries. On the plus side it comes with NiCd batteries. So you can charge them and use as well.
