Ordered two of these, which will now become gifts and I'll reorder for myself. They worked great: compact and VERY bright, such that I can't believe the single battery will last very long. Ordered for the power & focusing ability.

Surprisingly good value. This thing chews through batteries pretty quickly, but using rechargables helps. This thing is so bright that I was able to shine it on several buildings in our downtown area. Seriously though, this thing is BRIGHT!

Great little flashlight; beats the $10 piece of crap ones at the big box stores. It's bright and has a nice on/off button. Just wish it were 1" around overall so that I can mount it.

This is simply a great flashlight. It is hard to believe the output of light with just a single AA battery. I bought 2 (five packs) for Christmas presents and everyone was highly impressed. Let me suggest that these be sold in (10 packs)to lower the price a bit. Do you have a dealers price established?

Saying it is a very powereful (one AA battery) light is an understatement. It is the most powerful light that doesn't need exotic or rechargable batteries I have found anywherre.

Excellent flashlight and very bright (3 watt) LED. I can live with short battery life; at almost 2 amps, AA battery can't last long. Mechanical construction is good. Will buy again as they make great gifts.

Very Bright-so bright that I am replacing my microscope illuminators with them. Just wire a transformer into the end.Seriously! No more expensive high wattage bulbs heating up the room. The price of this is less than a bulb! I also keep them in the car.

This is a great product; it's cheap, light, bright, compact and only uses one AA battery. The only down side to this product is the way you focus your beam. It moves forward and back too easily. Wish there was a way to lock it in the position you want it to be at all time. People with big hands might find this hard to hold and adjust the beam at the same time.

Outstanding shirt pocket light. Takes a single inexpensive battery and the brightness is very impressive. I have owned LED lights for the past 15 years or more and this little jewel is my favorite. I have ordered 10 of them so far, giving them to friends and family. Focus function works well also and it throws a beam a block long at night.

Fantastic little lights. The most powerful torch I have found for 1 AA battery. Build quality is solid, however 2 of the units clips came off as screws would not fit in threaded holes. Doesn't change the fact the light is incredibly functional, and it hardly affects the value.

This is one great value in a flashlight. Its nearly as bright as the one that uses 3 aaa's. Side by side you cant tell the difference. Much easier and cheaper to replace 1 AA. Really great light..wish I could afford to by a dozen.

Excellent flashlight. I got one, then three more, and just now another 3. They've all been 100%, extremely bright, water resistant (accidentally dropped one in the pool, noticed about a minute later, got it out- opened it up back on dry land; there wasn't a drop inside & the light still worked great.) Still using that one, it's about 6 mo. old now & still perfect. They are GREAT gifts becasuse everybody wants one when they see it!

Tested good with bright output first day, but didn't last 2 min when I used it a few days later. DEAD, no output after a few power cycles. It's a little bulky for a 1xAA size. Meritline Customer Service was outstanding as usual refunded whole amount to me.

Excellent product! Extremely well made. Purchased one and found it to be a "can't live without it" item for my work. Purchased six more to have two spares and to give as gifts to family and friends, who have asked me to order more for them. Best light of its kind I have ever owned. It is a great value at the price and I can recommend it without reservation!

It is hard to believe that so much light can come using only one AA battery. I tried to order more for gifts but they are no longer listed at Meritline and cost considerably more at other stores. The light is pure daylight not the yellow that is put out by the heavy six volt lantern it replaced. The zoom is particularly good for finding house numbers at night from 50 feet away.

This is the 4th one I have bought of these. I love em, they are bright, use a standard AA and the build quality is excellent. The price has gone up from my previous purchases ($9.99 and now they are $12.99) So I waited for it to go on sale and grabbed #4. I will purchase more if they reduce the price back to $9.99 or see them on sale again.

I bought this flashlight with very low expectations. It was only $10, only runs on a single AA battery, is very small, etc. so I didn't think it could compete with my much more expensive flashlights. However, I was very wrong! This is my new favorite flashlight and I take it with me anytime I'm going to be out in the dark. It is pretty bright and has a huge spread when zoomed out. When zoomed in, the focused beam is VERY bright and has a very long throw (comparable to the "Luxury LED Flashlight with Torch Mount Clamp Holder" Item Number 248-637-001, found at http://www.meritline.com/luxury-led-flashlight-with-torch-mount-clamp-holder---p-39634.aspx). Anyone looking for a bright, compact flashlight should definitely pick one of these up!

I agree with all the other reviewers. Excellent flashlight. This has become my favorite light. I like having one AA battery. AAs have the highest power to cost ratio. This lamp has the electronics to pump the 1.5 volts to the higher voltage to drive the CREE Q3 LED. Nice. Single mode is fine. GOOD SWITCH. I even like the heavy duty belt clip.

I don't consider having only 1 mode is a con , because more modes equals more battery drain and broader chance to get broken if used inproperlly .

This is a great little flashlight! It's smaller in diameter the the other lights since it uses only 1 AA batter. But it puts out a lot more light! I've ordered several lights here and this is the best! It seems to be made well also. No problems with the on-off switch. The zoom focus is easy to move from beam to larger area and back. That makes it easy to work with one hand so you can carry something in the other hand!

The exact same unit is available online with an XR-E Q5 emitter for ten bucks and free shipping. The Q5 is brighter and more efficient. The Q5 version is also rated for higher voltages which allows you to use a lithium 10440 rechargable at 3.7v for a much brighter light. Even with alkaline or NiMH batteries it is brighter and/or more efficient. the Q5 version doesn't carry the SiPiK label but simply Cree. Do a search - it is a better light. One problem they seem to share is that the screws that hold the clip use a very small star bit. I have a pretty good collection of bits but not one that small. If the clip loosens or you want to remove it, a small vice-grip is about the only answer unless you have a very good bit collection.

I have got to stop ordering these flashlights! Every time I see them I sale I feel the compulsion to order more. The single AA size makes it quite compact, yet the light output is AMAZING! Zoom out to illuminate something close up, zoom in to spot something at a distance.

