As the new year has started, it’s time we make our binge-watching calendars for 2020. Various shows are lined up, while some are new releases, some of them are returning after their successful seasons.  With so many TV shows streaming on different platforms, anyone would get confused and might even miss out on their favorite shows. But don’t worry as we have created a list of the most anticipated TV shows of 2020.

10 Anticipated TV Shows of 2020

Kick-off this year with some of the great series featuring TV shows of different genres like sci-fi, thriller, action, drama, comedy, and romance.   

The Lord of the Rings

Amazon’s series, The Lord of the Rings is not going to follow the path of movies, and be based on the trilogy. This is going to be a prequel series set in the Second Age of Middle Earth. Tolkien’s bestselling novel The Lord of the Rings is a sequel of his novel “The Hobbit.” The plot revolves around the “Dark Lord Sauron” the antagonist who once created a ring in order to rule the other rings. And so he uses this ultimate weapon to rule the Middle Earth.

And so the series will take over the years of Second Age Middle Earth. You can expect a total of five seasons in total. Amazon bought the rights for the show back in 2017, and so we are expecting that the show releases in 2020.

WandaVision

Created by Jac Schaeffer WandaVision is an American miniseries that will be coming on Disney+. Based on Wanda Maximoff and Vision, the Marvel comics characters, this web television series will be a continuity of the Avengers Endgame. According to the synopsis released, Wanda Maximoff and Vision will be suspecting the things around them while leading their ideal suburban life.  

The WandaVision will premiere around December 2020.

Space Force

Another anticipated American comedy series is Space Force. This television series created by Steve Carell and Greg Daniels is scheduled to premiere all around the world on the global platform Netflix in 2020. Space Force is a comedy series that focuses on the workplace with a group of people who are tasked to establish the sixth branch of armed services of the United States.

The series will star Carell, Ben Schwartz, John Malkovich, Tawny Newsome, and Diana Silvers.

Mrs. America

FX Productions have ordered the release of a drama miniseries on Hulu by the name Mrs. America. The series will star Cate Blanchett in the lead. Mrs. America will narrate the true story of the Equal Rights Amendment and the movement to ratify it. It’s the story of a Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative woman who backlashes the movement. The series will explore this movement through the eyes of women of the era and second-wave feminists. 

From 15th April 2020, you can witness the toughest battleground that shifted America’s political landscape.

Invincible

For all the anime lovers, Invincible an American animated adult-superhero drama will be releasing this year. Robert Kirkman’s comic book character by the same name will premiere in 2020 on Amazon Prime Video.

So Invincible is a story about a normal teenager, Mark Grayson. Everything in his life is normal except that his father is the planet’s most powerful superhero. And as he turns seventeen, on his birthday, Mark too develops some powers, entering his father’s tutelage.  

Ratched

The next in our list of most anticipated television series is Ratched. It is an upcoming American drama series, based on Ken Kesey’s novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” The series is created by Evan Romansky and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix. The show will star Sarah Paulson as the so-called Nurse Ratched.

The story of Ratched TV series follows the journey of Ratched and her evolution and transformation from a nurse to a fully-fledged monster. It dates back to 1947 an origins story, which will track the murderous progression of the nurse while with the help of the mental health care system.

Paradise Lost

Another American upcoming drama series that will first air on cable platform Charter Communications, and then on the Paramount Network is Paradise Lost. The 10-episode long series will star Bridget Regan along with Josh Hartnett. The Southern Gothic drama will focus on Regan, a psychiatrist who moves to her husband’s native place, a small Mississippi town from California with her family.

Paradise Lost will be a complex and compelling series revolving around the life of incredible characters. You can catch up with all the drama in mid- 2020.

Defending Jacob

Apple TV+ is coming up with an American television series based on William Landay’s novel by the same name Defending Jacob. It is going to be a crime miniseries starring Chris Evans and Michelle Dockrey, along with a talented star cast. Directed by Morten Tyldum, the show is set to premiere on 24th April 2020.

The plot of Defending Jacob revolves around a father who is dealing with the pain and angst of the accusation that his 14-year old son is a murderer. Now that is an interesting plot, right?

She-Hulk

She-Hulk made its first appearance in 1979. Marvel Studios is coming with another solo series of the most loved character She-Hulk. So the story of She-Hulk is like Jennifer Walter, a skilled lawyer, and cousin of the Hulk is gunned down. And as her life is on the line, the emergency blood transfusion that takes place transmits Hulk’s gamma radiation into her. This incident transforms her into a She-Hulk. It has been announced that a show will be created on the same lines.

However, Walters won’t be suffering the same anger issues as her brother allowing her to continue the legal practice and her everyday job. It is one of the most anticipated shows of 2020, provided that the filming of the series will itself begin somewhere August 2020.

I Know This Much Is True

I Know This Much Is True is also based on Wally Lamb’s novel by the same name. It is an upcoming TV series that was ordered back in October 2018. Mark Ruffalo plays the role of Thomas and Dominick, identical twin brothers. This family saga is set against the setting of 20th century America and tells the story of sacrifice, betrayal, and forgiveness.

The showrunners announced on March 1, 2020, that the series will release on April 27, 2020. Directed by Derek Cianfrance, this series will air on HBO all around the world.
