Each year the superhero films are becoming the highest-grossing movies of the year. 2019 was the year of such films with the release of Avengers: Endgame, but it’s not over yet. This year too get ready to choose from a wide range of films from sequels to spin-offs, remakes and some brand new concepts. There are going to be a lot of DC and Marvel movies releasing in 2020, and we have made this calendar for you.

The New Mutants

The first upcoming film of the superhero genre is The New Mutants. It is an American horror film based on the Marvel comics. If you are a fan of the X-Men series, then you might like The New Mutants as it is going to be more like its instalment. The film will observe the Game of Thrones star, Maisie Williams in a new avatar.

In the film, Williams a teen mutant tries to come to terms with her powers, what she has become and what all she can do with the powers while being locked in a facility.

Black Widow

Another Marvel superhero that we all know, the Black Widow will be returning with a standalone film. All the fans wanted to have some closure after the end of their favourite superhero, in Avengers: Endgame. Scarlett Johansson will be starring in this upcoming film produced by Marvel Studios. The film was set to release in the month of May but is postponed keeping the pandemic in mind.

Wonder Woman 1984

All the fans were eagerly waiting for the return of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman along with Chris Pine in the upcoming superhero film Wonder Woman 1984, but after the release of the trailer, they just can’t keep the excitement. Written by David Callaham, directed by Jenkins the film will take you back in the 1980s, in the final days of the Cold War.

Morbius

Morbius is another attempt of the Sony Television to build the Spider-Man villains Universe. Yes, it’s going to be all villains without Spider-Man. The film’s lead Morbius will be a human-vampire hybrid, played by Jared Leto.

The last superhero appearance of Jared Leto in the Suicide Squad as The Joker was an actual disaster. We hope that it is going to do well after his last disastrous run.

Venom 2

Another Marvel Comics film that will be coming this year is Venom. So it is the sequel of 2018 hit film where Tom Hardy will be returning as Venom. Just like Mobius, Venom is a weird take of Sony to create a complete villain universe without the superhero.

So an investigative journalist, an alien symbiote’s host who instil in him some super-human abilities and an alter-ego, a violent one. While the first part was extremely campy and funny, there are some chances for the next instalment to pull up.

The Eternals

This next film is an exciting addition to the Marvel series. The Eternals featuring the potentially most diverse and largest cast in the role of strongest superheroes will be hitting the theatres in November. The film includes some huge names like Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, Lauren Ridloff, Salma Hayek, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Gemma Chan, along with Kit Harington.

We are ready for this visual treat so take our money and bring it on.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Another Marvel movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role is the sequel to the 2016 film Doctor Strange. The movie will release in the coming year 2021. The film is taken up by Jade Bartlett, actress and screenwriter along with Scott Derrickson who is returning to the direction.  According to Collider, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be the first “scary” movie of Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Batman

We are definitely going to miss Ben Affleck in his Batman avatar as he previously made it clear that he won’t be jumping into the Batmobile again, but we have a young Batman on the rise. Yes, Robert Pattinson is ready to star as a younger Bruce Wayne. This will give the film more scope to dig into the plot that wasn’t covered before and shown on the big screen.

We are excited to see Robert in the black batsuit, and hope that the film won’t get much postponed due to the Corona pandemic.

Black Adam

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be seen as Black Adam in his superhero debut film. He is working on this film along with Adam Sztykiel (Rampage), his longtime collaborator. Apart from him, he will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who is associated with him from his Disney’s Jungle Cruise film. While it was planned to release Black Adam along with Shazam! But now it will be releasing solo.

The film will not be a straight-up villain flick rather it’s going to be a modern anti-hero rendition of the character. It is confirmed that the Justice Society of America will be introduced to the DCEU.

Release Date: December 22, 2021

Shazam! 2

Shazam! was a commercial as well as a critical hit, and so a second part was to be made. The official announcement was made and it is no joke that Shazam! 2 will be released on 1st April 2022. The fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of their childish superhero. Zachery Levi will be returning as your sophomore superhero.

We are assuming that more details regarding the film will be released soon. However, we can expect the major actors to reprise their roles in the second part as well.

The Flash

Okay I know for this next film we all have been waiting from so long and it seems that it has been the development phase from even longer. The film has gone through a series of directors and finally, Andy Muschietti, director of IT has taken the charge. Nothing much is known about the plot till now, but we are sure that Ezra Miller will be reprising his role of Flash, the titular hero.

Aquaman 2

Aquaman 2 is the most anticipated DC movie to release in the coming year. The film is written by McGoldrick and David Leslie Johnson who had written the first movie as well. Wan will be returning as the director while Peter Safran will also come on board as the producer of the film.

Apart from them, Jason Momoa will be reprising his role as Aquaman/ Arthur Curry. Also, Orm and era will be returning in their respective role.