This flashlight was a big hit here. Everyone who has seen it was blown away by how bright it is and how solid it feels. When I tell them the price, you can see their jaws drop. I have purchased a lot of portable lights over the years. If we ever have a blackout, I'm in business! Of all, this would have to be my favorite, so far. Am planning to buy another next time I see a coupon. 5+ stars.

Buyer beware! These flashlights are no longer the great quality flashlights that received the first few hundred reviews (once made by Sipik); they're now very cheaply made (right down to the yellow, triangle-shaped, pathetic foil sticker) and not as bright. They are NOT worth anything above $6 (and that's total price, including shipping)-- shame on you Meritline!

Was very bright, I liked the fact that it used only one easily obtainable AA battery. I did not use it much and suddenly once I needed it the output was extremely low. You could basically just see the LED glowing faintly without emmiting much light. I thought it was the battery but nope. Tried multiple new batteries and you just see faint glowing LED.

I can say this is THE BRIGHTEST flashlight I have ever seen. (Granted I don't have a lot of intense flashlights, but I do have many LED flashlights). Compared to one that's 180 lumens that also has THREE CREE LED's, (3 LED's total, 1 LED in each "tube" @60 lumens each, all on the same time) this one appears to be SEVERAL TIMES brighter! BTW, I use 1.85v NiZn PowerGenix rechargeable in mine which is much brighter than alkaline.

I was so impressed by this light that it compelled me to write my first review here. It is very well made and compact (uses a single AA). The focus slider is pretty smooth and the throw goes from a really wide area to a narrow beam that goes at least 200ft at night. Its a steal when it comes on sale and would really recommend it.

This is a good product. It works well. The focus can't slide with just the thumb, you need both hands, which is a minus. The battery doesn't last too long. It would be good if it had a dimmer. I want one of these with an even stronger bulb. But I use it all the time and recommend it highly. There are other versions with 3 AAA's that focus with one hand, I use one of them. The kind that you twist that I got is not as bright, btw. Show me one with a 3 watt CREE and I'm buyin it. This hangs on keychain (is largish for that) well, too. Replaced my old Infinity Tasklight.

Very bright. Lasts a decent amount of time with a NiMh AA battery. My only complaint is the zoom slider is very loose. Will move on it's own if you apply any centrifugal force on it. Would buy again, definitely.

I bought 7 of these when they had a sale. These are the best one AA battery flashlight out there. This is even better than some two AA battery flashlights I have. I have all types of flashlights from the Maglights, Streamlights, Surefires, Fenix, etc. This is my favorite. I put one in every room in case of a power outage or emergency at night. The focus on the spot mode isn't round but it is brighter with a pin point. I prefer the flood mode. This is perfect for camping. The clip isn't user friendly and no lanyard comes with this flashlight. I am currently using Sanyo Eneloop batteries with these. When they go on sale buy many! These would make great gifts. The build seems very sturdy and I have not tested these for waterproofness or shock/drop.

% stars and I would give it another 5 if I could. These lights are awesome. Hands down a killer light. I went frog gigging with some buds and they had the usual suspects when it came to lights. I pulled out this little guy and hung it around my neck and they laughed. By the end of the night they had watched me spotlight frogs from 4 times the distance they could and they were all wanting to know where I got this light. I have 6 and will be ordering more.

I ordered these flashlights and took approximately 2 weeks to arrive at my residence. I use these flashlights in a 911 setting for fire/rescue. I cannot say how many times this flashlight has out performed other flashlights that were 6 or 7 times the price. The fact that it operates on 1 AA battery allows me to carry a extra on my uniform for extended use. It averages 45 minutes of continues use and you can tell over time when you need to put a fresh battery in. I have ordered dozens of these and handed them out to my coworkers, because on the scene of a accident visibility is number 1 and using them for patient care is also a must.

I've ordered this light and love it. It is very bright, and all of the items I have ordered work great. The only problem for using as a tac light is it doesn't have a momentary switch. When you slightly depress the power button it doesn't turn on. It does turn off when you slight depress the switch when it is on; but that isn't useful at all. The problem, for non-LE people, is if you drop this light while conducting a building search, it stays on. I would be buying these and giving them away at work if it the switch would just have a momentary setting. 4-stars, unless the switch gets changed.

I have numerous CREE LED flashlights, and this is a great addition. Nice, bright, tight beam. The focusing feature tightens the beam much more, yielding an intense spotlight that shines farther than any other LED I have. I'd say construction is above average for lights of this price. When I showed a friend, he said "I want one." It doesn't say it's compatible with 3.7V LiIon cells, but I've used one in it for a short time, and so far it's holding up. The higher voltage really boosts the output of this already bright light! I plan to buy a couple more.

have to say its an excellent purchase took it to a camping trip and left those big ass torches behind! this was sufficient, very very bright. keep away from children! on the downside, its not as bright with the 1.2v cells, more brighter with the 14500 battery but also runs very very hot with those batteries ... so much as it becomes dificult to hold it ... so batter to run on 1.2v and hold a warm torch rather than a super hot one

ok, so i bought 2 torch light lamps and one arrived 'defective' in that the focus ring was so loose it would not stay in one position if you turned the body 90 degrees...i contacted meritline immediately expecting i would have to return the defective torch light with an rma #...but no, the gal said "we'll drop ship you a new one & don't worry about the defective one - just keep it"...that's real customer service: making a business decision that is win-win for both meritline and the customer (and you know it doesn't always happen)...based on this experience (1 defective item out of at least 30 products i've bought from meritline) i will continue to do business with them and purchase another set of torch lights as well...great prices, great products, excellent customer service (this is the winning formula)...les

If you think this is bright with a AA battery, try a rechargeable TRUSTFIRE 14500. It seems like it doubles the brightness. Not sure of the effect it will have on the bulb life, and I haven't checked how long it will run on the 14500 compared to a AA. But I have more than one 14500 and since it's rechargeable, no problem.

