Sony and even Amazon have pulled out of one of the biggest tech shows around. Amazon and Sony are two of the few major companies that have been forced to pull out of the show and it all comes down to the Coronavirus.

The risks that it poses really are not worth it for the companies, but they are not the only ones who have pulled out. Sony has stated that they are not going to take part in the Mobile World Congress after they have worked hard to try and monitor the situation. They don’t believe that the virus is contained and they want to do everything they can to stop it from spreading.

The Organiser

It should be noted that the tech show highlights some of the major movements to have happened in the industry. The organizer has stated that the event attracts over 100,000 people and that it is going to go ahead as planned.

They have admitted that companies are debating whether or not to attend though. Of course, the event showcases everything from online casino games to phones and even game consoles as well. LG Electronics and Ericsson who are a telecoms equipment maker in Sweden and NVIDIA, who are known for making computer chips have also withdrawn from the conference. The conference runs between the 24th and the 27th of February.

The GSMA

The GSMA has organized the show in the city and they have stated that they are going to confirm the fact that the large exhibitors have made the decision not to come to the show. Other companies, on the other hand, are contemplating the steps that they need to take.

Right now there are over 2,800 exhibitors. It has been revealed that a lot of additional measures have been put in place and this is all designed to reassure attendees and even exhibitors that their safety and health are the main concern.

Ban on Travel

The main concern is that there is a ban from travelers who are coming from China. This is especially the case when you look at the Hubei province. This is the epicenter of the main outbreak. Those who have been to China have to provide proof that they have been out of the country for a total of 14 days.

The GSMA has estimated that between 5,000 and 6,000 people are visiting the Mobile World Congress. The GSMA has also stated that all of the participants should not be shaking hands and that microphones are going to be disinfected as well. They are also going to be changed at regular intervals to try and make sure that everyone stays as safe as possible.

The Coronavirus has killed 800 people, but it has infected 34.800. Some airlines are still locked down as well and this would be bad news for those who are traveling. Right now, on the other hand, only time will tell what is going to happen next.
