I bought this and after waiting a long time it finally arrived but was missing the SATA cable to connect a SATA drive. Contacted customer service and after two attempts finally got the answer that it doesn't come with a SATA cable. I tried another cable and it doesn't fit into the SATA slot. It works great with IDE drives. I had to buy another one from another vendor and got it in 3 days and it comes with rubber covers for 2.5 & 3.5" hard drives, but doesn't have the neat little lights. The price was the same.

This device is designed for eSATA connetion, and eSATA has different connector than SATA.

I was a bit dubious about the usefulness of this product at the outset. All my reservations have been wiped away now that I have recovered data from 8 separate IDE drives. Even the dead drives were coaxed into giving it up with the help of some data recovery software. Mostly, it is plug and play even on XP x64. I was hesitant that my OS wouldn't be supported, but it worked a treat!

It looked great initially, then I found the cable missing, it did not come with eSATA cable, so I had to buy that. Now XP did not recognise 500GB hdd I put on this??? It is now another junk! Sorry it isn't that great as sound, I couldn't make it work.

Apparently didn't come with a power adapter for the main unit. Just a transformer that seems to power the HDD. Either way, my box only included 5 of 6 listed components so I'm missing something.

Works as stated. Good for checking bad drives to recover material if possible. Also good as a backup drive with old hard drive. External use is great. No covers or bios to reset.

Mine was a piece of junk. Several of the pins in the SATA slot were broken off right out of the box & the SATA cable didn't even fit the slot anyway.