My new favorite flashlight - literally the size of my thumb and even out-powering my previous favorite of the 160 lumen Cree (that takes 3xAAA batteries) that I bought in a 2-pk from Costco about 2 years back. Very well built, and the focus feature is actually useful. Haven't had an opportunity to use the belt clip yet becasue it's so small that it just drops into a jacket pocket. Especially hilarious is to stack this against my 3-D Cell Maglite with the Xenon replacement bulb - makes the Maglite look like a candle by comparison

This flashlights are pretty good, but not great. They aren't as bright as 248-420-001, but are smaller. I think that if they used 2 or 3 AA batteries in series they would be brighter. The case is awfully convoluted for no reason and there is no strap, but it does have a clip for securing in your pocket.

This has got to be one of my favorite items here. Even though it is a great value at regular price, when they go on sale for 9.99 or less, I have got to get more. As flashlights go, this one is: A: BRIGHT!!, B: Well made, C: Uses a standard AA battery, D: just the right size, with a nice clip installed, E: Did I say BRIGHT??? Seriously, if you haven't bought one of these yet, you have no idea what you are missing. One of these will turn you into a flashlight fanguy (or girl)!

in the description of the article indicates that the lamp has an output of 5W when in fact it is 3w and other data to take into account is also indicated in the description that the flashlight has 3 operating positions when it really has only 1. For the rest it is a great power of light is small, uses only one AA battery, this is all very positive.

This light never ceases to amaze me. How can one AA battery produce a beam so bright? I have bought several. They make great gifts. I keep one in my tool bag for work and one in every glove box. The zoom can be adjusted with the same hand holding the light. Battery life is excellent. Great product.

By far the best flashlight I've ever owned. It's incredibly bright and easy to adjust. It's also very light. The best part is that it runs off a single AA battery -- none of that 3 AAA mess here. It's small and compact. I just bought another one to leave in my car in case of emergencies. Con: The flashlight doesn't come with any sort of lapel or place to attach one. Using the clip is kind of awkward. I mostly just leave it in my pocket if I'm going places.

I spent days looking at every single one of the flashlights here to find the brightest ONE-mode flashlight, yet contrary to the webpage, it's not. Now since I've received it someone has CHANGED that info to 5 modes in the description, yet it still states ONE mode at the top and in the HTML title bar. That's the first problem. The other: the claim of 1000 lumens is so far off it's almost laughable. I have a couple of the 188-912-001 I got from Meritline, (single AA battery!) which said it was 200 lumens when I ordered it, but someone more recently changed that to 260. Well that light is nearly as bright as this so-called "1000 lumen" light! I would say this one is only about ~350 lumens, and that's with a just-charged ~4.1v 18650 battery! A waste of $ since for several bucks LESS you can get a 188-912-001 which uses ONE cheap easy-to-find AA battery and is almost as bright. (I can't believe how many complaints ML has regarding not being able to get flashlight modes correct).

This light is amazing. A quality housing and unreal amount of light from a single AA. Can't speak as to battery life as I haven't run one dead yet, but for the price of a AA you could afford to change it three times a day. I'm getting 3 more. Got a Q5 at the same time, one battery cost twice as much as the light would not recmond one of those.

This lamp is very bright for its size but has two main design flaws. First, it's not an ideal "every day carry" (EDC) light. Its outer surface has lots of sharp edges and projections, so it is likely to tear up your pocket or backpack. Everything about this little flashlight screams "I am tin but macho and I will poke a hole in your clothing." Second, when you slide the lens to focus the beam tightly, you don't get a nice even round spot; you get a square spot that shows an image of the LED. So... bottom line is that for the price it's a good deal but don't buy it as a pocket light or you'll end up with a hole in your pants.

I agree with most of the reviews on here. This light is really powerful, especially considering it runs on a single AA. I will see if this light holds up to every day carry well enough to replace my other light that costs more than 10x more.

Maybe I just received a bad one, since everyone seems to be very satisfied with this flashlight. I loved mine, until the interior corroded and killed it after less than a year. I thought the battery had leaked, but the battery was fine when I removed it. The inside of the flashlight just corroded on its own. The flashlight was just sitting on a shelf in the house - no moisture or anything. I didn't realize it had a warranty (although it would likely cost more to return it than it was worth). May try another one, to see if I just got a defective unit.

Very solid light for The money. I have purchased more than 100 various flashlights lights in the last decade or so and at least 20 of this particular model. More reliable than most although we only expect about 3 months of daily use before the switch or some contact point gives out. It has been a standard issue tool for our a/v installers for the past 18 months. Sadly, we will be looking for a new model to replace the current ones as they die out. On our most recent order THE BELT CLIP IS NO LONGER MADE OF SPRING STEEL. Insignificant to some I'm sure, but its a deal breaker for us. The clip is now made of a soft metal that renders it useless as a reliable way to secure the light. PROs price durability AA battery bright light focus is pretty useful CONS only durable to a point...3 month's daily use. Pocket clip now made of useless soft metal instead of the previous spring steel. Deal breaker for me.

This is the flashlight I find myself carrying most often so far - It's very compact, clips to the pocket, the zoom function is very handy, and like others have commented, on full zoom the emitter die shape is displayed on a planar surface like a wall. Pretty bright with a AA alkaline battery, you can really "wake it up" by dropping in a 3.7V 14500 Li-ion cell, but be warned that the head gets pretty hot when the light is on for more than 5 minutes. Maybe a little heat transfer paste is in order here...

A super bright well-made light that works nicely with an AA battery but SCREAMS with a 14500 battery. Word to the wise: Make sure you get high-quality Li-ion rechargeable 14500 batts. The "normal" rechargeable nonprotected 14500 non-lithium batts do work, but only last like maybe 10 minutes. You can maybe squeeze 30 minutes from a high-quality lihium rechargeable. The silver 14500 Ultrafire batts seem to work okay, although there are probably better brands. The orange Ultrafires will only give you maybe 10 minutes.

Outstanding Product. Super Bright. Rugged/Sturdy construction. Runs on only a double A which is key as they are sold EVERYWHERE. Battery life is reasonable. The Zoom is a plus. A Cree light made this well for $10!?!?! I used para cord to create a loop and strung it through the clip on the side which is very stiff (a good thing) Now I can hang it from anything - including Caribiners on my backpack, etc. Can't recommend this product enough. And that's coming from a flashlight snob.

