Came with practically no instruction. Worse than poor! Could not get the audio (in/out) it claims. Seems to be just a piece of JUNK. Wonder whether others had similar experience. Cheema Thridandam c3dandam@yahoo.com August 28, 2009

This device is not worth even the $3. It was easy plug and play but after a few seconds of sound it would make a pop sound and I would get a message that the power it is attempting to draw is too much and it has been shut off. I replaced it with a reputable model and that one gives not issues at all. I WOULD NOT buy.

It works but PC will automatic disable a original phone and mic jacks, so it only work either one

It was a waste of money! I tested the adapter with different mics and headphones that I knew worked and it failed each time. I had never used MeritLine before and won't use them again.

This sound card did nothing to eliminate the static that was heard when I plug my laptop it into an amplifier. I ended up having to buy one with an HDMI output to get the desired clean sound.

The adapter never worked properly. When I plugged it in there was buzz sound coming from the speakers. I tried it on two different computers but same results. It was waste of few $$$.

Dont order this item! Meritline will ship you "V5.1 USB 3D Sound Card Audio Adapter" instead, which has poor ratings.

Both items worked just the way I needed, the price was the lowest I could find, and the service very good.

I have ordered many items from Meritline over the past few months, and I have generally been very pleased. However, this item has been very disappointing. I have ordered 2 of these, and both of them have burned out within minutes of being plugged into the USB port. They simply do not work, and I would very much like a credit of some sort!!! :-(

terribly clever device. i was about to write and say that it didn't work, but i discovered that i must disable my on-board sound driver before this device will work. it is, indeed, truly plug & play. the sound is a little bass-heavy, but i'm sure i could tweak that. i bought this considering the possibility that my on-board jack goes belly-up.

Good cheap alternative to get sound working on your PC, especially older PCs that are no longer supported by the manufacturer where audio drivers are not available. Sound worked right after plugging in this device, but I can't get the mic input jack to work. No links to drivers, and since this is a generic device, a www search for "3D Sound USB Driver" does not help. Still working on a solution to get the input to work, but for $3 shipped, it's a good deal for sound output.

did not work on vista, & worked on 1 of 2 XP systems. great idea, but it needs to work on more than just one out of three PCs

I see all these reviews saying the speaker jack doesn't work. IT'S NOT A SPEAKER JACK. It's the microphone jack. Use the headphone jack for the speaker. Duh. I ordered these a few years ago and they're cheap but they worked for me.

Bought 12 cards for a project and after configuring my pc to recognise them and using the right jacks (stereo) all 12 worked perfectly well - a 100 percent score. Tested them and found their sound very acceptable. Remember the cards have a microphone input. A microphone has a low output level. If fed with a higher level signal (f.i. line-out or even headphone or speaker out) they will naturally distort or even be destroyed. This should not be blamed on the cards.

Works much better than I would have ever guessed. Am using to bypass my laptop's horribly noisy mike input for Dragon NS 10.

Wonderful!!!! Our young son would yank the headphone cord out of the plug in on the computer. In doing this, he broke the headphone plug on the computer. I would NEVER have thought of a fantastic item like this one!! We no longer have to listen to what my son is listening to on the computer! I can't say enough just how wonderful this little adapter is!! Going to buy another one for back up! Way worth the money!

This was a 50/50 gamble. I think they sell them in packs of 2 because maybe 1 will work. So, 1 is working GREAT, the other just passes static along through the mic jack.

Adapter worked with both pairs of headphones I own. Unfortunately, when headphones are plugged into the adapter, sound can only be heard on the right side.

I assumed that this was a plu-and-play device. I plugged it into 3 USB ports on my PC, and tried both headphones and speakers, however none demostrated any output. If it is a driver porblem, I don't know, but from where I was, it looked like it didn't work.

The good part is that it does work well enough to be used on my MediaSmart Server, but the bad parts are numerous. First, the sound is awful, muddy and lacking treble. It's supposed to be 3D, but since there's not hardware, it isn't. Lastly, and most strangely is that you have to wear your headphones backwards because the left and right channels are reversed. If you slide the balance to the right, the right will lose volume.

I have a strange problem on my desktop PC with a SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium sound card and TeamSpeak3; the mic goes to hell. But with every other program the mic there works just fine. I bought this as a cheap way to test a few things and it works perfectly. No drivers needed, XP took care of that for me. I had to fiddle with the Sound and Audio control panel to get the game sounds to come out of the SB card while just this thing was set as the recording device. So other than that no problems so far.

This worked in my Asus netbook where the more expensive one (with the volume control) generated a distracting hum. Plug and play - easy to use. Sound quality is fine and much louder than the limited volume, on-board audio, which is a big problem with some netbooks. I think that on some computers you need to disable the native sound board for this to work - might be what's causing some of the complaints here. This is a great deal.

Absolute junk. Attempts to draws too much power from USB port. PC failsafe kicks in and shuts off power to device rendering it totally useless. Don't waste your money!

Headphone part works well. Have not test the mic part yet. The donw side is that the adapter do not have the valume control on it. The valume can be controled by the player.

One of the worst thing ever. When I plugged it in the computer and used my speakers, the sound was VERY crackly and static like. I messed with the wire but as soon as I let go of the wire plugged into the adapter, it would sound horrible. I just threw it away. Considering I didn't spend whole lot of money on it but I expected it to work as advertised. Be VERY cautious.

this worked ok for XP, but it didn't work in vista. note: half of my existing hardware doesn't work on vista, so the rating is because there was no compatibility statement. now I just have a sound card that I can't use and isn't worth returning.
