The Kabir Khan’s multi-starrer, led by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as team captain Kapil Dev titled ’83′, was supposed to release on 10 April. The movie is based on India’s 1983 world cup victory. Now due to coronavirus, it will not be released on its earlier schedule of April 10 and no new date has been announced yet.
First, Angrezi Medium, which was released on March 13, was pulled from cinemas after several theatre chains across the country were shut down to prevent Coronavirus. A few days later to this, it was announced that Rohit Shetty’s Soorayavanshi would not be released on March 24 but on an unspecified later date.

“In the wake of the risks posed by the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and the growing health concerns, the release of 83 has been put on hold. We will make a decision regarding the next course of action once the conditions return to normal. We urge our fans to take all the necessary precautions and take care of their loved ones. 83 is a film about fighting the odds and we hope we all will bounce back from this soon,” the film team has revealed in a statement. Ranvir Singh has shared the news on his official twitter handle.”
83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always come first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!,” reads Ranveer’s Instagram message.
83- A Story About World Cup Victory
A Kabir Khan directorial project, ’83 is an onscreen picturization of India’s astonishing title triumph in the 1983 World Cup. India had become the second team to succeed the cricket World Cup after defeating the two-time champions and practically unshakable West Indies.
Ranveer Singh is essaying the role of legendary player Kapil Dev in this biopic. While Deepika Padukone is on the board to play the role of Kapil Dev’ wife Romi Dev.