The wide angle light pattern from having the lens all the way in is the widest, brightest pattern I've ever seen in any flashlight. Very good upgrade from several years old led bike lights. Wish it had a flashing mode. A bit of internet searching leads me to think this might allow a 3.6 volt lithium ion 14500 batter to drive it. Has anyone tried that? Similar units boast "300 LUMENS" when driven by the 3.6/3.7v 14500 batteries.

Ordered three of these in successive orders. The flashlight is no doubt bright and is handy using only one AA battery compared to my other flashlights that use more than 1 batteries. The focus feature is cool. But I do not think the lumens measure is accurate or if the bulb is indeed from CREE. Though the site mentions about this but there is no indication on the item carton or on the bulb. Its an overall good buy.

This is actually a very good little flashlight. I like the fact that it only has 1 mode comparing to other LED flashlight made these days with 3 modes. For general application, single mode is good enough I think; just ON/OFF. It's compact in size (like a roll of quarters, but lighter) and very handy. I never timed the length of a single battery, but I use the industrial strength AA alkaline battery to power this unit and it lasted a long time based on general use (not trying to save the battery, but turn off when not in use kind of habit.) One important aspect I noticed is this unit does not drain the batter when it's off comparing to my other 3-mode LED flashlights that depletes the battery juice at a much higher rate. I own 6 of these little lights already - I keep one at the convinient locations through out the house/cars.

This is my all time favorite flashlight. I have now ordered at least 20 of these lights for friends and family.Out of those 20 lights only 2 have failed and meritline promptly sent me a free replacement with no hassle. It is really amazing how much light this little torch puts out with just a single AA battery and the battery life is great also. I am in law enforcement and I use this torch everyday during searches. Many of my fellow officers have replaced their Maglites and high dollar surefire lights for this one because it is so much more economical to use and the brightness is greater. Trust me you won't go wrong if you order one of these torches.I love how you can adjust the beam with one hand while holding your weapon with the other because the head of the light easily slides forward instead of having to twist from wide to zoom. There's nothing else I can really say except try it, you won't be sorry!!

This is an awesome little light. I can't believe how much light this thing produces from only 1 AA battery. It's literally brighter than my full size Mag Light 3D cell with the Krypton bulb. The only down sides are I wish the beam focus would lock in place- it just slides in and out- kinda loose. Also, as you'd expect it drains batteries fairly quickly. Get some good 2500mAh rechargeables.

Easily the best & brightest flash I own. I've ordered four of this model and always carry one for searching through drawers, cabinets, under car seats, etc.. The older you get the less light sensitive your eyes have so this baby is getting a LOT of use as I head into my 60's. Caution: read these reviews before buying... most will give you clues as to quality... This one is a keeper. I've ordered quite a few losers in the past that are no where near the brightness of this model. PS: I always remove the spring clip... much too stiff.

Can't recommend these lights highly enough. I carried one regularly for several months before losing it and promptly ordered another. Build quality is incredible for the price--an absolute tank of a flashlight, and the beam is ferociously bright. The very stout belt clip ensures that the light stays put where it's clipped. Obviously, with a single AA battery driving a 160 lumen emitter, battery life is not all that great, but it still took a couple months of intermittent use for the light to dim perceptibly, and AA batts are cheap enough not to care about the cost. In summary: great light, buy one.

This is a great light. I have a hard time believing the 200 lumen claim, but it is very bright. I can't comment on battery life yet, but using only 1 AA isn't going to result in great battery life any way you cut it. Quick comment on water resistance. I've tested this with a submersion test and it nominally passed. From what I gather, the front "slide" portion isn't protected by an o-ring. So after my 10 second submersion test the lens fogged up pretty good. The o-ring protecting the battery compartment worked well and kept the battery compartment bone dry. So, I'd say it's fine for splashes, but not a long submersion.

I love this light. In fact I've ordered seven. I use the PowerGenix NiZN (nickel zinc) AA rechargeable batteries. BigLots sells the charger and batteries cheap. They charge to over 1.8 volts which makes this little flashlight a power beacon! I sold my huge bulky rechargeable spotlight. These do the same work and fit in the palm of your hand. BTW, you can unscrew the focus collar to clean the front lens. A real winner.

I liked this thing so much that I ordered a second one and now a third one to give as a gift. The second one though it looked similar to the first was labeled as having a Q5 instead of the Q3. Both lights are very bright the Q5 has a whiter tint to the light and when focused appears brighter than the Q3. I also ordered a 14500 battery to see if this thing can take it. order one you'll enjoy it.

VERY bright light with variable focus. Some artifacts are present when adjusted to the "pinpoint" mode. Uses 1 "AA" battery (R6, LR6) Overall, a very bright & sturdy little flashlight.

Very satisfied with this flashlight - very bright. Will shine very far. At focused zoom, it shines the square shape of the LED chip. Heavy duty metal so it feels much heavier than other flashlights of the same size. No strap is included but there is a hole in the clip so you can add one. The clip is really stiff

Pros: - 100% value for the price. - Super powerful for just using a single AA battery. - Compact. - Well constructed. - Totally blows away a 9 led flashlight in comparison. - The zoom feature is cool. Can concentrate and project the beam at quite a distance. - Can stand on the base as a candle. Reflect light on the ceiling in flood mode, able to see everything in a standard sized room. Cons: - I had to open the lens and clean the reflector. - The screws holding the clip were a lil loose. Had to tighten them. Verdict: I'd totally buy this flashlight again if I need a second one.

If you're like me, you have a number of used Alkaline AAs with some life left in them, but not enough to be used in a battery chain. Well, now you have a use for these Orphan Batteries, providing that you only need to use them for a few minutes at a time. Keep in mind that this flashlight has a voltage multiplier built in, so that 1 battery can take the place of 3 or 4 - Hence the Huge Drain. Alkalines can recover from large drains a number of times, providing that they are not totally squeezed out of juice. The best AA battery to use for an extended period is a Lithium which will give at least 1.5 hours of continuous use. It also recovers, but not as fast as an Alkaline. The only thing missing on this light is a reduced setting, for extended time. Otherwise, This Is The Best In Class, for Short Runs.

