Rock music has a long history that comprises loads of movements and subgenres that have grown and evolved over the decades. Since the inception of the rock and roll genre in the 50’s there have been some incredible bands that have defined rock and the music industry at large.

What’s even more interesting is that the most influential bands in history have gone as far as transforming and inspiring different aspects of our lifestyles. For instance, when you take a look at the gaming world, there are plenty of interesting online slot games themed around legendary music bands that developed our musical tastes throughout the years. An excellent example of a band themed slot is Yggdrasil’s Cazino Zeppelin slot that offers you the chance to enjoy hardcore rock music rather than just listening to the standard and boring reel-spinning sounds. How cool is that?

Well, in today’s post, we decided to go take a look at some of the best rock music bands of all time that are still remembered and considered game-changing decades after they left the scene:

The Beatles

The Beatles were an English pop group that was formed back in 1960 in Liverpool. The band members comprised Ringo Starr, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney who before long were known as the most influential act of the rock era. The band’s music was based on 1950s rock and roll, beat and skiffle, but later picked up influences from different music genres, ranging from Indian music alongside pop to psychedelia and hard rock, frequently integrating classical components in original styles.

The band made what many deemed their best stuff around 1965, including the state-of-the-art and broadly dominant albums Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (usually referred to as the White Album), and Abbey Road. The Beatles won tons of accolades including 10 Grammy awards, and the band was inaugurated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

Led Zeppelin

Established in 1968, Led Zeppelin was a London-based English rock band recognized for creating one of the most unique and iconic sounds in rock music history. The band members included John Paul Jones on bass/keys, Robert Plant on vocals, John Bonham on drums, and Jimmy Page on guitar.

Their hefty, guitar-driven sound centered around blues and psychedelia on their first albums, has earned them critical acclaim, placing them amongst the forerunners of heavy metal thanks to hits like ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and ‘Stairway to Heaven’. Additionally, some of the band’s most successful albums include the likes of like Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin, Physical Graffiti, Houses of the Holy, Presence, In Through the Out Door, and Coda. The group ranks amongst the best-selling artists with record sales ranging between 200 to 300 million units worldwide and were inaugurated into the Rock Hall of Fame in 1995.

The group, which was based in London, achieved global recognition with their progressive psychedelic music with Richard Wright on vocals and keyboard, Roger Waters on vocals and bass, Nick Mason on drums, Syd Barret on vocals and guitar, and David Gilmour also on vocals and guitar.

The band’s most successful albums include their debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, The Dark Side of the Moon, The Final Cut, The Wall, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Obscured by Clouds, Ummagumma, and A Saucerful of Secrets. Moreover, the band’s Dark Side of the Moon album is regarded as one of the best albums of all time, with more than 50 million copies sold globally. Pink Floyd was officially accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Aerosmith

Aerosmith, also known as ‘the Bad Boys from Boston’ is regarded as America’s best rock and roll band of all time. Fronted by the incredible Steven Tyler, Aerosmith enjoys popularity all over the world. To cut a long story short concerning the band’s significance on rock music, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame mentioned 500 songs that shaped the Rock and Roll music genre, and three of them were Aerosmith’s songs, namely ‘Walk This Way, ‘Toys in the Attic’ and Dream On.

Queen

This English rock and roll band was an extremely exceptional group of artists. Freddie Mercury fronted the band as the lead vocalist and was accompanied by an extraordinarily gifted trio of Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), Brian May (guitar, vocals, and John Deacon (bass guitar, vocals). Queen got into the international scene with their release of the album ‘A Night at the Opera’ back in 1975. In 1977, they launched another album ‘News of the World’ featuring best-selling tracks like ‘We Are the Champions’ and ‘We Will Rock You’ whose popularity has even turned them into anthems at sports events. By the 1980s Queen were amongst the greatest rock and roll bands worldwide, and this earned them a place in the Rock Hall of Fame in 2001.

You’ll find hundreds of rock music bands that have been all through the years since the genesis of rock and roll. However, it’s only the best brands like the ones we’ve covered today that have withstood the test of time, and their songs continue being on playlist replays of greatest hits. While this genre of music is currently eclipsed by hip-hop and electro-tinged pop music in chart rankings, rock still prevails within the DNA of the musical culture.
