    There is a terminal on the power supply that was intentionally omitted but should have no impact to it's intended function. The Red is +5v, Yellow is +12v and the two middle terminals (one missing)in Black is the Ground. If you look carefully at your IDE drive you will see that the two middle terminals are connected together. The adapter will not work immediately. It will take about a minute before your PC will recognize the USB Mass storage device. For connection: 1. connect the adapter to the drive (Sata use cable supplied). 2. connect the power suppy to the drive. 3. connect the usb to your computer. Wait about a minute for the PC to load and recognize the Hardware. If it fails try it again after rebooting the PC.

    Worked great on a SATA 2.5 inch notebook hard drive and IDE DVD-RW drive so far! I had one issue connecting the hard drive (XP formatted) to a PC running Vista, but when I did connect it to a PC running XP it got recognized right away.

    I used it on my old IDE hard drive, but it did not work. One pin of the power cable is disconnected (without terminal). I have no idea whether this is a design or on purpose. I would guess it's a defective product because all four wires are available but the terminal is missing. I don't have other device to check against it at this time. How can I return or exchange it free of shipping charge?

    Excellent product, works just like I had hoped. Price was better than I found anywhere else. Shipping was a bit slow, but wasn't really a problem: it arrived within the time allowed.

    This was the second adapter I bought, the first adapter works fine. I give this adapter a three because on the second use while formatting a new hard drive after about an hour the power supply overheated and became unusable. Meritline offered to refund my money or allow me to purchase the same item for the sale price. I trust Meritline and will order from them again, I think this was just a flawed item.

    Product as advertised — working well. Very good price/value relationship. My AVERAGE vote is based on the fact that delivery took almost one month from date order was placed. Sometimes a delay may be unavoidable, but when that happens, it would be courteous of you to notify me about that fact either in advance, (if known) or as an apology while waiting for delivery; perhaps after delivery if not otherwise possible.

    Works as advertised. However, do not use a 2" to 3.5" adapter on a 2" drive. It will fry the 2" drive. There is only one return (-) on the four pin DC power cable. The 12 VDC and the 5 VDC share the same return. For the 2" drive, just use the supplied USB (bus powered) cable.

    Could not read drives with this device. Power supply began to emmit a burning smell after little use. This item was complete junk and was returned for refund.

    It was broken. Plugged in to USB port (on 3 different computers) and told "Unrecognized Device". Meritline quickly refunded my money. Will try ordering another.