Brilliant white light, runs for an hour on a single 2600mAh NiMH AA battery before dimming (rapidly). Zoom functionality is useful. Aluminum body is solidly crafted, and easily dissipates the heat from the LED. Liked the first two I bought enough to buy another three as gifts. An excellent tool.

I am very happy with this product... I work regularly (in NYC) as a bouncer/security at various clubs so I rely on flashlights for many important tasks. This unit is my favorite; it's 100% reliable, providing a lot of light & very rugged design. I've dropped it a few times on the ground but no damage. Once it fell to the bottom of a garbage bag and sat in lots of gross liquid for about 15 minutes -- all I had to do was wash it off with soap & water (yes, I ran it under the faucet) & it worked with no problem. I am probably gonna buy another one for my fellow worker. It's comparable to models that cost close to $100+ -- Definitely a great buy!!!

This is a jump ahead of similarly priced flashlights. The zoom feature throws a usable beam several hundred feet. In wide mode, the beam produces a very nice circle of bright light. It uses a single AA battery and had one mode making this flashlight very easy to live with. I highly recommend it.

I have now ordered 20 of these great lights. I have been a flashlight fanatic for years and this little light is my all time favorite. If you are in law enforcement you will love it. I have ordered over 10 of these lights for my fellow officers and will be ordering more. Trust me you won't be disappointed if you buy one. They work great with a standard 1AA battery but will also throw out a blinding beam with a 3.6 volt battery.

This is the best $10 flashlight I've come across. I own better, but for a lot more money. This is simple, it takes one AA battery. It does one job and it does it well. I've ordered a few more for friends and family. I'm not sure how well it will hold up to wet weather with the sliding focus being a potential spot for moisture to get in, but I don't think I'll chance it.

I have a lot of LED flashlights (call it a fetish) but this has become my new favorite. I even bought a second one. It's very bright. I love that it takes one AA and I like the quick focus change (just push-pull the head). I also like that it doesn't have the multi-modes of a lot of these that all end up breaking. It's either on or off. Sure the battery doesn't last as long as others (though plenty long enough) but it's a simple matter of physics. You pull a lot of light from one battery, it goes quicker. You can't have something for nothing...

What can I say? I love this flashlight!!! It is a steal at the sale price. VERY bright! Seems really well made and sturdy. Like the "tactical" look of it. I've tried with an alkaline battery and NiMH rechargeable. NiMH seems even brighter. Either way this thing is impressive! Focus beam is square. It's actually the outline of the blinding cree emitter. Kinda cool. Have three more on the way as gifts.

Pros: bright, small, made of metal, sturdy, focusing is good, does seem to have a constant-current driver, price ($10) is good, uses AA battery. Cons: None yet. Other thoughts: This one puts a lot of "super bright LED flashlights" to shame.

"WOW!" ...is what i said, the first time i turned this torch light on. I love flashlights and i used to buy those fairly common 9 or 10 LED inexpensive flashlights from local places or deals websites (and they all seem dim now in comparison) and then i took a chance on spending 10 bucks for one of these from Meritline after reading very positive reviews about this Cree light (the Cree name is new to me)... and NOW... i carry one of these in my coat pocket, one in my car, have one at my bedside, one on my coffee table and i have several spares! .... i LOVE this light.. adjustable beam, perfectly even coverage (no dark spots in the wide beam at all), and when focused to a beam, it shines very far - and like everyone else says, you can see the shape of the emitter.. i haven't run down a battery yet so i can't comment on battery life but don't care since it's only 1 AA battery required.. I just sent one of these to my brother in law in the Navy.. he'll appreciate the heavy duty belt clip

Looks solid and bright. However, focusing ring is just a aluminum ring and doesn't feel that it will last. Probably it will let a lot of dust in between LED and lens. It would bee nice if this could take Li-Ion (anytype) battery as well. I'm also disappointed at meritline. I ordered it 12/24/2010. E-mailed 1/10/2011 because I have not received item yet. I was told it was shipped 12/27/2010. Got it in the mail today, 1/18/10. The package was post marked on 1/10/2011. It must been shipped out on the same day I asked question about the item.

After seeing this info I went and ordered 3 of them. I have been testing them and am very happy. The tint is nice white, one being just a bit cooler than the other 2. I knew it was just what a friend would think perfect for his needs, and Mike has been showing it off to everyone. I have added one to my EDC kit along with a NW Quark AA, and a CR2 mini Warm on key ring. It fits the Quark AA holster very well. Since my Quark has all the levels I need, this having one level is not a problem. (Now I carry 3 different tints... Warm, Neutral, and Cool). It is bright on Eneloop, but 14500 is brighter still, and is the same as I use in the Quark. Having an even flood light is great for some situations, and the reach of the square spot is really out there! It has a quality tough build, and the zoom resistance is perfect on all 3, works easily with one hand but is not loose. It appears to have HA, I have dropped it on the driveway already. This is a great deal! The other one is going to

This has two settings: on/off. That's all I need. What's more important is the zoom function which works very well. I own six of these and the lite this throws is phenominal, especially being powered by a AA battery. This light can stand on it's head or tail and is built solidly. Has orings but haven't tested its' water proofness.

It's a nice little flashlight. I bought it because I wanted a bright adjustable focus flashlight that was single mode. The flashlight is sturdy, but the focus mechanism isn't the tightest. Maybe some grease will tighten up the action. I'm not crazy about the little clip, but it's okay. My only real complaint, is that the switch is a reverse-clicky and is recessed too much for operation with gloves on. I could care less about tail-standing, so a more accessible switch would be welcome. I can't figure out who actually likes reverse-clicky switches....

