In spite of some comments listed in the ratings, this item is virtually identical to the Nikon branded one. I know, I have both. “Nikon Enthusiast” states that these are prone to breakage: it’s a small electronic item made of plastic so of course it’s prone to break; if one is not careful. “NE” also says that the remote only works from in front of the camera: this IS true and it is also true of the Nikon version. In fact, compared side by each, the only way to tell them apart is the labeling: “Nikon” versus “For Nikon.” I flipped over both my ML-L3 and this generic one and lo and behold, they are both marked “Made in China” in the same place on the back. If these aren’t the same product, I’ll eat my D80!

Buyer beware, this is not Genuine Nikon, but a knockoff. These are prone to breakage and work only when you are directly in front of the camera.

This is a Nikon compatible remote, not a original Nikon video camera remote. I suspected as much from the price of the item. Also noted the picture sais "for Nikon" not "Nikon®". With that being said, it is still a great value considering the original one cost $20 or more.

My dealings with meritline were very good . The item I ordered came as promised. It took about two weeks but was worth waiting for as it was much cheaoer than the same item at any location in the US. I would order from them again without hesitation

I will NOT purchase this product BECAUSE it is a fake! And, Meritline is supporting crapola by incorrectly labeling the product. My thanks to those persons who have correctly called out Meritline for the fakery. . .And, thanks, again, for warning me to stay away. I have a thousand dollars invested in a Nikon camera and I guess it is worth a few dollars to buy a true "NIKON" product. . .even if the REAL Nikon remote is now being made in Thailand for a buck or two! At least Nikon is being honest. . .Where Meritline is NOT!

Meritline, you need to change the wording and picture on this ad immediately! This is not a Nikon brand remote as displayed in the picture and stated in the description. Yes, technically it does say "Non-OEM part", but c'mon this is SO misleading. Put a real picture of YOUR product and change Nikon Remote to Remote for "Nikon Cameras". I have come to expect better from you!!!

MISLEADING INFO!! on 5/31/2009

Those of you who can't read... the description says its not from Nikon. Those of you who are looking for a great deal get this item... it's cheap and it works. Only thing i would say lacking is instructions on how to use this remote. Right out of the package mashing the button doesn't work. There is a setting on your camera that sets your camera to Remote mode. Once you select that function this will be the best "cheap" purchase that you have ever made! I love it and would recommend this to anyone who has a compatible Nikon.

I am very much satisfied with this product. I have read some of the reviews which says that this remote doesn't work. I think users are not aware how to use this. This remote won't work unless and until you keep your Nikon Camera in Remote mode. Just pressing remote button without setting up your camera in remote mode will not help. This is a great remote and gives you the flexibility to capture great pictures without anyone's help. Thanks to meritline for making such products available at this price. Keep it up. Anup
