Cool toy - a bit large, but that was expected.

Pro's: Great toy, looks just awesome. Nobody knows its a flash drive! Shipping was fast too. Con's: Not the fastest memory stick but who cares? It's the coolest in the world. Other: Meritline is a great company. They ship as quick as possible and always have great deals on weird stuff.

I reformatted the drive on mac to Fat-32 as soon as I got it, and now no windows machine can recognize it. It still works fine with my mac and with the xbox 360, but windows cannot reformat it or anything. It also is too fat to fit my laptop usb since I only have one usb available, I have to unplug to make room for it.

For the price and storage capacity, you'd expect this USB drive to be somewhat cheap, finnicky, and probably not look that great as a robot panther. You'd be wrong. My only complaints are that the usb connector seems too bare - there is no metal sleeve surrounding it. You have to hold your thumb on it when inserting it because it'll retract and you won't get a connection. And the drive itself is a bit big, making it difficult to fit certain USB ports, especially if your hub is crowded. However, once you know these things, they are easily overcome, and then you get to brag about your Tformer USB drive.

The Transfomer aspect of it is pretty great. It looks really cool and serves well as a USB drive that you just keep around for file transfer or whatnot. However, it's pretty large and not especially pocketable as a result (though I expected this coming in) and the retractable USB plug is a bit loose and flimsy. It's not really a great USB drive, just an extremely cool looking one.

This drive arrived on 4/5/2010 shipped from Hong Kong, China. After receiving it I started to run H2testw_v1.4 to make sure the drive is as advertised. After running 3 tests (about 40mins per cycle) this drive turns out to be a 4gb stick instead of a 8gb stick. Is this happening to anyone else? I'm posting result 1 of 3 cycle to reduce spam so you get the idea. The media is likely to be defective. 3.9 GByte OK (8222664 sectors) 3.8 GByte DATA LOST (8126520 sectors) Details:3.8 GByte overwritten (8126520 sectors) 0 KByte slightly changed (< 8 bit/sector, 0 sectors) 0 KByte corrupted (0 sectors) 1 MByte aliased memory (2048 sectors) First error at offset: 0x00000000f8df0000 Expected: 0x00000000f8df0000 Found: 0x00000001f0ef0000 H2testw version 1.3 Writing speed: 2.36 MByte/s Reading speed: 14.6 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 Called Meritline and I'm suppose to get a call back from the RMA.