Surprised at how well built this Sipik branded flashlight is. Picked two of them up from Meritline when they were on sale, and the quality to cost ratio is off the chart, IMO. Wonderful adjustable beam, which, at its concentrated setting, has a pattern that is more square than spherical, which I happen to like. Can't say anything about power usage at this point, but I use rechargeable batteries, and am not that concerned. Very satisfied, and I can see myself buying some more for people as gifts.

This is an excellent little lite. Who cares how many lumens - it's bright enough to see in sunlight. I have one of the bigger flashlights that use an 18650 - and I never trust its safety. This one runs from safe AA batteries so I could give one to the wife with confidence. This has a smaller beam, but every bit as bright as the big one. One nice thing I found out - It will run on almost dead batteries in a pinch. I tried it on an alkaline battery that I took out of my wireless mouse because it stopped working. The boost circuit for the LED took what the battery still had left and shines as bright as a fresh battery. Probably won't run too long but great as a backup. So I put a bunch of "dead" batteries in the cars console so I have backups. It's the boy scout in me..

bought 2 an both worked great out of the box. been using 1.2v 1900mah eneloop rechargeable batt and they last around an hour. there brighter then my OG mag light and can stand straight up all by its self (this helps when your under a sink) overall I'm very pleased these. i was at my folks house showing it off to my Dad and well, i left down a flashlight.. I do have a question though. i stumbled upon some 3.7v lith batts and stuck one in the FL and WOW it was bright! can the circuitry handle the Volts? I think the LED would be ok. I left it on for 30sec and it was a little warm but it gets warm with 1.2v. thanks

Chris on 2/4/2013

This light great. It is decently bright for a single AA light, and it has a good switch and decent feel in your hand. The switch was a little stiff at first, but I am used to it and it feels good now. It is a little smaller than I expected, since I own another single AA LED light that is bigger than this, but I enjoy the small size. The focus on it seems to be a gimmick. The light isn't really bright enough to use outside for seeing any significant distance, so I never need to focus it to spot beam. My son likes to focus it all the way down and see the image of LED on the wall though, so I guess that is good. The light is bright, no doubt, but less so than a few of my other slightly more expensive LED lights ($30-$40 range). It's too bright to look into, so it's bright enough. The best thing I like is the single mode. No low and certainly no "blinky" mode. Best feature of this light. You click it, it comes on.

What a great flashlight. It's built like a tank out of a great quality aluminum, and has a high quality glass lens I've actually bought 2 of these (in different colors) over the years and they blow those other similar sized multi-LED flashlights out of the water in just about every way. The light output is excellent- and you'll have a tough time finding a similar light at this price that matches it. It is only a single mode, so it's either on or off. Also it's zoomable, so you can light up small areas or larger areas by sliding the lens area. Be warned- because this is only a single AA light and it has a powerful LED element, it will go through batteries more quickly than other lights. If battery life is more important than light output, try buying another flashlight with different light output settings or one that uses more than a single battery. For a simple comparison, I have a 1st generation 2AA mag-lite LED, and this light at full brightness (a fresh battery) beats it.

Just put a meritline 14550 battery in this little flashlight and WHOA! It doubles the lumen output just like I had read elsewhere. Since the CREE LED is rated for it, should have no problems with life expectancy. Like others have said, it has a few connection issues where it does not want to come on sometimes and since it will often change by unscrewing it, I'm pretty sure it is not the switch.

Used it daily for a year, as an electrician. It took a beating, dropped in water (sump pump), off ladders. Wish it had clamps like a work/trouble light. :) Very battery efficient, I use it for short periods less than 5 mins and only used a total of three batteries in a year! I still use it although I believe the switch is on its way out, as I have to tap it to get it to work now. Seem to be at least 500 lumens, because now I have a 1000 Lumen Prdt# 0011934-001

This is the best flashlight I have every seen. It is a great gift for friends or family. I have bought 12 more. I have them in our motorcycles, cars and trucks and in every room in the house. For it to be so small it has the strongest light. I can go outside at night and can actually see deer in my yard. It has a strong light that u can see far away. Well worth the money.

I bought my first one of these almost two years ago and have since ordered at least fifteen more. I have given all of them away and they all are very appreciated. I carry it in my front pocket everyday and it now looks like an old light saber but still functions perfectly, the only complaint I have is that the switch will sometimes not respond if it has been on for an extended period of time or if the battery starts to get too low. Focus is very useful and I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about when they say the clip isn't functional, clip still works exactly as it did the day I got it. I've bought just about every flashlight that merit line sells and this is still my favorite.it honestly is a good value at twice the price.

A brilliant bargain. I'm a distance runner and wanted a hand-held in addition to my headlamp for night-time training. I became accustomed to switching off my $50 headlamp and using just the Cree Q3. I bought a second to leave in the glove-box of my car. I wish I had an excuse to buy another. It's that good.

Decent flashlight for everyday carry. Pocket clip is a little clumsy but fairly functional and robust. Light is bright enough to use for illuminating a large area. Less bright than a 230 lumen light I have, but pretty close. The focus feature isn't great, but it works as designed. Small enough to be clipped to front pocket. Switch works well, glad it only has one mode. Battery life is good. I would prefer it to use a single CR123 vs the AA. Nothing bad to say about this light. Good deal for the money. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small flashlight for EDC, glovebox, purse, etc. 5 starts at this price.

About as big as a bic lighter, and astonishingly bright. Definetly brighter than my 150 lumen flashlight. The focus expands out to a large diameter with smooth even distribution of light, and when focused into a narrow beam is like a stage light, tight focus with an edge of darkness, for lack of a better term. Simply amazing for the price. Well made, I've ordered more. I highly recomend.

The flashlight is decent. It is compact and solidly built. But there are much brighter for the money. But after <6 months of owning it, the CR123A battery that came with it completely corroded and expanded inside the flashlight, ruining it. This is something to be aware of (and another reason I always buy AA or AAA battery flashlights).

This is a great flashlight. I've had it for a while now and use it frequently. Small enough to keep in my pocket when camping or out and about, and powerful enough to make a difference. The focus zoom works really well too: gives nice diffused beam, or really tight spot.

