His Dark Materials is a fantasy television series that is based on the novel series of the same name by Philip Pullman. The series is produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Productions, for BBC One and HBO. The first season premiered on 3 November 2019 on BBC One and on 4 November on HBO in the United States. Till then the series is running successfully and has also been set to have the second season.
His Dark Materials series basically is set in an alternative world where all humans have animal companions called daemons, the manifestations of the human soul. Daemons are the backbone of this whole series. This is the reason that it continues to resonate with fans into adulthood with a compelling fantasy world. The series basically follows the life of a young girl named Lyra, an orphan who lives with the scholars at Jordan College, Oxford.
His Dark Materials Season 1 Episode 6 Written Update- S01E08 Recap
The last episode “The Daemon Cages” although it wasn’t the best episode HBO’s His Dark Materials adaptation it certainly was filled with the highest concentration of best-of moments.
His Dark Materials Episode 6 Recap- Lyra’s Escape from Bolvangar
In the story so far we witnessed that having been kidnapped Lyra was brought to Bolvangar after when she witnessed the tragic end of Billy Costa. Lyra realized that her current situation is terrible.
The observant Lyra then meets the other captive children and was delighted to see Roger. She had a talk to Roger’s daemon so as to get necessary Intel without raising suspicions but she sees firsthand the terror all the children living under as a girl named Bridget is taken for “treatment” and doesn’t return.
Lyra finally plots an escape using a convenient fire alarm which makes it as her first attempt. After starting a snowball fight during the alarm as a distraction, Roger and she sneak off coming across cages of severed daemons. Later Roger discovers an empty cage which was marked with Billy’s name, Lyra admits their Gyptian friend died. It was frightening enough when they found a room full of zombified children along with Bridget among them, who seem to have lost daemons and their spirits. Witnessing their lifeless faces impresses upon Lyra and Roger what horrors all the children face if they don’t escape soon. She tells Roger that the Gyptians are coming for them so they must be ready to flee when the time is right.
His Dark Materials Episode 6- Children to Flee
As the children start to flee, Roger goes to rescue the severed children while Lyra decides to destroy the intercession device. She pressed every button and turned off every knob, causing the machine to self-destruct and then take off through the corridors as it explodes. Coulter, meanwhile, escapes her quarters through her golden monkey. The Gyptians arrive just in time. Ma Costa faces off against Dr. Rendal and gets personal payback for Billy’s death by snapping his neck.
His Dark Materials S01E06- Gyptians win the battle
The episode took a slightly odd turn as the Gyptians won the battle. Instead of joining the Gyptians and the rescued children as they return south, Ma Costa urged Lyra to save her father. Lyra finally then boards Lee’s balloon along with Roger to rescue her father. Although Lee was in charge of Lyra’s safety, as Serafina takes off and his balloon moves north, it comes under attack by cliff-ghasts. Lyra falls out of the balloon. Lee tries to grab her but she lost her grip and disappears screaming into the mists below.
His Dark Materials Season 1 Episode 7 Spoilers
The next episode titled “The Fight to the Death” will witness Lyra fighting for herself. She finds herself alone lately and will be seen struggling to figure out her survival and pressing onwards on a rough road.
As the title indicates the episode will witness a magnificent scene of Iorek and Iofur fighting for the crown of the bear kingdom. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter will be successful in escaping the events at Bolvangar. But what will she do next? Will she join the spectacle or the combat, or will she reach out to the Magisterium for help? Furthermore, we can also see Lord Asriel again.
Meanwhile, in the other world, Will’s story will pick up pace as well. Parrys are being watched, which means in the next episode, the stalkers will come out of the shadow to look for the letters that John Parry’s wife has been keeping safe. The showdown between them and Will will push him towards the path leading him to Lyra.
