There were no Marvel crossovers or Spiderman cameos, but still, Venom was a blockbuster hit. It got a massive response from the audience and so Venom 2 was supposed to happen. According to the planned date, Venom was set to release in October, and let’s see if it happens or not. Produced under the Sony Pictures, the sequel will be directed by Andy Serkis. The Venom 2 is titled as Venom: Let There be Carnage.
Venom 2 is surely going to be a huge hit, but will it release this year. Or due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it too will be postponed. Let’s find out.
Venom 2: Let There be Carnage- What we Know So Far
Right after the end of Venom, the audience knew that Carnage will be the villain in the next instalment. Yes, in the post-credit scenes Carnage aka Woody Harrelson can be seen. But he is not going to be alone. According to the reports, Shriek will also be seen as a villain in the movie and Naomie Harris has been approached for this. Now before going deep into the cast and plot of Venom 2, here is the story of Venom in a nutshell.
So Venom is basically the arch-rival of Spider-man in Marvel Comics. It is the story of Eddie Brock, a hard-hitting journalist who is infected with the ooze of a sentient alien (a symbiote). As a result, Eddie turns into a powerful superhuman creature called “Venom.” He can not only release weaponized black goo in numerous ways but also consumes living human beings for its sustenance.
In the sequel, with the presence of different villains, Venom will come out as a hero for sure.
When will Venom 2 Release?
Sony Pictures have scheduled the release of all its super-hero films in advance. And so we know that Venom 2- Let There be carnage was scheduled to release on 2 October 2020. However, according to the reports, the film release will be pushed until the next year.
There are a lot of moves that are scheduled to release before Venom 2, but all of them have been postponed due to the Corona Virus and so the new release date given by Sony Pictures is 25 June 2021.
Venom 2 Cast Details- Who Will Appear in the Sequel?
Out of all the characters, Tom Hardy will be reprising his role as Eddie Brock and as Venom, his alien alter-ego. According to the reports, Michelle Williams will also be returning to play her role of Anne Weying, the district attorney and Brook’s ex-fiancee.
Apart from the two, the cast includes Woody Harrelson as Carnage, Reid Scott as Dan Lewis, and Naomie Harris who will be playing the role of another Marvel villain, Shriek. Also, there are low chances of a Spider-man cameo which will be played by Tom Holland.
Venom 2: Let There be Carnage Plot Details
According to Marvel Comics, Cletus Kasady turns into a supervillain from a serial killer after getting bonded with a piece of Venom symbiote. And this supervillain is none other than Carnage. Also in the post-credit scenes, we have seen the glimpse of Carnage, and so the Venom 2 plot will be revolving around these two characters.
Also in 2019, Deadline reported that another villain called Shriek will be introduced and so it will be more like the Marvel crossover of 1993, the Maximum Carnage.
The basic plot of Venom 2 makes a lot of sense. Like how did Kasady come in contact with the symbiote? However, this crossover with Shriek is unexpected and something to look forward to.