Nearly identical in brightness to a 1-watt flashlight I got at Home Depot. I love being able to use AA--the cheapest batteries around, but I may try a lithium-ion battery to see if we can get a few more lumens out of it. Very nice build quality. Identical to the 188-751 flashlight I got in the same order, except for color, but this one was $1 more expensive. I would give it 5 stars if it were brighter than my 1-watt lights.

I am very sastified with this flashlight. It is very bright for 1 AA battery. YES, mine does work with a single AA. With an NMH rechargable, it lasts about 40-50min, about the same as a quality disposable battery. I have lots of 2400-2500mw batteries, carry a spare when I think I will use it.

The light is fairly bright although not up to the claimed lumens. However, the knurling is too shallow to afford any grip at all and the tailcap switch is set too deep to operate with one hand as a tactical light. This is NOT a safe carry light - it is good for general flashlight use only. Or ... you get what you pay for.

As far as the light output, this little flashlight exceeded my expectations. I have never bought really expensive flashlights, but this is so far the brightest one I have ever owned. It is small and fits easily in the pocket yet provides more light than many big, bulky flashlights. One minor issue is that the on/off switch sometimes takes few clicks to turn the light off. I have been using it several times already, few minutes each time, and the batteries are still OK. Bought another one as a gift since I love it!

Bought these for my husband for Christmas. He had seen one that a friend had and wanted one of his own. I got two, just in case. They are the brightest little lights I have ever seen. My husband loves them for walking out side at night, they light up for 20 feet in front of him. These really are amazing. The only concern I have, is that something on their product paperwork says they have chemicals that cause birth defects. This is worrysome if trying to get pregnant... so I stay clear of them for now. I suspect it is only if you break them and chemicals come out.

Well made and extremely bright. Stays about full brightness for about an hour with rechargeable NiMh battery, but it still has at least a second hour of usable light output for walking at night, etc. A fresh standard alkaline battery lasts about 30 minutes, then dims quickly. AA lithium battery lasts about 2 1/2 hour. I bought 4 as gifts, and ended up keeping one for myself.

This is the fourth or fifth of this flashlight model I ordered. One is a bit less bright than the others but all have acceptable light output from NiMH batteries and very good to excellent output from NiZn batteries. Quality of manufacturing has varied, with a rusty spot on the pocket clip of this light that I had to polish with steel wool and then refinished to prevent rust. One other light has a switch that has intermittently failed to work. Overall, a good value, especially when it is on sale at a discounted price. I now have one in the pocket of each jacket I wear while walking our dog. Seems a bit less bright than SKU# 188-935 that is described as having the same light output.

Awesome light. I'll post pictures. I have not verified that it is a CREE light, but the unit came identified on the paperwork as a CREE Q5. Sucks down juice faster than an Alkaline AA can provide it. After an hour, the light was still bright. Once the light goes out, the battery can be left alone overnight and it will magically work again!

Better than expected brilliance. Easily exceeds performance of cheapo multi-LED flashlights. The one very small drawback is that the beam focus ring is very easy to move, but don't let that discourage a purchase.

Well Lit on 11/27/2011

The diameter of the finned area just behind the focusing sleeve is approximately one inch, if you get a -QUALITY- one inch rifle scope mounting ring (NOT found here) you can clamp onto that area of the torch and still leave the clip (if you would want to ??). That is the ONLY area of the light that is suitably sized for scope mounting ring sizes available without a bushing (which is a terrible alternative!). In this arrangement the Sipik Meritline 188-912 is a MOST effective long gun Weaver/Picatinney rail mounted light. Don't forget to install the Li-Ion battery for the maximum lumens.

I was looking for a zoom and something brighter than my Maglight. The zoom is awesome just using you r one hand; and for a small, AA single battery, this thing throws out so much light for it's size, I was impressed when I put in a 2000 NiMH battery in it. This is all I use when ever I need some light.

$ for $ none can match the value and utility of this powerful 1 - cell (1,5 v AA) battery. Wide and narrow bezel front focus, light weight and an unbelievable low drain time are just a few of the additional assets. I can also easily see this hard mounted - bridge above fixed sites of a rifle or pistol.

I used this light as my primary flashlight in a professional auto tech setting where 120 dollar plus stinger lights are commonplace. This little light held its own pretty well when compared with those. Maybe not quite as intense and not as much capacity but this light is very bright and focused. The conditions were rough and it worked great for 6 months until I lost it(or maybe my jealous co-worker stole it?). I powered it with eneloop and recycko NiMh 2100mAH batteries and it would go almost 1 week on a charged cell. I'm ordering another one now.

I lost the ones from Costco, and the meritline one broke after one week... but this one looks like it's made to last. This is a very nice flashlight, and a hell of a bargain, if you know what you're buying. There are better LED lights, but not at this price, and not with all its features. If you stick a proper Lithium-ion battery in there, (just search for 14500 battery in Google,) you'll be shocked at the light output when you go outside. Oddly, you can't feel how far it throws from shining in inside a building. You really need to go out on a dark night with it. It's probably about 140-160 lumens OTF with that battery. The LED output is purplish. Maybe it's a reject from the CREE Q3 color bin, but it's as bright as any Q3 emitter. It's also got a weird lens that causes the beam to be square on its tightest setting, IF you shine it on a nearby wall. The effect goes away at more than 50 feet. The focusing mechanism is almost comically rudimentary, like something Fred Flinstone might have had, but it works fine. The construction seems quite good (for the price) and the switch is very nice. Mak

These flashlights really are the best. I've bought a couple for myself and a number for my friends. We've used them for night hiking. You can adjust from flood to spot light with one hand, since the lens barrel just slides, not twists. Expect about an hour of run time out of a NiMH AA battery.

VERY BRIGHT. Works on one AA cell. I tried a 3v cell, but did not notice enough difference to warrant the price of the 3v battery. Can focus the beam to a square image that can be projected a long distance. If this could be mounted on a pistol it would be great for home defence.

