The concept of sperms came into Bollywood with Vicky Donor, and now Good Newwz has taken it one step further. A refreshing concept and beautifully dressed characters, this movie brings urban comedy to your home. Directed by Raj Mehta, Good Newwz is a Dharma Productions that has teamed up stars like Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani.
The film is releasing on 27 December 2020 and with such a great cast and production it is being expected to have a great start. Yes, there has been a lot of buzz about the film, with all the sperm mixing and the same last name confusion, but has the film done justice to all the talks? Let us know.
Good Newwz Movie Review
Good Newwz can be stated as a light-hearted, decent entertainer that has a number of plus points but doesn’t stand completely to its potential due to some negatives. The subject of the film is pretty refreshing and out of the box. The concept is something that is not discussed openly in the mainstream Industry. However, the makers have worked quite well to reduce the awkwardness during scenes related to sexual problems.
The film stays true to the genre as the makers try to bring out the funny and light-hearted moments while keeping the pace of the film tight. They have seamlessly put together drama, humor, romance, and emotions, such that there is never a dull moment.
Raj Mehta is making his directorial debut with such a complicated subject but he seems to be in total command of the situation. He has done complete justice to the written material.
Talking about comedy, all the scenes are very well written. The dialogues are hilarious and witty that will leave you in splits. However, there are some jokes that might seem to be off-color. There are certain times when the makers didn’t even try to go into the depth of the situation when it was complex.
Good Newwz Review- Plot Analysis
The film focuses on two couples that have the same surname- Batra. Deepti played by Kareena Kapoor Khan and Varun Batra played by Akshay Kumar is a high flying and posh couple. Residing in Mumbai, the two are equally involved in their own careers. At the same time, Deepti is eagerly waiting to have a baby and have been trying for many years. She and her husband finally visit the best fertility specialist in the city, Dr. Joshi. After consulting with the doctor the two decide to go for IVF.
The actual drama begins when Varun and Deepti are told after a few days of the procedure that there has been a mix-up of sperms. And then enters’ another couple with the same surname- Batra. Diljit Dosanjh aka Honey and Kiara Advani aka Monika are Batra’s from Chandigarh. They are a loud Punjabi couple and as they enter the lives of Deepti and Varun there is a complete clash of sensibilities, lifestyle and more. The rest of the movie revolves around this unusual situation of the two couples and how they come into terms with it.
Good Newwz- Cast Performance Review
Akshay Kumar is giving back to back hits and is really having a good time at the Box Office. And this time he is wowing the audience with his magical comic timing. He is an effortless actor who can make you laugh like crazy with his acting. It won’t be wrong if we say that he is actually carrying the film on his shoulders. His character actually cracks jokes on himself and leaves the audience in splits. He basically sets the screen on fire with each and every scene.
Also, Kareena Kapoor Khan has managed to steal the show with her top-notch performance. She not only looks heavenly beautiful but has played the role of a sophisticated Deepti quite well. Even the emotional arc of her character has been developed nicely.
Diljit Dosanjh has quite nicely synced into the character. He is definitely an actor of high caliber however his role is quite stereotyped as a stupid Sardaar. Every time you don’t need to portray the Punjabi character as a joker to make the audience laugh, and so, in that case, Diljit’s character seems to be loosely written. However, he has still managed to entertain the audience.
Kiara, on the other hand, makes an impression with her sincere acting. But her character could have been written better.
Good Newwz- Songs, Music
Being set in a Punjabi backdrop, the music of the film is really enjoyable. Songs like Laal Ghagra and Sauda Khara Khara will make you stand up on your feet and show your dance moves. 
Even the end sound Chandigarh Mein is quite groovy, with the titles rolling. Another song titles Maana Dil is placed properly and will surely make you emotional.
Verdict
Smart writing, breezy comedy, and heartfelt emotions, Good Newwz is definitely a sure hit movie. We can say that the end of 2019 at the Boxoffice is going to be really good as this film is all set to bring cheers and moments of joy for its fans in this holiday season. So do go and watch the film.
