Elden Ring, at least on consoles, is expected to be a big hit in 2022. Every gamer, whether they play Souls games or eye of horus slot, everyone hates lag. After being review bombed on release day for poor performance, the game recently received a Mostly Positive rating on Steam. As is usual of From Software, the PC port has some issues. We conducted a variety of Elden Ring benchmarks to discover the ideal settings in order to get the most out of it.

The game still has some performance issues and requires a modern PC. However, with a few tweaks to the parameters, you can get Elden Ring to look the way you want while still reaching the frame rate cap.

Elden Ring is handled differently than many of the other games for which we offer performance tips. Elden Ring, like every prior From Software PC release, is restricted at 60 frames per second (fps). As a result, testing with different cards is difficult, as many recent systems can easily exceed the limit.

As with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dark Souls 3, there should ultimately be a mod that disables the cap. These unauthorized mods, on the other hand, aren’t easy to come by. Because physics and other game elements are frequently related to the frame rate in From Software games, uncapping will almost certainly crash the game.

On a PC with middling parts from a few years ago, including a Ryzen 7 1700X, an 8GB RX 580, and 16GB of RAM. We were still able to get a decent frame rate at 1440p with setting modifications and a full 60 fps at 1080p with the Medium preset, despite the fact that this is below From Software’s suggested spec.

Depth of field and motion blur are the two major winners. Both of them should be turned off. They don’t look good, and they both have an effect on performance. They could also be creating stuttering in the game, so turn them off.

Otherwise, pretty much any choice will boost your performance. There aren’t many options for free settings. For visual purposes, we compromised and set shadows, reflection, global illumination, and volumetric quality to high. If you want to get more performance out of your computer, pay attention to the various settings, from shadow to reflection quality. These are the most crucial.

We went from an average of 29 frames per second at 1440p with the Maximum preset to 37 frames per second with my adjusted settings. It’s not bad. To be clear, with a rig like ours, you shouldn’t play Elden Ring at 1440p. To get around the 60 fps cap, we simply tested at 1440p.

System Requirements for the Elden Ring

The system requirements for Elden Ring are significantly more difficult than its visual quality would suggest. Although an older GPU from the lower end can be used, the CPU and RAM requirements are significant. You can get away with 8GB of RAM, but given the game’s current stuttering difficulties, we recommend upgrading to 16GB.

The CPU needs are really intriguing. We don’t often encounter games that require such modern processors. Even God of War’s PC port requires an Intel Core i5-2500K processor, which is six generations behind the Core i5-8400. The issue appears to be the number of threads in older Intel CPU models.

Hyperthreading isn’t available on older Intel i5 processors, and the Core i5-8400 is the first Intel i5 CPU with six cores. Although the Ryzen 3 3300X only has four cores, it includes hyperthreading, which allows it to run eight threads simultaneously. To summarize, don’t believe the system requirements. According to our research, having at least six threads is more crucial than having a processor from the last several generations.

The CPU requirements are excessively high, but the GPU needs are insufficient. We couldn’t get 60 frames per second at 1080p even with an 8GB RX 580. The 4GB model would have additional problems. Elden Ring performs best with 8GB of visual RAM, while a 6GB GTX 1060 would suffice.