This is the second of these flashlights that I've bought and used. The other was the grey version and I got it from DX for a few cents more. The performance is great with a fresh battery. I've been using rechargeable NiMH AA's. I've noticed this light uses power quickly with my batteries. I took a star off because Meritline sent me a flashlight with multiple scratches on it. They are quite obvious because the black paint is removed revealing a silver base color. But I do like the lights bottom line.

This is my new 'go to' guy within my collection of flashlights. Works everytime, it's bright, has an adjustable lens, makes good use of only a single AA cell and all that in a small, nicely made package. I work on cars quite a bit and at 62 I usually need extra light. This guy is great. I just stick it in my pocket using the clip and it's there (if I've got a free hand), at the ready. My buddy bought me a $70 4Seven flashlight a while back. Now THERE'S an led flashlight! But I stll grab this guy. First, I'm not worried to lose or damage it and because of the size.

Ordered one and found it to be tremendously well-made and extremely bright. Have purchased 6 more for personal use and as gifts. Great to keep in the car to see non-illuminated street signs and house/buniness addresses at night

so I tried this with a 14500 battery and let me tell you it is bright. Much brighter than with a AA battery. The only thing is rechargeable 14500 only last about 30-40 minutes. I want to use this as my bike light so AA is more cost feasible. If you thought this was bright with a AA battery try it with a 14500.

Was disappointed when the package arrived and I saw how small these flashlights are.....but then I turned it on. I couldn't beleive how bright this little thing was. It outshines many of my much larger flashlights and this thing could fit easily into any pocket or purse. Highly recommend and will probably buy a few more.

These little lights are amazing!!!! I bought one and after seeing how great it was, got 4 more..the amount of usable light these little guys throw is unbelievable!! I have flashlight contests at night with my cop friends..they usually win by a bit, but they use the $150 ones... and the quality seems to be there..Get some!!

I can confirm that it does say "Sipik SK 68 1W 1AA". It is amazing how bright it is, so if it is only 120 lumens, that is fine. it uses 1AA battery, so is very compact. Look at how many people have reviewed it, that tells you that it is popular. I have ordered two, and might get more.

Based on the reviews I ordered 3 and then ordered 5 more. The single AA battery is far cheaper than the 3 AAA's of many other flashlights. The light is very even at wide angle which makes it great for walking or hiking. This is the favorite of all my many flashlights.

I have been using many different LED flash lights paid from $20-$40, but none of them make me fully satisfied with the price, and the brightness. Very impressive with this one. So bright(3 watts of power!) for use only one AA battery, small enough but not too small to lose it easily, one setting switch is a plus for me, I have one flash light that has two setting and one has three setting switches, I found they are too much works just try to turn them off. Any way the zooming capability is fun to play with, I am very happy with this flash light, love the price also, ordered 2 more on the way.

I have a cheap flashlight fetish and have tried alot of cree lights. This one is amazingly bright and throws a LARGE field as well as a tight one by changing the focus. When in the tight field, I can light up a treetop well over 300 feet away, and it fits entirely IN my hand!! Good stuff...bought 5 more!!!

First of all when you have over a hundred reviews, you know this is a very popular item. But I was still a little skeptical, still I wanted to give it a try. It took roughly two week to get the item which is not too bad considering where it came from. I do regard myself as a flash light freak and I do own a lot of led flash lights. In terms of brightness, this light is not your average flash light. It can match up to lights costing many times over. It's probably not putting out 200 L as advertised but at least 150. Still this is powerful considering the small size and only using 1 AA cell. The focusing feature is useful although it takes a while to get used to using it. Just use your thumb and index fingers. I use NIZN rechargeabe and it lasted over 1 hour with NO loss of brightness. NOT bad battery life. You can't go wrong with this flash light for this price. The only "con" thing is I wish the light was a little longer so it can be handled easier and the light being not as blue. S

I wasn't sure what to expect, but was positively surprised. This light is very well made. I'm not a fan of focusing flashlights, but I really like the wide beam of this light. It is the brightest of all the 1AA lights I have, but it's nowhere near 200 lumen. Maybe 100, but that's still pretty bright for this type of light. I can only recommend this, especially if you get it on sale.

Wow ... what a great flashlight! I had read the reviews about the quality and they were on the money. This is one of my all time favorite flashlights. I bought an additional one after I got to use it. very well built, amazing light output for only a single AA and the adjustable focus may be the best in the biz. An interesting note is that on the tightest focus setting the actual shape of the LED itself is projected ... very cool. In the most wide angle, the beam is absolutely even through out. I just don't know how they can sell something like this so cheap ...

This was my third order for this product which performs as advertised. The flashlight is very bright both at extreme and close focus. Just by pushing the focus head forward you easily switch from a flashlight that brightens a whole room at a time to one that throw a bright beam out over 50 yards.

Impressed by the brightness and light output of this small thing! No issues turning off or on, the focusing from tight to wide is simple, just push or pull the end/lens piece. Turning does nothing. Haven't used the item to the extent of killing the battery, but I think it's nice that it only uses a single AA battery. I use rechargables, and like I said, not sure yet of how long a singe-fullcharged battery will last yet.

This is my second purchase of this torch and I must say, I'm still impressed. It's very bright. Simply the brightest light per volume I own. You can change zoom with just your thumb by following one of the six small grooves and pushing against the bezel. The only improvements I would make is to relax the clip, way too stiff. And maybe add low power and flashing modes.

I am thrilled with this flashlight and consider it my best Meritine purchase so far. I will be ordering additional ones for the glovebox of each of our cars. It's INCREDIBLY bright, especially with the beam on a tight focus (like other reviewers, I was stunned when I first turned the light on), and construction quality is excellent. I am recommending this flashlight to several friends who are "flashlight freaks" as I know they will like this flashlight as much as I do.

Bright, very bright. It can go for distance. A single AA battery takes care of it. Small, but not too small. Solid. one-hand operation. Focusing can be done with 2 fingers of the same hand. Almost water proof. It has a o-ring for the focusing lens and the end cap, but not the neck where focusing lens is located. It passed my test and still works well after I left it outside in raining days for 9 days. Torch light it is. A 5-star product with the free-shipping price it is. The 5th one is coming.
